140 Chapter 140 : Dumbledore And A Thief 1

(Dumbledore POV)

As I strode through the halls of the Ministry of Magic, a sense of urgency weighed heavily upon me. It was Christmas and just now something like this happened.

Minister Fudge's urgent summons had hinted at a crisis of unprecedented proportions, one that threatened something much more than just a mere dragon attack.

I always knew that capturing a dragon and using it as a watchdog was a foolish idea. What were those Goblins where thinking?

Arriving at Minister Fudge's office, I found him pacing anxiously, he may be at good in politics and masking his features shouldn't be that hard for him but what I saw made me wonder just what happened exactly.

His brow furrowed with worry. The gravity of the situation was evident in his troubled countenance as he relayed the grim details of the dragon attack in Diagon Alley.

I knew that there is something more. After all for someone like Fudge, the most important thing for him is his own power. A few casualties in the dragon attack or bad rumours wouldn't sake him like this.

"Fudge, What happened, why suddenly call me this urgently," I asked and upon hearing my voice, the minister looked at me like I stole his life worth saving.

"Albus, this is bad, this is terrible. You have to do something Albus otherwise I don't know what will happen to the wizarding world," Fudge almost cried out.

"Calm down Fudge, I can't understand what you are doing. Take a deep breath and tell me clearly what happened," I said but it was clear that the minister wasn't in any condition of disclosing what going on with him.

"Here read this," Fudge too maybe knowing that he is too tense just handed over the documents to me. As I read the document my eyes widen like saucers.

My mind raced as I processed the implications of these revelations. A dragon attack was no small matter but that's fine it's easily forgotten and much destruction caused by the dragon can be repaired, but the disappearance of wealth from the most revered vaults!

This was big, bigger than anything he has had to cope with in recent times. That is not just wealth but the powers the noble purebloods have in the current wizarding world of Britain.

One side of my mind said that it was a good thing, this would knock down those pure bloods, among whom almost more than half are death eater, from their high horses. But on the other hand, the other side of my mind makes me think what are the consequences of this happening.

Minister Fudge's plea for assistance underscored the severity of the situation. The Ministry, despite its resources, was ill-equipped to unravel the complexities of such a nefarious scheme. It was clear that this case required a level of expertise and insight that only I could provide.

The biggest problem was where this has happened. Gringott is not a place that can easily be infiltrated.

How the thief even got inside was the biggest mystery.

[If only he knew that the thief is none other than a student from Hogwarts and he walked in from the front door like a boss. If only he knew.]

{Oi...Merlin, stop breaking the fourth wall, I swear I will cut your screen time short. The readers are complaining}

I assured Minister Fudge of my commitment to aiding the Ministry in its investigation. Together, we would delve into the shadows that lurked beneath the surface of our world, confronting the forces of darkness with unwavering resolve.

But that wasn't easy. I couldn't sense any lingering magic of any kind in the place. It was like a muggle looted the place instead of a wizard.

But that's impossible. There is no way a muggle can do that, and for a wizard to hide his tracks so well that even I can't sense his magic.

There is only one artefact that can do this.

"The invisibility cloak. One of the deadly hallows. Something which can even hide one from death itself. But that is with Rose." I mutter with confusion.

Even objects like Time Turner will not work. At best the turner can turn down time by a few hours at best.

But this happened a few days ago.

Not knowing what to do, I only had the only lead I had, going to Rose and seeing the cloak for myself.

Result the cloak was with her. And she never left the Dudleys.

Before I could think of any other way to find the criminal, a letter from my old friend Newt arrived.

"Hmm, did he learn about the dragon attack?

Why I am not surprised, If my guess is right then he is mostly likely going to plea the ministry for not harming the dragon. Typical Newt.

But upon opening the letter.

"What in the Merlin's name that boy is doing there !!"
