__________

The exams finished in three days for the Fourth Years. They still had two weeks left at the Academy. Charlus was excited because he would participate in his first tournament during the last two weeks.

Madame Maxime's Office | 1st May 1989 | 11 AM

"Professors, as I have said multiple times, no one cheated in the entirety of the first years. I even paid special attention to the child like you all told me to. No one cheated."

The person who invigilated the Fourth Years during their Final exams was standing in front of all the Professors and Madame Maxime.

"I do not understand Professor Mason? Is there some problem? Any irregularity or discrepancy?"

Madame Maxime did not understand the Professors' interrogation of the invigilator.

"You do not understand Head Mistress. I started correcting the papers of the Fourth Years and I came across Charlus Potter's. I would have been surprised if he got 80% on the paper. Anything below that was easy to get. But understand my shock when Mr Potter hadn't gotten a single question wrong. I knew something was wrong. No one else had achieved this feat in the entire grade. How can I accept that these marks are from a person who hasn't paid any attention to my classes? I immediately notified the other Professors. They checked Mr Potter's work and found that he has scored a perfect 100 on every test he has written! How many people in the history of this prestigious Academy have achieved this feat Headmistress?"

Madame Maxime sighed.

"There is a method to finding whether or not Mr Potter has cheated, but I highly recommend against using this method."

This comment from Madame Maxime piqued the interest of the surrounding Professors.

"You can request Mr Potter to be in front of you and write a new paper devised by you right in front of you. However, this means that you are openly showing your distrust in the child and if the student turns out to be innocent, you will have to publicly apologize to him."

"Fine."

The Herbology Professor agreed. The other professors also agreed.

"No. I do not wish to be part of this."

Professor Reinhart refused to test Charlus.

"Professor Reinhart. Surely you don't think that Mr Potter has achieved these marks by his own merit."

"I do. I have seen him in my classes and I am confident in his capabilities. I do not see the reason to test him. I also find the distrust you have in a student as well as the system itself quite unbefitting of a professor."

Professor Reinhart left the room.

The other Professors also left the room to prepare the question papers. They spent the entire day on it.

Dueling Club | 2nd May 1989 | 9 AM

Charlus got ready for his first match. It was against a fifth-year named Robbie. Charlus got his wand ready and faced Robbie. He took a deep breath and calmed his mind.

"Begin!"

The referee announced the beginning of the duel. Robbie immediately started attacking Charlus.

"Flipendo."

Charlus tried to defect it with a Protego. However, he wasn't able to cast the spell fast enough and the spell hit him. Charlus lost his footing but he quickly recovered.

He expected the next spell coming at him. No one would miss a crack in the opponent's defence. He blocked the incoming Disarming Charm with a Protego.

"Flipendo."

Another spell came his way. Charlus' only experience of duelling was with Nasper, Lucifer and Nicholas Flamel. He hadn't experienced any fast-paced duels with people who could cast spells as fast as Robbie.

Charlus tried to dodge the Flipendo and succeeded.

Charlus decided that his defence wasn't getting him anywhere and decided to start attacking.

"Expelliarmus!"

Robbie dodged the spell.

"Incarcerous."

Charlus sent another spell. Robbie smiled. He caught the rope with his bare hands. Once all the rope was released, he threw it back at Charlus.

"Incendio."

Charlus burnt the incoming rope. When he looked back at Robbie, he saw a yellow light coming towards him. The light hit him and pushed him off the duelling platform.

"Winner - Robbie! Robbie - 1 win, 0 losses. Charlus - 0 wins, 1 loss."

The referee announced the results and Charlus sighed with disappointment.

"It's alright Charlus. It's just one tournament. You can try next time."

His friends who were watching his match tried to console him.

"You were very good."

"What next time? I'm not out of the tourney yet."

His friends were confused.

"I have to lose thrice to get kicked out. That was the second seed so it was expected that I would lose."

Before his friends could even react, a student came into the Dueling Club and called for Charlus.

"Charlus Potter is required in Madame Maxime's Office."

Charlus stood up with a curious expression on his face. He followed the third year who called him.

"Do you know why I have to be there?"

"I don't know. But I heard from the Professors there that you have to write some test."
