13 A looming threat

After leaving the adventures guild I head to the location of the herb gathering quest, it was not far from ladro city.

Reaching my digestion it was a forest near a village between the hebrei kingdom and mali, I first go to the village to ask about where I could spot this herb frequently and then head towards the location they pointed.

The herbs were present at the edge of the forest where you could spot some unevolved or 1st evolution monsters.

After roaming around the outskirts of the forest I finally spot the plant I was looking for, this herb is commonly used for making low-level strength potions, after collecting them I start heading back to the village to rest for the day.

As Leo get closer to the village he could see smoke coming from the direction of the village, seeing this he starts to run in that direction.

Getting closer Leo could hear screams of despair all around some from parents who lost their children or children who had suffered the same fate.

Looking around Leo could see that the village was in tatters with flames all over and no standing buildings in the immediate vicinity, as he starts moving around the village all he could see or hear were burning houses and screams of despair.

Finally, after observing the situation for a bit I go around asking what had happened and the only response I could get was that they were attacked by a horde of weird-looking monsters with red veins all over their bodies, this was strange because the only monster present near the village was from the forest where I just came from and they said they were attacked in a horde so how could I have not sensed so many monsters moving at once.

Even if they were attacked by monsters it could only have been by unevolved or 1st evolution ones and judging from the power level of this village when I came before they could have easily defended against these types of monsters.

"Sage analyze the residue mana left behind by the monsters and tell me their evolution level."

{Yes host}

After that I leave the village as there is nothing I could do, if I would have come earlier maybe I could have saved them, then I hear great sage's voice in my head

{Host there was a special distortion in this place but it has been healed recently}

For someone to create a special distortion they have to be a god-level powerhouse but why would a person of that level attack a small village in the middle of nowhere and judging by the state of the village there was a clear struggle there if a person of that level attacked they would have died in an instant without any struggle.

{Host judging by the mana left behind all the monsters that attacked the village were all 1st evolution monsters but there is some weird energy mixed with mana, so I think that energy is the reason for the monsters to grow powerful}

Energy other than mana it could not have been beast ferum because all the monsters were 1st evolution, "Sage could you identify what that energy is"

{No Host, as there is no data on this particular energy in your memory but I could analyze it for future references}

"Then could you point me in the direction they went"

{Yes Host, from the mana trails left behind they went in the north-east direction}

After walking in the same direction for 2 hours, sage informs me that the energy trail disappears here, looking around I think was in the same forest but in a different location, "Sage is there a spacial distortion in this place as well?"

{Yes Host, there was a spacial distortion here as well, and judging by the energy signature it was the same person who did it near the village.

Then I look around to find some clues as to who that person could be and what was their reason for attacking that particular village, sometime later I find a corps of a 1st evolution monster what was weird about this was that its body was sucked dry of blood.

Coming near it I inspect the body closer to find there were no holes from which its blood could have been sucked out, what I noticed was that there was no battle and the monster died without it realizing.

After inspecting it a bit more I store it in my inventory and instruct sage to analyze it, speaking of inventory I completely forgot I hand one, I usually store all my stuff in the sub-world after storing the corps of the monster I enter my sub-world to rest for the night.

Walking up the next day I do some light workouts and start heading towards ladro city to inform them about the attack and give them the corps of the monster as proof, sage already analyzed the corps of the monster and could not find how it got its blood sucked out.

It took me five hours to reach ladros city coming inside I head straight to the adventures guild to complete my quest and to inform them about the attack, after informing them about the attack they were not surprised because small villages and kingdoms are destroyed quite often so they just shrugged it off as a regular occurrence but after seeing the corps of the monster they took the matter more seriously because there were only a few monsters who fed on blood and they were of a high level.

Exiting the adventurers guild I head to my sub-world to grind the dungeon as well as to upgrade my skills and my weapons, I had gotten a large amount of Exp and Sp from the quests completed.
