8 The Inquisitor

Gavin turned his head in the direction of the familiar voice and smiled once he saw Cass at the side of the store, waving his hands. At his sides were two boys who were also looking in his direction. The boy on his left had neat brown hair and brown eyes while the one on his right had slightly messy black hair and gray eyes.

Gavin then led Hermione and made his way towards Cass and his friends, weaving through the horde of wizardkind. When he finally got there, Cass looked at him and Hermione and smirked.

"Damn Gav, it hasn't even been a day and you've already got yourself a girlfriend? Can't say I'm not surprised." Cass said, chuckling. Hermione blushed furiously but Gavin scoffed and rolled his eyes.

"Oh shut up Cass, she's just a friend." He replied.

"Right…I suppose you two must be my brother's friends? Hi, I'm Gavin Everhart. Gav for short." Gavin continued with a faint smile, changing the topic and stretching his hands out for a handshake.

"Yes we are… Roger Davies." The boy with brown hair replied amiably, shaking Gavins hands.

"Cedric Diggory. I've heard a lot about you from your brother." The boy with black hair responded with a chuckle, also shaking Gavin's hand.

"All good things I hope?" Gavin responded, chuckling as well.

"Well, if you count 'annoyingly smart' and 'lazy' as good things then yeah I suppose." Cass interjected sarcastically, smirking at Gavin.

Roger, Cedric and Hermione laughed at Cass' comment. Gavin just chuckled, knowing Cass was just messing around. He knew for a fact that his brother doted on him. Though, he always liked embarrassing Gavin in public. Gavin knew it was just his nature and didn't mind it because it made him feel like a younger sibling, a feeling he liked a lot. It was a subtle reminder that he wasn't alone anymore for him.

"Ah, Gav. Roger, Cedric, and I were just talking about the new broom that just got released." Cass suddenly said, pointing at the broom on display behind the window of Quality Quidditch Supplies.

The broom was long and sleek, with neatly arranged bristles wrapped in a golden ring. On the broom's head, 'Nimbus 2000' was inscribed.

Gavin was pleasantly surprised. He had suspected that the Nimbus 2000 was the cause of all the commotion but dismissed it because he thought that the commotion was too large for it. Of course, he had also considered the commotion to be because the broom was released today but thought that it was somewhat unlikely since the books never mentioned when exactly it was released.

"It's the fastest broom right now. Roger, Cedric and I were thinking about buying a new broom for the new school year so we've been fantasizing about it." Cass added with a smile.

"Did you guys end up buying it?" Hermione asked, curiously.

"Well, to be specific, Cass did. He bought the broom for all of us, the bloke." Cedric said, a large smile visible on his handsome face.

"Yeah, we didn't believe him at first but when he did we were stupefied. We're gonna run the show in school this year." Roger added, also smiling.

"Right you are boys….right you are." Cass said, nodding his head in affirmation.

"Show off." Gavin scoffed and said

Everyone laughed at that. The group continued to chat happily about different things, mostly about Hogwarts and quidditch. After a few hours, they said their goodbyes and separated. Gavin and Cass returned home via portkey.

'Today was really fun.' Gavin thought as he laid on his bed and closed his eyes drowsily. On his stomach, Aelia laid, curled up in a ball.

[You should enjoy it while it lasts. Tomorrow, you're going back to training in full swing.] Aelia interjected, yawning with her tiny cat mouth.

[Can't you just let me have my moments?] Gavin laughed and said, looking at the adorable cat on his belly.

[No, where's the fun in that?] Aelia said, while closing her eyes and smirking.

Gavin just chuckled and closed his eyes as well. Soon, the duo drifted into the land of dreams, thus ending their eventful day.

~15th August, 1991.~

The sky was overcast today, an unusual sight during summers on Griffin's Cove. There were no birds in sight as well…..well, except from a large brown screech owl carrying a medium sized long box. The owl flew and landed upon a large window sill, gazing at what laid behind the window. On the other side, was a small living room with a large sofa and rug at its center.

The owl shifted its gaze towards the sofa. On the sofa's hand, a blue-eyed cat sat and gazed at it expressionlessly, making the owl shiver frantically. It felt as if its soul had been pierced by just gazing into the cat's eyes.

Hysterical, the owl was about to fly off when it heard a comforting, soft-spoken voice sound.

"Aelia you bully, stop scaring the damn owl." The voice said, drawing nearer.

The owl tilted its head in the direction of the voice, attempting to decipher its source. It seemed to originate from a blue-eyed handsome young boy. The boy walked up to the window, opened it and gestured for the owl to perch on his hand, to which the owl happily obliged. The boy, who could only be Gav, gazed at the box the owl had carried.

'My wand is finally here.' He thought, smiling brightly.

He then grabbed the box and unfolded the wrapping, revealing a long and sleek black wand case. Still smiling, Gavin opened the box gently and was immediately taken aback. He felt extremely ferocious heat radiating from within the case.

Gavin looked inside the case and saw a beautiful looking wand as well as a piece of parchment. Gavin grabbed the parchment and unfolded it to read it.

Mr. Gavin Everhart,

Coast of Scotland.

Dear Mr. Everhart,

I'm elated to inform you that your wand has been made. Making it was….extremely difficult to say the least, and it is definitely my most prized creation till date. The wand is 15 inches long, Unyieldingly Sturdy, and made of Acacia wood. Its core, is of course the peculiar griffin feather you presented me. This wand is very unique Mr. Everhart, I've never seen or made anything like it. When I made it, the wand gave me a feeling that it had already chosen a wizard and I couldn't even hold it once I was done with it since it incinerates anything that comes close to it instantly. I had to transfigure the box you gave me into a case to contain it.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to create this masterpiece. I hope you like it.

Garrick Ollivander,

Ollivanders, Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C.

South Side, Diagon Alley,

London, England.

Excited, Gavin immediately reached for the wand. As his hand came closer, he felt the extreme heat it was radiating but it didn't affect him since he was immune to fire and heat in general. As he touched the wand he felt as if he was taking a bath in a warm spring and he could even feel the wand's emotions. It felt as if it was…jubilant?

He took a closer look at the wand. It was light brown in color and had iridescent intricate looking golden carvings wrapping around its entire length. Gavin marveled at how alluring it looked.

'A wand as special as you certainly deserves a name…Let's name you…The Inquisitor…with you, I will unravel the mysteries and complexities of magic. You will be the inquisitor that enlightens the masses.' Gavin smiled and thought as he looked at the wand.

The Inquisitor's carvings glowed brightly, as if responding to Gavin's thoughts and gave Gavin the feeling that it was excited.

Smiling, he waved the wand and immediately felt a powerful resonance with it. Sunlight started to pour in through the windows. Gavin was surprised to see that so he quickly went towards the window to look outside. His eyes widened when he saw the sky.

The previously overcast skies were now cloudless. The sun was radiating intensely and seemed to be shining more brightly than normal. Gavin grinned and laughed as he took in the sight.

'Brilliant!' He thought, immensely satisfied with his new wand.

Thus, 'The Inquisitor.', the wand that would overthrow 'The Elder Wand' from its position as the most powerful wand in existence, was born….
