SandCastles (I)

Freshly back from his near death, O'shea finally understood how difficult it would have been for him alone to achieve success in the ritual he was planning. He also understood that his life would probably have ended, it just stayed in his body only because an elder from his family or an ancestor interfered otherwise that damn politician would have taken over his body.

The ritual he was planning would have made his body more acceptable to the magic but it backfired as the ritual itself was a success but the newly strengthened magic flow caused his body to fragment. This caused his soul to dissipate but the elder preserved his soul alongside excessive energy of ritual and helped it restore in pristine condition back where it belonged.

Now comes the interesting part when somehow the politician's soul crossed over in his body which was vacated due to his own soul dispersing. The memory which flashed in his brain not only reminded the politician of his life but also that of politician's

life to him. As his soul was restored and to the original body by replacing the external entity, which was surprisingly easy enough with the guidance of his ancestor, his control over his body returned. The other soul should have simply left his body but rather it somehow dissipated and since the soul is in itself a pure form of magic so instead of leaving his body it strengthened his existing soul and with the completed ritual stacked on top of a strengthened soul he could safely say that his magic power skyrocketed. Now that everything was over now only dissecting the memory of that politician was left.

But first, SandCastles. After breakfast, O'shea carried his sister to the creek near his house. Since, his parents weren't going to disturb him before lunch as he has promised to care for his sister, so he set a hammock to rest in the shade of a tree. Then some snacks and he was all set to spend the day with the cherubic angel.

When his soul was dissipating the memories of his life were flashing before his eyes one by one. The regret he felt the most when his life was going to be no more was the time he spent with his family . His father was a newly minted high wizard of the family while his mother was already high wizard and currently one of most expected witches in younger generation touted to become the next warlock in the family. She was one of the most talented witch in the family for generations now with her talent being compared to legendary witches like Rowena Ravenclaw. The continuous upgrade of mother's magical talent and the fierce rivalry between the family for resources has caused some rift between my parents but mostly me and my sister where untouched by it.

Both of my parents like to spend their free time with the children but I was always busy fantasizing about the greatness of the family and the enormity of the magic which I can perform when I will become a great magician. I used to spend most of my time doing magic research and reading ancient myths in the family library, which may sound hilarious now in the hindsight as what magic research can an adolescent boy do in a family of generational wizards.

This has caused an invisible wall to be built between me and my family members but withstanding that even though my relation with my family remembers was distant, it was not particularly bad to speak of. This near death or probably death experience has given me a lot of perspective about my upcoming journey in life.

My sister, on the other hand was loved throughout the family, even factions opposing my parents agreed that my sister was cuteness overloaded. I was not present at the time of my sister's birth, but I have heard from other members that even when she was newly-born, crying and smelly, she was a beloved of my grandmother who was the sister of current patriarch. Supposedly that was the reason behind her name too, she was named as Shayna by the family elders, as she was a blessing to the family, the first and only female child born in my generation.
