1 Prolog[Edit]

I know what it sounds like. But when I opened my eyes in the morning, I was nothing more than a little spider. Yes you heard right. Spider.

But not one that is usually the most popular member of the species you usually think of when you hear the name "Spider". Like "Black Widow" or "Tarantula". Not from what I've seen looking at water droplets on a spider's web, where I am currently standing.

I saw that I am a strange species. In appearance, I resemble the "Goliath spider", but my size is much smaller. Considering the leaves on the tree where my net was now. I'm about half the size of an adult human's clenched hand. But that's not the strangest thing. My skin is as black as ebony. Only on the back you can see a small green stripe running from the mouth of the cobweb to the end of the abdomen, which frankly gives me an exotic charm. If you like spiders.

But later we will enjoy my beauty. I don't know how I'm a spider now. I must admit that I fell into a slight crisis. It's hard not to experience it in such a case. I have eight legs now. Eight. It's a strange feeling. And my eyesight is amazing. I see in better quality than 4K. So many positives. So what. Spiders are small and harmless. Unless they're venomous. I don't know if I am. I have no way to check it.

When I was about to fall into an existential crisis. And slowly slip into a panic attack that could potentially end badly for me. Suddenly a fly flew into my net. A small ordinary fly. I felt the slightest movement of the web I was currently standing on and instinctively turned my attention in that direction. And as soon as I set my eyes on the prey that fell into my net. Mentally, I swallowed. I was a spider now, and I had no such opportunity. For what reason, you ask. I had no human language. Although that's just a theory.

I was walking towards the fly. Which, unfortunately, was at the other end of the spider's web. Walking on eight legs is strange. At first I was afraid to approach the victim, but after a while I understood what it was all about.

I was now standing over the wriggling, still alive fly. I saw its violent attempts to free itself. Attempts which in effect had no sans to rescue. And with every movement she sank more and more into my spider web. For some reason, I felt joy at this bizarre event.

I approached her and caught her with small legs located at the mouth opening. Because you can't call it mouth. And I really don't know much about spider physiology. Even though I am myself.

When I held the flies with my little legs, they immediately and instinctively grew into little spines, or rather spines with a venom gland. Which, almost without my knowledge, stuck into the fly's body and pumped a dose of poison into it, after which the spines or rather fangs hid again. Somewhere. Then, instinctively, I began to entangle the fly in cobwebs. Which unfortunately shot out of my so-called mouth. It's like throwing up, but with a sense of pleasure. This is disgusting to say the least. I thought a spider only shoots from a spider's butt. But as you can see, the species of spider to which I belong. It can also shoot a net from its mouth.

When the fly was already dead and entwined in a cocoon made of cobwebs. I slipped it with my little legs into the "Mouth". I ate it. I made myself a spider kebab. With spider web and fly. And I will say one thing. It tasted good. It was quite tasty, like eating sushi, but instead of fish in the dish it was a fly. And instead of rice and the rest of the dish, it was a spider web. And yes. The fly tasted like fish.

> Incomplete Gen. Acquired

> Gen: Wings of flies [Complete in 25%] (Please eat three more small flies.)

At first I thought I was crazy. Finally, I heard voices. Which is not normal. After analyzing the situation I asked in my thoughts. I am finally a spider. I asked because I had no other idea.

(Krius) - Who said that? - I thought.

------------

> Hello Host. I am your system. My main function is to help you with your Evolution.

-----------

I understood more or less what was going on. After all, I used to read novels. Which presented such a system. So I had a clue about that.

(Krius) - What's the deal with this Gene gathering. (Host talks in thought all the time.)

-----------------------

> I'm already translating, Lord. Host, eating other Beings. Not necessarily the body of another being directly, but something containing DNA, like blood. The system will then tell you how much blood you need to drink. Or eat body parts. By consuming, the host gains genes that enable it to acquire new body parts, skills, or unique physiological properties of the consumed creature.

----------------

This sounds terrible because it involves eating other beings raw. On the other hand, I was happy. After all, the system is a great thing. But eating other beings. It scares me and disgusts me. I don't know how to approach this. But for now, I'll leave that for later. Because I'm going crazy.

(Krius) - "System do I have status options or something like that."

> Poison Fangs. (The host can create fangs with a venom gland in any part of its body. And can inject venom with them.) (Requires the use of the venom skill at the same time. And a placement determined by the host, and if no location is selected, it will be automatically selected.)

Incomplete Genes owned:

> small fly wing (25% complete)

After analyzing my stats, I wasn't thrilled. But what do you expect from a spider that can be killed by being crushed with a shoe. Well, I'll have to collect more genes. And given that in statistics I found a phrase written in statistics called "Magic Power". That is, it is in a fantasy world. So it could be interesting. Now I have to make up for the missing genes by capturing the three missing little flies. And from what I understand, this will probably generate the wings of a small fly from the abdomen. I can't wait to fly. I've always wanted to fly. As long as these skydlows adapt to my size and will they be functional at all.

Instead of waiting to catch a fly, I decided to enlarge the web. I didn't know how to go about it. No way. I didn't like the classic cobweb. I could have a spider body, but I didn't know how to make the shape.

After several failed attempts, I came up with this idea. I couldn't make a spider web like a spider. I'll do it my way. First I made a simple rectangle. Doing it in the space between the branches. Then I made horizontal and vertical stripes from the mesh. I made the so-called grid. Like in math notebooks.

(Krius) - Never again. - I thought.

The feeling of creating a spider web is not the most pleasant. If I had to be honest, if I had to describe the feeling. It felt like a human when I was in the toilet. But without the disgusting details.

It took me an hour to catch the other three flies. I was lucky they accidentally fell into my net. Otherwise I would have waited much longer.
