Chapter 35

Title: Heaven's Arena, 200th Floor Fights...

….

-Sub POV-

It doesn't take long for me and Karla to arrive back to my room. I look at her and see the slightly annoyed expression on her face.

"What's wrong?" I ask her.

Suddenly she is pulled out of her thoughts as I call out. She looks at me and asks. "Sub… can I ask you a question?"

I nod at her in confirmation and she continues asking. "What is your goal?"

When she asks that I look at her with a raised eyebrow. She has never been this curious before. I wonder what is bothering her? Or maybe she is an enemy that has transformed like Karla? Though the chances of that are low as I have been spending almost every single moment with her. I better be careful just in case, I know that Karla can't be manipulated with Nen because her ability already has her under control.

But I put those thoughts at the back of my mind and start answering to her. "Well, my goal isn't anything too grand or something like that. I simply want to be the perfect version of myself."

Karla seems confused at this, I can clearly see that so I decided to make it even clearer to her. "To me Nen is amazing and I am simply continuously wondered by it. It feels as if there is no limit to it and that I can continuously grow strong. It's so mysterious that makes it so fun. Feeling myself grow stronger and seeing new Nen abilities is simply amazing. I want to continue seeing more of them... and I want to have a mastery of Nen. I also want to go to a place called the Dark Continent, where absolutely terrifying creatures live. I am scared as hell to go there, but that feeling of fear is completely suppressed by my feeling of wonder and adventure. I want to see and discover many new and amazing things. Does this make sense to you?"

Karla seems confused but she still nods at that and responds. "But I don't want you to be in any danger…"

I smirk at that. "Well, one day everyone will have to die eventually. It's a simple fact of life. Though I obviously don't plan to die for a very long time. If the world starts getting monotone and boring I will just kill myself. No use living in a boring world like that… to me living in a world like that would be absolute torture."

Karla seems a little sad when I say that. Well, I wasn't completely truthful to her. Because she doesn't know that there are essentially an infinite amount of things that can kick away the monotony of living. So actually I will be living way more than just a little while… at least that is the plan. If I were to die along the road, it wouldn't be that bad as I am doing what I like at least and didn't waste away my life doing something that I hate… just like my last life…

"What about you Karla? What do you want in your life?" I ask her as I go and grab some ice tea and two plastic cups. She takes her plastic cup and I fill it up. She has a complicated look on her face as she seems to think about it. The atmosphere around is completely relaxed as I ask her that. Even if she has no goal, it doesn't matter… she will figure out her goal and what she wants to do along our journey.

"I guess I just want to be with you." Says Karla with a small smile on her face as she blushes. I smile at that, she is a simple girl, someone I can easily understand due to knowing her for such a long time. I lie down in my bed as I contemplate this, Karla lies down next to me too. I give a side glance towards her as she smiles at me sweetly. 

I guess she is moderately trustworthy after all…

It doesn't take long and after a couple of days Sunday comes around and that is when my fight comes up. I will have to fight against some lanky opponent. I can see it in the way he walks and how irregular his aura is that he is a new nen user. My opponent has spiky silver hair with brown eyes and seems to be wearing some lanky clothes. He is also missing an arm, so it would be safe to assume that he was initiated to Nen by someone when he naively entered the 200th Floor where he got crippled.

I can see that he has some muscles in his body, so he must have had some training before getting crippled. 

"Begin!" Announces the referee, immediately my opponent points a finger gun at me and his Aura gathers at the top of his finger. But he is too slow as I charge him and before he can even react I am in front of him and I take my Ben's knife and make a small cut on his arm. Surprisingly he doesn't seem affected by the poison. As he turns his finger at me and shoots at me point-blank. <Spirit Gun>

Baam!

It hits me on my head, but it can't go through my Nen as I use my <Dirt Cheap> Hatsu to turn the surface of my Nen to have rock-like properties, while under it I have my Nen take the properties of soft and dirt-like as I use it to absorb the shock that comes from the attack. I don't take any damage as I see the guy just fall on the ground… it seems like the poison just took a second before it affected him. 

The audience cheers at me as they only saw me disappear, an explosion, and the other guy fall on the ground unconscious. 

….

Karla's turn comes up next and she is against a creepy-looking red-eyed guy who has slicked-back dark hair and he also seems to be cosplaying as a vampire. 

"Why, my young lady, would you like to escort me on this beautiful evening?" Requests the vampire cosplayer. In the end, Karla just has a slightly bored look in her eyes. 

As soon as the referee announces the start of the fight Karla charges her opponent who seems to have a smile on his face. But a bandage breaks from underground and wraps around the vampire's ankle. 

The vampire guy looks at this with a panicked look in his eyes as he can see that he will be unable to move. Karla appears in front of him and wraps him in bandages like a mummy. 

<Servant Bandage>

She completed all of the conditions for her ability. She now has the vampire cosplayer under her control. She unwraps the bandages that she has around the guy and as he comes out he has a split second where he is confused but in the end, his eyes clear up and Karla says. "I could have crushed you when I had you wrapped with these bandages, next time I won't be so merciful."

I smirk a little as she says that. She literally just said that so people wouldn't immediately assume that she has the guy under her control as he gives up. 

….

When Karla comes at me she has a happy smile on her face as she says. "Sub, I think that we are pretty strong."

I smile at that too, we have been fighting top-notch assassins for so long that we have never looked at how strong we are when compared to the other normal Nen Users…

A/N: This is build up for something that is gonna happen soon. Also this is to show that Karla and the MC have a good relationship.
