18 Early Morning

I wake up once again, except this time it's to the quiet vibrations of my alarm. It is now 6:30 am. Oh yeah, the alarm. I pull myself out of my nightmare induced sleep and stumble blindly out of bed, which is not recommended when you sleep on the top bunk. I miraculously manage to get down safely, but forget why I'm down here in the first place. Oh yeah… I was going to shower. Just because I like to wake up early doesn't mean I'm articulate. I grab my towel and my little travel size bottle of shampoo, and away I go. It's strangely comforting walking around these dark halls. Everything is always so crowded in the daytime, but this is very peaceful. Someone, probably Susana, is starting up breakfast in the cafeteria. Since no one else is around, I can really take a good look around and look at all the details. I pass the preteen room, for 10-12's, the teen room, for 13-15's, and I've just left the older teen room (which is for 16-19's). Once I reach the locker room, I notice it's surprisingly clean. Not sparkling, mind you, but cleaner than at the end of the day when I usually shower. I hang my towel up on the hook outside the shower, without having to worry about someone taking it or mistaking it for their own. I turn on the water and immediately wake up. Water can work magic at 6 in the morning. I try to come up with what I can say during the interview, which reminds me that I need to get recommendations from Susana and Noah. I rehearsed what would be a rough draft of what I'll say during my interview. "Hi," I say to no one. "I'm Miah. Thank you for letting me meet with you." This is when I will shake Mr. Giacomo's hand. Hypothetically, Mr. Giacomo will ask me why I interviewed and if I've had a job before. "Well, I recently got kicked out of my parents house so I could use the money and the job experience." I would say to him. In a perfect world, he would say "Well congratulations welcome to the team!" but alas, that's not always not how it works. I can feel the rest of the shelter slowly start to come to life, so I figure it's time to get out of the shower. I quickly and quietly get dressed and run back to the teen room (the OLDER teen room). I check the time when I get back and find out that it's 7:00. I have about another half hour to sleep, so I simply climb back into bed and pass back out.
