38 Chapter 38 Extra

In the Potions Office,

Professor Snape was holding a small booklet and remained silent.

The booklet was the official illusion and techniques of "Garden of Eden" the spell Arthur had sent him as a gift.

Thinking of Arthur, Professor Snape's mind was still somewhat complicated.

They were both half-bloods, both in love with a precious witch, both were very talented, and both had amazing talent in Potion-making.

However, this kid was better than him in other subjects.

But, the two of them made very different paths. Snape chose Slytherin, but Arthur chose his little witch.

Sometimes, Professor Snape would also wonder, what if he had gone to Gryffindor at that time? Would everything be different?

That's why he has always been paying attention to Arthur because Arthur represents another possibility, a possibility that Severus Snape most desires.

But now, Arthur has sent this spell to let Severus Snape find the answers on his own.

Professor Snape looked through the booklet and read Arthur's introduction to the spell: "The better you know a person, the closer you can shape the spell to resemble reality."

Professor Snape was confident that he was the person who knew Lily and that despicable James Potter was the best. He knew them better than anyone else, including James's friend, Sirius Black.

With that in mind, Professor Snape gritted his teeth and began to learn the Garden of Eden spell.

With his current level, he successfully mastered the spell in less than half a day. Without hesitation, he pointed his wand at his temple and pulled out strands of smoke.

"Garden of Eden, arise!"

As he recited the incantation, the scenery in front of Professor Snape changed, and he found himself in the scene of his sorting ceremony.

As he looked at the face that he would never forget, Professor Snape's eyes filled up with tears.

He took a deep breath to calm himself and then forcefully injected his own soul into the body of his younger self, replacing it completely.

...

In the mental space,

Severus Snape walked up to the platform and put on the Sorting Hat.

"Not bad talent, hmm, bloodline is acceptable too," The lazy voice of the Sorting Hat came.

"Shut up! I want to go to Gryffindor!" Severus Snape heard the same words as before and immediately interrupted.

"Boy, what did you say?" The Sorting Hat was confused, it had never seen a rude young wizard.

"I said, shut up! I want to go to Gryffindor, I don't care about bloodline, ambition! I just want to go to Gryffindor!"

Severus Snape yelled in his soul and shouted impatiently.

The Sorting Hat seemed scared and immediately agreed, "Gryffindor! Kid, take me off your head now!"

Severus Snape quickly took off the hat and walked down the platform, coming to the girl who had appeared in his dreams countless times but whom he could never see again.

"Lily..." he murmured softly, as if his voice might scare her away.

"I never thought you'd come to Gryffindor. You always said you wanted to go to Slytherin," Lily said happily, not realizing that Severus Snape had already replaced himself with someone else.

"Wherever you are, I'll be there," Snape replied firmly, surprising Lily with his words.

A blush appeared on her face.

"What... What did you say?" Lily's voice was stuttering.

"We're best friends, so of course we should be in the same house, right?"

Severus Snape realized his mistake and tried to play it cool. He had gotten too excited.

...

After being sorted into Gryffindor, Severus Snape, feel like he doesn't belong here, but he spends more time with Lily and avoids saying hurtful words.

As their friendship deepened, they attended classes together, went to the library together, and studied potion-making together.

James Potter, seeing how close the two were, no longer had any opportunity to bully Snape and instead pursued a Quidditch team member.

Their paths continued to cross less and less.

Unfortunately, their happiness did not last. The entire wizarding world fell into darkness due to Voldemort, and Lily joined the Order of the Phoenix because of her admiration for Dumbledore.

In the end, both of them sacrificed themselves on a mission.

...

In Reality, Potions Office

Professor Snape regained his consciousness, slowly opening his eyes.

Although it seemed like a long time had passed in his memory, it had only been a few minutes in reality. Snape's lips curled into a smile, even though tears were running down his face and leaving deep traces on his cheeks.

He could finally be sure that Lily had feelings for him, and it was his own actions that had destroyed everything, letting Lily slip through his fingers.

Some people, once missed, are missed forever...

(PS: This is my extra to the regret between Snape and Lily, a small side story, and there won't be any more plot like this in the future.)
