Chapter two

I pull up to my apartment. Parking my car I get an eerie feeling. My eyes scan the general area. The sky filled with grey clouds and roads empty. My house lights off and door standing out from the others with a "not welcome" sign on it.

That when I saw it. Saw... her.

"Maddie." I grunt and grab my keys. I step out of the car and was greeted with a gush of wind. My hair flying out of control and coat blocking the wind from touching my skin.

I tried my best not to make eye contact with her due to us splitting on bad terms.

I wanted nothing to do with her. I gave her the world and she betrayed it by cheating on me with some junkie crack head.

Her car door slams shut letting me know she was getting out of the car. And that's when I sped up. Locking my door and rushing towards my front door. Her high heels clacking against the concrete as I hear her call out my name.

"AJAX!"

I ignored her. My keys rustling in my hand as I tried to grab the correct one in time.

"AJAX!!! DON'T FUCKING IGNORE ME! I WANT TO TALK TO YOU!"

"TALK ABOUT WHAT, MADDIE!?"

I quickly turn to her. My eyes focused on hers. Her eyes wide and cheeks red. Her fist was closed and hair flying gently in the wind. I could tell she had just gotten off of work. But that was hours ago. She must've been waiting here for me.

"WE ARE OVER! YOU CHEATED AND JUST FUCKING TAKE RESPONSIBILITY! NOW LEAVE ME ALONE AND GO FUCK THAT CRACK HEAD YOU CALL A DAMN BOYFRIEND!"

I could feel my own face get hot.

The whole time I was yelling I tried to look away from her beautiful gaze. It didn't matter what mood she was in, her beautiful was always above anything of hers.

I could see a tear roll down her face. She blinked ever so softly.

"Listen. I'm sorry... I wasn't.."

"Sorry? You cheated on me after two damn years. Or maybe I just wasn't enough for you so you lowered your standards? am I correct. Well you can keep those fucking standards.."

Maddie took a deep breath. I couldn't help but look at her in anger. My next door neighbors watching intensely as a Honda Civic pulls up onto the curb of the complex.

It was Adrian. Stepping out of his car, he stopped in surprise at what was going on. Looking back and forth between Maddie and I.

I could tell he knew he'd come at the wrong time but that still didn't stop him from walking up to me slowly. Maddie nodded and turned around swiftly. She'd almost bumped into Adrian while doing so but quickly backed away and rushed past Adrian.

Adrian turned to Maddie then back to me with a slight smile on his face.

"Whoa. you two still..." He intertwined his fingers together. His skin dark and hair in neatly braided dreads that brought out his eyes and fitted tuxedo he always wore for work.

"No. She tried to apologize," I reply.

Adrian shook his head once.

"Damn. You don't miss good dick until you lose it," he replied.

I nod before turning to open my door. Adrian slides his keys into his pockets before we both step into my home.

The smell of fresh flowers and the sight of a nicely decorated home made me feel comfortable every time I arrived home.

"How's Tossi?" I ask.

I take off my hoodie before handing it on the coat rack.

"Oh... same old same old. She doesn't talk much. But she does come home and complain about bullying. Her other and I are trying to figure out the cause of it. May have to switch her to a different school for now." Adrian sits down.

I nod and throw a beer from the bar and into his hand.

Tossi was Adrian's eldest daughter. She was also very adorable. Only 5 years old. And a very beautiful one too. Her father being African American and mother being Mexican and from Mexico City.

"She'll be fine. Try moving her into a different class. Maybe that'll help," I suggest.

I sit down next to Adrian. the Tv playing some type of basketball game. "Yeah. Maybe you're right. Even if I did say that to Mia, she'd most likely argue with me about it," Adrian says.

"Yeah, I know. Woman are stubborn and stupid sometimes," I say.

"Oh yeah! YOU should know. I mean, look what just happened like 10 minutes ago." He points his finger to the door as if he was trying to remember Maddie's name.

"Little miss Whore was trying to get some extra dick," he says.

I chuckle and put one leg over the other. "So that's her new name?"

"Sure is, buddy," Adrian says. He made hi way to the kitchen which I assumed he was going to get something to eat.
