534 Seth's Secret: Part II

"What if all this while we have been wrong? What if Seth isn't the most eccentric person in the Universe, but the most logical?" Alexis asked Ray and Butler Fin once. What if the Dark God did the things he did because he had to do them, not because he wanted to?

"What if the reason why Seth is so strong is because the mortals do not know him, neither do they understand him?"

Alexis's words had remained with Ray long after she left. He was left pondering this exact issue. Every god had a weakness, and when that weakness was worked upon, their godhead could be temporarily weakened, allowing a Scholar to identify and destroy it. For Fire Gods like himself, water was a great weakness. For Earth Gods, fire was their bane and for Lightning Gods like Zeus, earth was a great suppressor. Every element had its weakness. Seth was the only Dark God, but many believed that his weakness was light. It wasn't that hard to figure out, for that was the law of life. There were very few gods of light left in the universe, but one of them – one known as the Son of Light – had fought Seth before. And though he was a powerful Light God with few equals in the universe, he lost to Seth!

That was the battle that truly established Seth's place among the ranks of powerful gods. He may have defeated his brother and father before, but many didn't count it as his win. That situation was a bit unique. Seth ambushed them in the first place; neither was expecting what came to them. Secondly, many people found it hard to believe that they would strike Seth as mercilessly as he struck them. But that changed once Seth fought the Son of Light. For with even the Son of Light losing to Seth, the Dark God's name was fully established as a powerful Battle God.

"People say Seth is a solitary god because in the worlds he rules, the people do not know him neither do they worship him. But what if that is false. If he is a solitary god, why pursue the path of conquer? And why chase after Zandor's great spiritual energy if there was nothing to gain? What if the Son of Light lost not because he was weaker, but because Seth had more worshippers?"

All these questions were posed by Alexis before she left. Ray believed at the time that his wife didn't have an answer to her questions yet. But it seems he was wrong. Seeing her imprint ready to inform the world about Seth was enough proof of this. And that alone was enough to tell Ray what Seth's weakness was.

"So that's what she meant," Ray chuckled as his avatar sent Seth retreating once more, much to the Dark God's frustration. The fight was getting easier because Seth was becoming weaker, proving Alexis's theory was true. It was no longer a theory, but law.

The Son of Light was a powerful Light God, and he was famous for his kindness. Because of this, he didn't go round conquering worlds for their spiritual energy. He didn't go looking for worshippers; rather mortals who had been favored by him worshipped him all the same. Even without conquering any worlds, the Son of Light had quite the number of worlds worshipping him as their god. But when compared to gods who actively pursued the art of conquest, his worlds were quite few.

Seth on the other hand, conquered a lot of worlds before the two gods met in battle. In fact, the two had clashed because Seth attempted capturing a world that belonged to the Son of Light. In the end the result many were expecting never came. Seth didn't lose. It was the Son of Light rather who was sent retreating with grave injuries. And since that day, the Son of Light hadn't been seen again.

Since Seth was seen as a solitary god, many gods assumed that he did what he did for sport. To them he was a typical herald of destruction with nothing better to do. After all, what else was there to do with the entirety of eternity as your timeline than to torture mortals? But Alexis didn't believe this. She failed to believe that a person praised by Butler Fin as one comparable to himself in intelligence was this vain.

So she came up with this theory: Seth defeated the Son of Light only because he had more worshippers, not because he was stronger. But they didn't have time to further explore this before Ares and Loki started the war of the two heavens, forcing Alexis to leave.

Alexis's imprint chuckled lightly before raising its head to the heavens

"You may wonder why I am here; why I am speaking to you and telling you these things at all. After all, I am a goddess. Why don't I defeat this Dark God is what you may be wondering?"

Many Zandorians blushed in shame upon hearing Alexis's words. Indeed, they had been thinking those exact words. If gods were as powerful as this goddess said they were, why was she speaking to them instead of dealing with this Dark God? After all, there was little they could do with their feeble power. And she had proven only recently that she had the power to stop this god.

"We gods are unique. Destroying our physical body means nothing if the essence of our creation isn't destroyed. It is so with me. And it is the same with the Seth. He will return even if his body is destroyed."

Alexis's words were like a bucket of cold water upon the heads of the Zandorians. How were they supposed to fight against someone who would keep returning until he got what he wanted?

"Do not lose hope," Alexis said as she turned to face the direction of Ray's battle with Seth. The gleam in her eyes brightened as she lifted her finger and pointed at the constant flashes of fire and the booming sounds that kept resounding.

"I may not be here, but there is another who protects you: the Brute King, Fire God of Olympus and Herald of Flames, Reus!"

Along with the revelation of his true name, the entire world of Zandor croaked in delight. For it knew no Ray, but Reus. Reus was Ray's true name and the name he had given up when he rejected his father. It was this name that held his true power which was suppressed.

"I hate that name," Ray gritted his teeth as his eyes burned even brighter. A fiery pitchfork formed within the empty hand of his avatar, and with its appearance his flames burned even brighter. Although it was nothing but a phantom, the presence of this pitchfork was stiffening. And Seth momentarily stepped back in caution.

"Hah" Ray screamed and commanded his avatar, and it flung the pitchfork with great might.

*Whoosh*

The new addition to Ray's arsenal travelled through the air with great desire, seeking for one to devour. And there was only one here who fit the bill: Seth

The Dark God's expression was extremely unsightly. He pushed himself to the left to avoid the large pitchfork. The large weapon flashed past him with such power that the dark aura around him trembled. But before Seth could celebrate his victory he felt the pitchfork halt its charge, make a turn, and rush back towards him.

"It's fixed on me?" Seth was slightly surprised. But he knew he had a decision to make. He couldn't shake off the pitchfork, so he would have to destroy it.

"Lock-On; True Chaos" Seth quickly activated two of his Sensor abilities. The first was a common one. He used it to place a mark on the pitchfork so that he could return the favor of tracking to it. The second was the most powerful skill in his Scholar arsenal. True Chaos was a skill that temporarily allowed Seth to strike with Chaos, instead of Edict. With the power of True Chaos, Seth was able to create a Dark Chaos Spear. And he flung it towards the Pitchfork with all his power.

"That's interesting," Ray smiled upon feeling the forces of Chaos reaching for Seth. As a Spiritualist he was much more sensitive to Chaos than Seth. So he could feel what the Dark God was doing. And it was because of this that what Seth was doing was stupid.

For the pitchfork wasn't made out of Edict, but Chaos! Striking with Edict may cause the energy of the pitchfork to riot since Edict and Chaos were polar opposites. But striking chaos with chaos?

*Boom*

The spear struck the pitchfork without any suspense. Yet the results Seth hoped for didn't show.

"It's swallowing my energy?" Seth looked on with a dumbfounded expression. How could one swallow darkness? But that was exactly what happened. The pitchfork absorbed Seth's Dark Spear easily before flying back to Ray and settling in the palm of his avatar.

"Thank you Seth. You are such a kind man." Ray guffawed like a mad man, much to Seth's annoyance.
