I Am Darien Thaos

After Death called me that name, my eyes immediately closed, and when they reopened, I was lying on the dirt ground of the Coliseum arena looking up at the sky.

Aurona and Samuel's faces were hovering over in worry, and they were shouting my name.

"Darien! Dude, please come back to us!!" Samuel cries in my ear.

I groan and sit up slowly.

"Ugh, what happened?" I ask in pain while rubbing the back of my head.

"We were training you, but then you-"

Aurona held up a hand to silence Samuel.

"Darien, what is the last thing you remember?" She asked me.

"The last thing?" I asked, still out of it.

After thinking for a bit, my skin shivered, and my hands trembled slightly.

"He gave me a name. He said he wanted to give me his surname..." I said.

"Who?!" Samuel asked suddenly.

Aurona popped him in the forehead before going back to talking to me in a severe calm voice.

"What was the name they gave you, Darien?" She asked me, looking deep into my eyes.

"He said my name was now Darien Thaos. Prince Darien Thaos of The Withergate Empire."

Our walk home was awkward.

Samuel was blanking on the name thing, but Aurona looked like the world had exploded when I said that.

And when she explained who owned that name to Samuel? He wasn't much different.

They asked me why he wanted to bless me, but to be honest? I couldn't remember. I was drawing a blank.

Throughout our walk, I was calm and even acted according to the situations in front of me.

"Darien? I have to ask," Samuel voices out when I was finishing up dealing with some merchants. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, why?" I ask back, handing the merchant a gold piece and continuing walking.

"It's just that...for someone who didn't know how to deal with most of this world at the start of the day, you seem like you've been born and raised here," Samuel says, scratching his cheek.

I stop walking.

He's right, though. This morning my knowledge was little to none, and I couldn't even locate the Coliseum if I wasn't following these two.

But right now?

Right now 'I'm' the one walking first and taking the lead on where I want to go.

...

Like I knew all this information like the back of my hand.

When we arrived home, we had to tell my parents what had happened.

They were in shock, and the fact that it was Death who had blessed me made it even more shocking.

I guess the guy has never blessed anyone in the existence of the Spiritual Realms of the Living Realm.

Aurona chose to stay here tonight, but I made her sleep separately from me, which she laughed about, and Samuel decided to go home.

He wanted his father to know what happened today as well.

"Today was weird," I sighed to Ivan as we walked to my room. "Not only did I spar like my life was on the line, but I got to meet Godfather Death Thaos."

"Godfather Death... 'Thaos?' Is that his actual title Young Prince?" Ivan asked with interest.

I nod and grumble.

"Yeah, and he gave me his surname, which is how my name changes."

"Ah, that is why Young Prince told His Highness and Her Majesty that he was now 'Darien Thaos' of Withergate." Ivan nods in confirmation.

"Yep. Anyhow, thanks for escorting me to my room Ivan. it's always a pleasure." I tell him once outside my room doors.

Ivan bows and heads off.

I drag myself to bed and stare up at the canopy bed's ceiling.

"Today was just as hectic as yesterday. And the day before that. Guess tomorrow will be too. Fuck, this is a drag..." I groan before turning onto my sode and falling asleep.
