While Huang Qiuyan is observing the foreign entity in her head, Fu Mian couldn't help but feel uneasy. Huang Qiuyan is staring at her blankly for about fifteen minutes. She called her out many times, but Huang Qiuyan didn't respond. On top of that, Huang Qiuyan is turning paler with each second like she is watching a horror show. Fu Mian is young, but not stupid. Her IQ is high for her age. Though Huang Qiuyan couldn't harm her, Fu Mian doesn't like getting bitten.

Fu Mian waits for a minute. Her patience is running out. She has been unlucky recently. First, the vampire hunters kidnapped her from the school bus when she was coming back home from the school. Then, the rogue converts found her by her scent. The hunters and the rogues fought. One of the rogue converts managed to kidnap her and ran away. When the hunters didn't stop following the rogue vampire, he threw her at the mall and run away. Then, a female human found her and asked her some questions. Fu Mian didn't like humans. So, she didn't answer her questions. The female human left her in the children section to play with other kids and went away. The kids were also humans, ugly and loud. So, she hid in the playhouse. She spent the rest of the day hiding and waiting for her daddy to find her inside the playhouse. When she heard a lot of screams, she was scared. She didn't dare to come out. She covered her ears and closed her eyes. She didn't know when she fell asleep. When she woke up, it was this ugly converted vampire who found her before her father.

"Aunty, are you okay?" Fu Mian throws candy on Huang Qiuyan's face in annoyance. The candy hits right between her brows and then, falls into her lap. Huang Qiuyan is finally awoken. She widens her eyes.

"Did you hit me with a candy?" She asks.

"I wanted to throw the tray, but it is heavy for me," Fu Mian replies seriously.

Huang Qiuyan doesn't look happy or amused. "Little Doll, what was in that candy?"

Fu Mian cocks her head and crosses her arms. "Ugly Aunty, did you not taste blood before? What kind of vampire are you?"

The system interrupts Huang Qiuyan with a loud warning.

Huang Qiuyan rubs her forehead. Her head is throbbing with pain. She only found out yesterday that vampires were real. She even turned into a vampire. Now, there is a foreign system software in her head. Is she a computer now?

[System: Dear Host, you were chosen by Dr. Jane Doe because your survival chances were extremely low. During an apocalypse and post-apocalypse, children and women are most vulnerable. Huang Qiuyan stares at the little girl who is eyeing her with curiosity. The system is a psychopath. How could anyone kill this child? Look at her round eyes. Her round cheeks. Her chubby fingers. She is so cute. Huang Qiuyan wishes to adopt her as her own daughter.

She ignores the tensed system and decides to ask the little doll herself.

"Little Doll, where is your home?"

Fu Mian raises her brows. This vampire doesn't know her. Where did this vampire come from?

"I don't know." Fu Mian really has no idea where her home is. Her home is far from the bus station. Usually, her father would drop her at the station since it is mandatory to take the school bus. Then, they would wait for the school bus to arrive.

"Who is your father?" Huang Qiuyan doesn't find it unusual that the little doll had no idea where her home is. The child is young.

"My father is the vampire king. You know who he is," Fu Mian replies without batting her eyes.

"Where does he stay?" Huang Qiuyan doesn't know what to say. This little doll has gone through some bad stuff.

"He lives in a castle."

"Where is that castle?" Huang Qiuyan is having second thoughts. This little doll's adopted father doesn't look like a good person. He might have ulterior motives to keep her alive.

Fu Mian pauses for a while before she answers, "It's somewhere far away."

Huang Qiuyan sighs.

"Little Yue, do you remember your father's phone number?"

"He doesn't like phones."

Huang Qiuyan exhales and inhales loudly. She really wants to know what kind of person doesn't like to keep phones in the twenty-first century.

The scent of warm blood fills her nose. She hears voices. She puts a finger in front of her lips and signals the little doll to keep quiet. There are three males with guns. They are heading toward the food section of the mall.

"I don't think that it's a good idea." It is a male voice, somewhere in his mid-twenties.

"Do you want to starve? We have been hiding for hours. The children need food. We need to go in." The second male's voice is haughty and mature.

"But...what if those monsters are here?" The first male asks timidly.

"Didn't you hear them? They said that it was okay to come out as long as we do not go to dark places. Those monsters are hiding in dark places because they cannot tolerate the sunlight." The third male speaks this time. He pauses for a moment. "It's just like in the movies. Vampires can't walk under the sunlight."

"Why should we believe them anyway?" The first male is rather suspicious of whoever is helping them.

"Lu Yuan, do you even remember what happened last night?" It is the third male. "Those monsters won't die whether you stab or shoot them. They are the only one who can deal with them. We have to leave the city soon. They were saying that the city became the nest of these monsters. I heard them say that those monsters will come out again at night now. In the future, these monsters will even come out at daytime."

There are survivors. They are hiding somewhere. She turns to look at the little doll. What should She do with this girl? Should she send her away with these humans?
