Azrael's Intervention!

Upon heading to the 200th floor, Ash had decided to take a detour and go to lower floors and get some snacks. Free by the courtesy of Heaven's Arena, Ash had been stockpiling them.

Munching on some fresh chocolate sticks, Ash had started his journey back to the 200th floor and upon entering the elevator, within was Azrael.

"Oh, hello there Ash." Said Azrael, greeting Ash.

Ash looked at Azrael and nodded, not bothering to speak back.

"You headed home any time soon?" Asked Azrael.

"No, I'm going to the 200th floor."

"Go home, you're not ready yet."

At this comment, Ash had looked at Azrael and laughed.

Not even a second later, Azrael had appeared behind Ash and grabbed his shoulder.

Cold sweat ran down Ash's neck, because as an assassin, it was one thing to let someone get past you even while being on guard but not even noticing was a different matter.

Ash had always been on guard around people even his family members, and he was also on guard against Azrael, but he hadn't noticed when Azrael made his move.

It was as though not even a fraction of a second had passed and BOOM! there was Azrael behind him with his hand now grasping his shoulder.

- Azrael POV -

I told the boy not to aim for the 200th floor yet as he is too weak. Yet, he disregards my warning with a laugh.

Guess I must show him how weak he really is in front of expert Nen users, he is but a fledgling who's just hatched from their shell.

Blinded by his meager accomplishments in Nen, unlocking the basic principles. He already believes himself to be worthy of fighting experts.

As I look at him, I spell out "Behind You" with my Nen wondering if Ash had possibly developed Gyo without my intervention.

Even whilst waving it in front of his face he didn't notice so I silently walk behind him, although to him it may possibly have looked a bit different considering my physique and Nen infused body has been trained to my limits of assassination.

I activate my Hatsu, causing my [Reaper of Death] to appear in front of him holding a scythe to his neck.

"You're not ready yet boy, if you can't see what I just did then you will die out there. Go home kid, just trust me."

- General Pov -

While Azrael's hand was upon his shoulder, Ash was frozen in place. He couldn't move, his body was paralyzed. He wasn't induced by fear as wasn't scared of anything not even death, so it must have been something else at play that he couldn't even fathom at his current level.

And upon finishing his statement, Azrael had flashed back to his original position as though he had never moved in the first place.

Resuming his previous position, Azrael had acted as if nothing had happened in that short timeframe.

The feeling of paralysis gripping Ash's person had vanished along with the pressure brought by Azrael, causing Ash to understand that he truly wasn't cut for the fights on the 200th floor and above just yet.

After this, Ash's emotions went back to normal after some time. After all he's from Earth and although he knows people harness this unreal energy called Nen, he wasn't quite yet adapted to it.

And as a product of killing, he was accustomed to being faster, stronger and having faster reaction times than his enemies. But not this time around, in this new world he was merely a bottom feeder. He had no real strength; he was but a paper tiger.

Ash was hoping to achieve that awakened state in this world as well since the benefits brought by it would be detrimental to life and death fights. But he had no luck with it, unfortunately it was almost as though it wasn't meant for him to unlock that state again.

After this lesson, Ash didn't bother to stay at Heaven's Arena with Azrael. He'd walked outside and proceeded to order the nearest air-blimp to Whale Island

As he was walking to the blimp station, he'd walked past numerous people, but a certain person caught his attention. A long-haired ginger girl, presumably around 15 years old in terms of looks.

But this wasn't a normal girl as Ash wouldn't have taken a second look at even the most beautiful woman.

This girl, short and toned was exuding a bloody aura. Others may not have detected her bloody stench but Ash who has ended the lives of thousands could detect even the faintest scent of blood on a person even if they wash themselves countless times to mask it.

Noticing Ash's gaze, the girl had turned back and smiled at Ash and kept walking. Ash not really caring if the girl killed people or not, he merely noticed her because of the bloody aura and continued on his way to the air-blimps.

[ 5 Months Later, Location: Unknown Forest ]

In this forest, Ash stood atop a wild Bear after slaughtering its entire family.

Months earlier, Ash had arrived on Whale Island and began working on ideas for his first Hatsu after figuring out his Aura type.

He'd figured out that he is a manipulator and the Hatsu he'd created is called...

