The World of Luna (Context and Inspiration)

Luna is the name of the setting of this story. It's a world that the protagonist has been isekaied too. It most resembles a superficial take on medieval Europe but with powerful magic, fantastical races, and even a handful of superhero-like people roaming throughout it.

The grander universe this story takes place in is loosely inspired by a setting known as the Shiftverse, which is a creation of a friend of the author's known online as PhilosoShy, as well as a few other settings. To support them check the link to their Pat-re-on located in the "Author's Thought" section of the chapter. They are an incredible writer who absolutely deserves your support.

The author and PhilosoShy have created a character named Jonathan Mondragon who is what's known as a "Prime", a creature who has undergone a process known as "The Shift", a process that gifts those who undergo it superpowers and shifts them from one world to another. The character is in the middle of an adventure using the GURPS system for roleplaying games.

Jonathan and Marcos are very similar, especially at the beginning of their respective stories. Jonathan is also a Puerto Rican doctor who has superpowers as well as boosts to his charisma and political ambitions. Marcos represents a somewhat darker take on that same basic character concept. Both are believed by the people of the empire's they are isekaied into to be reincarnations of a demigod of health and heroism.

Jonathan is meant to superficially resemble what a Caribbean Superman might look like, with the goodwill and desire for peace and freedom that comes with such inspiration for a character. Marcos is less kind-hearted and good-willed than that. In the parlance of D&D and other RPGs, Jonathan is lawful-good and Marcos is true-neutral.

This means that Marcos would do whatever he views as most beneficial to him and be convinced of the worth of actions by assessing how they impact him. Jonathan, on the other hand, would do the right thing because it is right and abides by a strict code of honor, even while seeking to achieve his considerable political ambitions. Both characters are talented physicians and have considerable personal ambition.

Jonathan was shifted to a world known as Ta Mando, by the Kandia, the people of the Kanda Empire, an empire which he, in a past life, helped build. Jonathan and Marcos both enter a remote province at the edges of the known world, relative to the civilizations they are spawned into. For Jonathan the empire and province are the empire of Kanda and an unnamed province that will likely be named Soterri in the future.

For Marcos the world is named Luna, the empire is named Verdad, and the province is named Sol. All of these are Spanish words, the words for the moon, truth, and the sun, respectively. This is a dark story that will tackle heavy topics. If all of that sounds interesting to you, I hope you'll check out this story! I'd love for you to join Marcos on the adventure he's about to embark on.

(It's that beautiful fundraising site for creatives. I didn't know that WebNovel hated writers making a living enough to block out any mention of it. I am going back in and editing this to add this in.
