9 Chapter 9: Stage 3 arrival

"Attention, attention we are now approaching the site for the third stage"

Eldred and his friends was awaken by the announcement, looking through the broken glass door Eldred could see the island as the airship was slowly approaching the landing strip that was just off the beach.

The island was not what anyone expected, they had thought it would have been an remote uninhabited island with dangerous monsters lurking at every corner.

Which in a way was true but what took the examines off guard is the large resort and hotels that was on the cost and inland of the island. The large buildings looked as though it was torn apart by war, the building were falling apart and had hug holes in the side there were even some building that totally collapse and now resting in its side.

If the builing wasn't damanged to that extent the stong salty ocean breeze had already start corroding the structures.

"Why are we here?" Silas asked as he look on at the view of the island, before Ulf could have make a comment everyone received instructions to prepare to exit the airship and have the third stage start.

On the landing strip the examines, took a seat as they wait for furthur instructions," They actually got time to prepare something like this" an examine shouted as he took a seat in the presentation area which was done as if it was a business meeting or an interview.

"They could have at lease given us sumn to deal ya dig"

Eldred was tapping his fingers and quickly glancing around searching for some sort of a clue to what is going on,"Damn should I have waited for Gon's year" Eldred mutters as he had an off feeling the moment he set foot on the island and went into Ten.

"Everyone attention" Beans tiptoe as he tried to reach the mic on the podium, after Beans took the mic the noisy beach became quite," This will mark the third stage of the exams, this stage will be a bit different there wouldn't be an examiner present"

"What" most of the examines shouted out.

"Let me explain first"-Beans said waking his hands around as he expected the examines to but confused and worried," You will be left on he island for 3 months your only goal is to survive"

"Is that all" An angry middle age man shouted out" what if we get injured"

"You are afraid of getting injured this is the hunter exams not some walk in the park" A burly man carrying a huge axe mocked" I'm guess there is more to the exams"

"Correct, the island is also home to a small group, they will be hunting you down... if you can avoid them for 3 months you will pass"-pointing to a small hut-" for those of you who feel like you can't finish the task you can quit there"

The muttering of the examines started and Eldred wasn't different he had already started discussing their plan of action with Ulf and Silas.

Would this be like in Gon's year but with persons hunting us down but who would be hunting us, Eldred couldn't get over the lack of information and tried his best to figure it out but in the end he couldn't and decided to go with the flow.

"Now everyone the stage has begun" Beans said hinting to everyone that they should leave.

Silas took a quick glance to his bodyguard as they were slowly approaching him and with no warning Silas grabbed Ulf and Eldred hands making a quick escape into the forest.

"They won't give up" Silas mutter as he dashed avoiding the undergrowth and branches blocking their way" Hurry"

Eldred and Ulf glanced at each other wondering why Silas was running from his bodyguards.

At first Eldred had thought Silas was just your spoil brat who ran away from home to find trill in the hunter exams after all situation like that is common but everytime the guards would get close fear would creep onto the face of Silas.

Ulf noticed that too, as the trio stoped in a small clearing which provided them with good enough vegetation to block their view, Ulf took a seat to stop his body from trembling and asked,"S-Silas are you in danger?"

"No why would you think that" Silas quickly answered and laughs passing it off," I told you guys before its just a game I we does play"

'Game?' Eldred questioned as he remember the faces of guard. While Eldred tried to find a way to get Silas to tell them the truth he started to hear rustling in the bushed and cracking of twigs."Ulf, Silas"

"We hear it" they answer in sync.

"Good morning" A man wearing bulletproof vest said as he walked out into the clearing," I see that we've run into each other, why don't we make a team and pass the exams"

As the man said that two more persons came out and they started to circle around everyone,"I'm sorry sir but we rather say together as they are my big brothers" Eldred responded with a childish voice as he took a step forward closing the distance between them.

'Does this kid think I'm stupid' The man thought as he looked at their hair color that's not possible unless their mother was.

"Boss we don't have time for this" a rather tall and muscular man shouted as he pulled a knife and target Ulf who seemed to be the strongest of the three.

"Ulf" Silas shouted but Ulf had already jumped up as he attempt to land a liver chop but it missed the force of the punch made Ulf trip and was pinned to the floor.

"Just a leg" The man shouted as he brought the knife down to Ulf's leg but he was stopped by a tree branch Silas swung to the man's head.

"Get up Ulf" Silas shouted as he knew Ulf was the old way to win, but Ulf tremors started.

"why-y does does it have to start start now" Ulf shouted out as he started to throw punched if it wasn't hitting just before the man's face it would miss completely.

Eldred was already prepared for a fight and he charged at the 'boss' using his small size to his advantage as the boss underestimated him,"kid just listen to" he couldn't finish his sentence as he was knocked out cold.

While Ulf and Silas was trying to deal with the large man, Eldred had quickly stopped the other from interfering.

"Silas, ready" Ulf shouted with out trembling and determination.

"Fine" Silas replied throwing his body at the large man pushing him away while giving Ulf a clear shot.

With a perfect swing of his hand Ulf Landed a right hook and before he knew it he was throwing a liver chop which grazed Silas.

Silas was ready to shout and complain at Ulf but he noticed a burning sensation on his face,"huh I was cut?"
