266 Chapter 243: War

The wolves and I stand at the top of a hill, down this hill is Autue and to the far left is a battlefield filled with cries, roars and desperate calls for help. 

I am witnessing a war. The first battle of what I know will be long, arduous and gruesome. The heat of the Marquess' flames licks into the air, burning up to the top of the hill we stand on. 

This is the first true war I've witnessed, with dismemberments, bloody and horrific deaths that are most certainly permanent. In my past life I'd only seen violence of gangs and participated in them. 

Breaking legs, popping kneecaps, shattering teeth and when the extremes come to it, shooting people dead. But a gun is such an impersonal tool of chaos and violence, the modernity of it allows any man, woman and child to wield it and take a life.
