Prologue

Prologue

In the shadows of history, there exists a tale of a wizard, one of immense power and unyielding determination. This wizard would stop at nothing to achieve their goals, even if it meant standing against the most formidable dark force of their time - Voldemort.

While many believe that Harry Potter was solely responsible for Voldemort's eventual downfall, few realize the intricate web of events that unfolded behind the scenes. This is the story of the one who guided Harry Potter toward the Horcruxes, but not out of altruism. No, this was a journey undertaken for personal motives, motives that will gradually unravel in the course of this tale.

This is the story of Malach Slytherin, a wizard who navigated the thin line between light and darkness. He delved deep into the mysteries of the magical world, leaving those around him to question whether he was a dark wizard or a champion of the light. Ultimately, he became known as something far more enigmatic - Death itself.

Join us as we embark on a journey through the life and legacy of Malach Slytherin...

Chapter 1: A Fateful Evening

Leicester Square, London, Odeon Luxe

Outside the Odeon Luxe, the streets teemed with people who had just emerged from a screening of the recently released film, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2." Animated discussions filled the air, ranging from the film's ending to the poignant moments, character deaths, and the heartwarming epilogue featuring Harry Potter's children.

Among the crowd, three friends walked side by side as they exited the cinema, their voices blending in the post-movie excitement. However, one of them, James, paused for a moment, his gaze shifting skyward, lost in thought.

He couldn't help but wonder, "Why did so many have to die for the so-called greater good?"

His two friends noticed his momentary halt and called out, urging him to catch up.

"James, we need to get going! We might miss the new episode of Danmachi!" one of them reminded him.

James shook off his reverie and joined his friends. Looking at Ryan, he quipped, "You're the only one who cares about that, Ryan."

Ryan, unfazed by the playful banter, retorted, "And you're the reason we went to watch Harry Potter in the first place."

Their third friend, Jack, burst into laughter at their exchange.

"Oh, come on, Jack. At least James isn't a closet pervert like you, ogling boobs and breasts. Plus, your favorite show is High School DxD. Can't get a real girlfriend, so you resort to animated characters. What a disgrace you are to your family and your future girlfriend... or should I say, your non-existent girlfriend?"

Ryan's roast left both friends momentarily stunned, but Jack managed to regain his composure and promptly delivered a swift kick to Ryan's nether regions.

In the aftermath of their playful banter, the trio continued their journey, bound for their parked car.

Chapter 1 (continued)

POV Change: James

After their initial scuffle and banter, which was customary for the trio, they reached the car. James, grateful to be out of the bustling crowd, took a seat in the back of the old Volkswagen owned by Jack, the most responsible of the group since their kindergarten days.

Feeling the exhaustion catch up to him, James decided to take a nap for the duration of the ride home. He put on his headphones to block out the heated debate between Jack and Ryan about the merits of different anime shows.

Suddenly, he was jolted awake, his headphones falling to the backseat. The cacophony of his friends' panicked cries and the blaring horn of an oncoming truck filled his ears. Instinctively, Jack swerved the car in an attempt to evade the truck, but the truck followed suit, leading to a devastating collision.

The car bore the brunt of the impact on its left side as shattered glass filled the interior. In those harrowing moments, James could hear the agonized screams of his friends, along with his own, echoing in the confined space. Jagged glass had pierced his skin, causing him to bleed profusely. With each passing second, his vision dimmed, and the world became a blur of pain.

Through the agony and disorientation, James could make out the distant wail of approaching sirens, signifying the arrival of an ambulance. Spurred by adrenaline, he fought to escape the partially crushed vehicle, but his strength waned as his lifeblood seeped away. Doctors and paramedics arrived at the scene, muttering about his slim chances of survival.

Author's Note (A.N.):

As a new author, I'm committed to delivering enjoyable and readable chapters. I aim to provide at least one chapter per day until we reach 50 public releases. After that, the schedule will transition to one chapter daily on Patreon, and one chapter every three days for the public.

I kept this prologue relatively short because I felt it was getting too long for an introductory chapter. However, moving forward, each chapter will be at least 1000 words long.

This fanfic will deviate from the typical Harry Potter storyline, introducing changes and additions. Readers on Patreon will have the opportunity to participate in polls to influence the choice of a heroine and whether the story will include a harem. Visit my Patreon at patreon.com/EyeOfSilver to be part of this decision-making process (remove the period between "pat" and "reon"). Your feedback and engagement are greatly appreciated!