Hatsu: [Blood Genetic Absorption] The ability to absorb the blood of any organism/life taken by Ash and take a portion of the slain organism's genes that can strengthen him, also increasing his Nen pool.

The stronger the organism the more of its genes he can absorb, if it isn't stronger than Ash than he can absorb minimal amounts of its genes.

The organism's blood after being slain will form the names of all genes available to be absorbed and has to be selected by Ash manually which genes he wants to absorb.

From this ability, Ash can absorb the trait of learning Nen faster if it's within them. He could also possibly absorb a healing factor from a strange organism that can regenerate lost body parts, but that will be hard.

As the stronger the genes, it will require Ash to kill a lot of that species unless the organism is stronger than him.

[Condition(s):

1 - The user will permanently be under the influence of this ability, the ability manipulating his body and DNA to the most minute levels. Even being able to change his physiology if he decides to do so by absorbing genes of that nature.

2 - The organism must be within Ash's strength range and or out of his league, only organisms slightly weaker or any level stronger than him can have their genes absorbed by this ability.

3 - The ability will not absorb the genes of an organism slain by another person/organism.

4 - After slaying an organism, the user must be within 100m of the slain organism, as a ring manifests on the user's hand permanently, the organism's blood is instantly absorbed by the ring allowing the user to have a selection from the organism's gene pool.

5 - The ring of blood has to permanently be on the user's hand, the ring allows the user to have the selectable genes presented in his mind or presented by the blood of the slain organism. Only after the selection of a gene to be absorbed will the blood be taken by the ring.

6 - If the targeted organism becomes aware that the user is engaging it then the absorption rate will be halved. But if the user slays an organism without it noticing, the absorption rate will be increased by 1.25x.

7 - After absorbing a gene that alters the user's physiology, the user will be given 1 hour to relocate and find a space deemed suitable for himself and then he will be put into a state of paralysis, unable to move and or use his Nen for an entire day.

8 - The user's mental state will become twisted, having no care for other's feelings. Only caring for his goals. This condition is irreversible, having no fix for it. The user will remain normal only losing the ability to care for others.

Extra: [ As the user is already considered to be manipulating himself, he cannot be controlled by external sources such as other manipulators.]

This Hatsu creation had Ash killing any animals and human slaves he could find, being the main reason for him always asking his family for slaves to kill. It wasn't until after the creation of this Hatsu that he'd begun this activity but before it.

The reason he'd been doing this was to fuel [Hatsu's Practicality Negation] as this ability was somewhat broken and that's exactly what he knew, therefore he'd been getting kills to give the passive ability some fuel so he could partially ignore the Law of Practicality for its creation.

And although using [Hatsu's Practicality Negation] Ash didn't have enough of it stockpiled so he'd made a list of conditions for this ability to be possible without using his life as a catalyst.

- Ash's POV -

I've already gained three complete genes so far, although only increasing my muscle strength and its growth speed. The third one was wonderful; its effects help me a lot. I can smell things not possible by the average human.

But I need to gain better genes that could help me in the art of assassination and combat. My eyes shouldn't be depended on so much now that I'm in a world of magic foreign to my previous life.

I could easily be deceived, so I need external sources of seeing. An animal with echolocation will do the job.

Now walking through the forest, I began to smell the scent of.... freshly baked tortillas?

And 93m to the west of me, I notice a cave. So, I began sprinting towards it, knowing that smell, I knew I was in luck.

After having practiced for 5 months, I'd been learning how to turn my Nen into string like threads. I'd learned how to harden, soften and retract these threads of string like Nen turning them into versatile weapons.

Not having to get close to opponents, I could sit back and utilize my threads. I can't be too far away as my Nen pool isn't that vast yet as I am still growing but it's usable.

Standing outside of the cave I smell the dense cluster of bats my eyes couldn't see, without bothering to even go inside the cave I began launching threads of my Nen inside and skewering anything in their path.

Having set my Ring of Blood to notify me of selectable genes mentally, I began receiving notifications in my head.

The progress to obtaining Echolocation was smooth sailing, I just had to continue slaughtering these bats with my Nen threads and I would gain this ability.

And moments later, I'd received another notification.

'Hmm, don't bat's only have Echolocation?'

'Oh yeah, I can gain the ability to reconstruct my physiology entirely with this Hatsu, although those genes require much more effort than simple genes.
