Side Story 11: My Name is Nao Nao

My name is Nao Nao. I am Daiyu's baby.

Life before her was very sad. But after she took me away from that cold and empty place, every day had been very fun.

When Daiyu was little, she used to play with me every day. She drove around in her pink car while I followed her around. We would have tea with Uncle Tang in the afternoons and she would bathe with me at night. I slept next to her every day, making sure to keep her warm.

"Nao Nao! Daiyu loooooves you!" Baby Daiyu said as she hugged him tightly.

"Woof!"

'I love you too, Daiyu!'

When Daiyu started growing up, she would spend most of her time studying. I patiently waited for her and Jin-gege to finish every afternoon before we all played together.

I like Jin-gege. He always gives me lots of pats.

Sometimes, Zhihao-gege would come over to play too. I like him too. He's a bit noisy but he's very funny.

When Jin-gege left for military school, life became very sad for Daiyu. She started eating and smiling less and I had a hard time cheering her up. I would often see Uncle Tang worrying about her silently as he watched her from afar.

"Nao Nao, I miss him very much…"

"Woof…"

'I miss him too, Daiyu…'

When Jin-gege returned, Daiyu became happy again. She spent most of her time with him and I patiently waited for her to come home.

I thought that I would be lonely now that Daiyu was busy growing up but to my surprise, I wasn't! Because grandpaw always played with me!

When I first moved into the Wang Mansion, grandpaw didn't like me at all. But I quickly found out that he was just being shy. When Daiyu wasn't looking, grandpaw would often give me treats. He liked it when I wagged my tail and played with him.

Soon, grandpaw played with me more and more. Before long, he had installed doggy doors onto every door in the mansion so that I could come visit him wherever he was. I think that grandpaw must be very lonely.

'Don't worry, Daiyu! I'll take good care of grandpaw while you're in school!'

Grandpaw takes me everywhere he goes. He brings me to his office too. I help him scare away the bad guys! I bark and they sign the paper!

"Good job, Nao Nao! We just got the deal!"

"Woof!"

'All in a day's work, grandpaw!'

Now that grandpaw stays at home a lot, I have become much fatter. Uncle Tang gets mad at him because he says that grandpaw feeds me too much. But I know the truth! Uncle Tang feeds me the most!

At night, when Daiyu doesn't get up to get a snack, I sneak into Uncle Tang's room. I whine a bit and show him my big sparkling eyes. Uncle Tang immediately gets up and brings me to the kitchen!

"Woof!"

"Shhh! Don't be noisy Nao Nao. We'll get caught!"

"Woof…"

'Uncle Tang I want more steak…'

"Good boy…"

'Yes! I'm a good boy!'

My name is Nao Nao. I am Daiyu's baby, grandpaw's best friend, and Uncle Tang's favorite son! I eat lots, sleep lots, and have lots and lots of fun!
