9 Chapter 9
Announcement: Well, 2021 came kinda fu*ked up for me. But whatever, happy late new years guys. A person very dear to me died due to Covid, that is why I haven't been online in quite a bit, or posted anything. (on discord is a better explanation of the situation.)
Chapter 9
Title: Training Session…
…..
When I see the person in here… she seems around eight years old. Around five years older than me. What really stands is her pink hair cut in a bowl cut.
Immediately my suspicion spikes up and want to know her name to confirm my suspicion. But I stop myself from doing that, I know that if my suspicion is correct. I will need to be careful about this.
But surprisingly the girl looks at me with a curious look on her face. I don't do anything I just look at her with a calm face. She then starts walking towards me.
I just stare at her. If I was an adult this would be weird but I am a kid, so it doesn't matter.
When she is in front of me she still has a cold look on her face. Then she brings her hand up and… pats me on the head.
"You are pretty small aren't you." As she says that, she just pats my head like a dog.
I just annoyingly brush her hand aside. "You know it's rude petting someone you don't know."
She nods at this. "Oh, ok… then let me introduce myself. My name is Machi, eight tears old, blood type A, I specialize in assassination."
As she says that, I smirk on the inside. She is Machi, the future Phantom Troupe member. Though I am a little surprised that she was trained to be an assassin, it does make sense after all, she could do techniques like muscle control and even had a highs pain tolerance.
I notice that she is looking at me awaiting my introduction. So I just introduce myself. "My name is Sub, I like learning new things and training. I do not know what you mean by specialization though, since I just finished the torture training."
Machi nods her head and starts petting me again. "As expected, you are new here. Then be prepared, after the running. There will be training on different techniques, but sinve you are a beginner, you will mostly just train your body."
I nod at that and can't help but ask. "So do you know any techniques then?"
She nods at that. "Yep, look at this."
She then takes out some wire out of her shirt's pocket. I see that the wire glints a little, I immediately come to the conclusion that it is most likely steel wire.
She then uses her wire in her hands to… form a star… she then changes it to a square form, then a triangle.
"Cool right?" Asks Machi with a small smile on her face.
Well I wanted to see maybe an assassination technique… but whatever I am okay wuth this too, I didn't expect her to be like Killua, knowing Assassination Techniques at the age of eight. After all, comparing the Crimson Hand Organization with the Zoldyc family… they aren't on the same level. The Zoldyck family starts training their children even while they are in the womb, and even amongst that family, Killua is still the best talent they have ever had.
Still I decide to show her a trick of mine too. But suddenly a harsh voice calls out. "Attention!"
I look at the person who said that and see that it is Lovro. The man who first brought me here. I see that the other students get in line and Machi whispers to me. "Get in line too, or else there will be severe punishments."
I nod at this and get in line towards the end of the group following Machi. Lovro then announces. "You will either run till you drop or when we finish the marathon, follow me!"
He then starts running at a jogging pace, I start running too. Machi just looks at me and says. "If you get tired just tell me, I can carry you."
I look at her a little surprised at this. She really is soft on the inside. I mean the Phantom Troupe is definitely evil, no one can deny that. They killed children and innocent people when they massacred the Kurata Clan. But they are still human in the end and humans are too completely to call good or evil. For example, they killed the Kurata Clan, but they helped the residents of Meteor City, to these people they will be heroes but to the outsiders they will be monsters. Still though, they are pieces of sh*t by the normal standards… but who can say that I will be any better.
Though I won't kill needlessly, I will kill if it benefits me. It is just as simple as that. With my thoughts made up, I try to keep a steady breathing as I run alongside Machi.
….
It doesn't take long for me to get tired. Around twenty minutes later keeping that pace for me has become extremely tiring. I can feel the muscles in my leg cramp up. I even flowed my Nen around my body delicately to help me with my stamina, I even enter my state of Zetsu to help me regain some of my Aura back faster.
….
Ten minutes later and I am covered in sweat, and I can no longer keep up my breathing pattern. My legs muscles feel like they are burning but that amount of pain is nothing to me. As expected, some of the kids around me don't seem even tired. It seems like even with Nen, I am still only three years old and have limitations that I can't currently surpass. Especially since these kids have been training for many years too.
I better stop soon. I don't want to hurt my body too much. Machi seems to still be normally jogging with no heavy breath at all. She just gives me a side glance every now and then.
"You want me to carry you?" She asks me again. To which I answer with a resolute "No."
I will keep walking for another five minutes and fall down. I have already done enough, I must never give it my all in these exercises, so one day I can get a 'sudden' power boost. But when I train privately, then I can give it my all.
….
Five minutes later, I am in the forest biome inside the compound and…
*plop!*
I fall on the ground face first, obviously not too hard. But I then roll on my back and take deep breaths. I see that Machi has stopped too.
"So… wan-"
I don't even let her finish as I simply answer with a "No."
She nods at that and bolts away, catching up with the others.
It seems like I made a valuable friend today. It also seems like she hasn't met with the Phantom Troupe yet.
….
Ten minutes later, being in a state of Zetsu to help my stamina recovery by keeping my Nen inside my body and I am back to full strength. I just get up and run at full speed at where the group jogged, though I can't see them anymore, there should be other kids down the road that couldn't run anymore.
I know that I am unlikely to catch up with them still. After all, even though I recovered my stamina, my muscles are not healed yet, so I will get tired soon too. I just plan to make the likely hidden cameras in the forest know that I am willing to run more to train myself.
….
After the end of the exercise, Lovro and the others just walk back and start picking up the students who fell along the way. I see that when Lovro sees me, he is a little surprised, but then his surprised look morphs into a joyful face.
"Oh! So you passed the torture training. You are gonna really become a top notch assassin in the future."
As he says that I just nod, but that doesn't discourage him as he continues to say. "Ok then kid. Meet up at 12:00 in the gym, the building is right next to the Torture & Quarters building where you are currently staying at."
I nod again. "Thanks mister Lovro."
….
So after two hours, it is still only eleven o'clock. I know that I have free time, so I went to the cafeteria and saw Machi again sitting alone. I take a tray full of food and sit next to her. "Yo! Machi."
She turns around and looks at me. "Hello Sub."
After that she turns back to eating her food, of what seems to be chicken breast and some type of vegetable.
"So Machi, what do you like to do when you have free time here." I ask her, as I start eating my own food. A tray full of rice and soup. I always overeat for someone my age, but I easily burn it off due to my intense training.
"Hm..." She seems to think a little and then says. "I guess I spend most of the free time training with my wires and strings."
I nod at that. "Really? That seems cool. So when do you think we will be allowed to go outside."
"When you are ten, you will start your assassination career. You either leave the organization or decide to stay here." Says Machi and by the look on her eyes she seems to be excited to be leaving this place.
But as I look at the hundreds of kids in the cafeteria, I can't help but contemplate.
These kids have only known about the organization so most of them will most likely stay here. They give the freedom of choice, but in actuality that is just an illusion, these kids know nothing about the outside world. How would they live on the outside? The answer is that they can't, the organization and the bonds that they have built here will keep them here.
Anyway, by ten I will have learned everything that this sh*t hole has to offer and I will just go away from here.

AUTHOR NOTE:
Machi is described as soft by the other members of the troupe and as a kid I would assume that she was softer and didn't have her cold mask on. Also the way she fights also reminds me of a ninja so this is the backstory that I came up for her. So this is within character for her, seeing our young MC.
P.S:This chapter was supposed to come out yesterday evening, but my electricity went out. Apparently they are fixing some generators that were damaged by a lightning strike… most likely the one who hit my apartment.
