2 The Hogwarts Express

A week has passed since he got his wand, and the anticipation was killing him.

Being a muggle-born, he couldn't do magic since he didn't live in a place warded against muggles, but that was about to change.

His parents, Steven and Miranda, had bought a small estate, nothing luxurious but they are now the proud acres of 100 acres of land.

They were by no means rich but they knew after talking to Grimgor, their goblin account manager at Gringotts, that they needed a place warded by goblins against ordinary muggles for their son to be able to practice his magic.

And so, after two more days, and the purchase of a house-elf, they moved into their new home.

Being the muggles that they were, they treated the house-elf, Dundy, as if he was family. Often thanking him, giving him encouragement, helping him with his chores, giving him clothes, his own room, and free time to do whatever he wished.

The moment they entered the wards, Daniel caused his parents to laugh as he took out his books and sat on the ground, with his wand in his hand, he started reading and practicing as much as he could.

Starting with The Standard Book of Spells, Grade One.

With less than three weeks until he arrives at Slytherin, he needed some serious protection against all the pureblood supremacists.

He knew that the moment he cast the first-year spells on his first try that his affinities were no joke, even though they were basic spells, he couldn't wipe the smile off his face.

----- Steven & Miranda POV -----

Leaving their son to marvel at the wonders of learning magic, they entered their new home.

The estate had two floors, six bedrooms, three study rooms, two bathrooms, a magic dueling room, a trophy room, a large but empty library, and acres of land surrounding it.

Walking through the main doors, they are greeted by marble floors and pillars, a beautiful chandelier, fur rugs, moving paintings on the walls, and a lovely fireplace that makes the place more homely.

Putting his arms around his wife's waist, he chuckles at their situation, "Only a month ago, we never even knew that any of this world existed", his tone is filled with mirth and joy.

Leaning her head on his chest, he looks out the door to see her son's wand glowing, "Magic, dark lords, wizarding wars, dragons, werewolves, vampires... life certainly won't get stale"

Taking Steven's hand, they wander through the many rooms and explore to their heart's content.

----- Daniel POV -----

After a few hours of getting settled into their home, he got permission to practice his spells on one of the many trees surrounding their home.

Each couple of days were different, he spent his first four days learning the basics of magic spells such as Accio, Lumos, Nox, Wingardium Leviosa, Incendio, and Reparo.

The next three days after that, he studied all of the books on Potions, and even tried making them himself when he got the ingredients... he failed the first two times.

Then taking his second whole week to read up on dueling, how to stand and dodge efficiently, the proper customs, most common spells used, etc.

Since he didn't have time to get a proper mentor, he had to go off of what the books told him and his memories from the Harry Potter movies, fanfiction, and lore.

He guessed that it was thanks to his affinities that he didn't have any trouble with learning anything from books or casting magic.

Casting spells seemed to come naturally to him, he made potions like he had the talent of Severus Snape, and he had no problems transfiguring a match into a sharp pin with intricate patterns.

As the days continued to pass, he grew more confident in his spells and skills.

In his last week before Hogwarts, he found a new interest with some ideas running through his mind.

Wizards and witches enchanted clothes to stay clean, mend themselves, change sizes as they grew in height or weight, and give them adequate protection.

They also made Time-Turners but was that it? He couldn't find any books or information on the creation and enchantment of items that would increase the wielder's speed, strength, intellect, or magic control. If they could make potions, wands, and enchanted clothes, surely it was possible to make something akin to the Rings of Power from Lord of the Rings or forms of jewelry that would significantly help them.

After taking one of each book on Enchanting at Flourish & Blotts Bookseller in Diagon Alley, he was determined to learn as much as he can on the subject.

Without even realizing it, a week had passed and the day to leave for Hogwarts was upon him.

Standing in front of the absolutely gorgeous Hogwarts Express, the steam train toots its horn signaling for people to jump aboard for its departure.

Hugging his parents and kissing his mother's cheek, he is one of the last on the train.

Walking through the train, he weaves around the people settling into their compartments, making his way to the farthest away room.

Upon entering, he sees two girls, "Apologies for the intrusion, would you mind if I sat with you?"

After a long minute of gawking at the unbelievably handsome youth, the girls nod with a slight blush on their cheeks.

Closing the door behind him, he pulls out his wand, "Wingardium Leviosa", his spell lifts his suitcase into the holder above their heads.

The blonde greets him first as the other one is still gawking at him, "I'm Daphnee Greengrass, and this is my friend, Tracey Davis"

Snapping out of her thoughts, Tracey bursts into a large smile, "Are you a first-year? are you a pure-blood? why are you so pretty? How can you cast a spell already? can you cast other spells? what Hogwarts house do you think you will be in? do you have a girl-" before she can say anything more, her mouth is covered by Daphnee's hand.

Before Heir Greengrass can apologize on her friend's behalf, she is stopped by the smooth voice of the boy as he answers Tracey's onslaught of questions, "My name is Daniel Atlas, I am indeed a first-year, I am a muggle-born, I was born this way but thank you for the compliment, I trained incessantly as soon as I got my wand, I can cast over a dozen spells without failure, I do not doubt that Slytherin will be my home for the next seven years, and I am currently single"

Daphnee removes her hand from Tracey's mouth, "Do you have any idea on how we will be sorted? since you are so sure on your house, I figured you might know how we are sorted"

The boy flashes her a smile, causing her to give one of her own, which wasn't how she normally is, having studied in Occlumency, she was good at covering her emotions with a mask but this boy seemed to destroy that mask.

Daniel nods, "Once we are in Hogwarts Great Hall, we will sit on a stool and be sorted by a talking hat that was enchanted by the four founders of the school"

As they continued to ask and answer questions, share stories, they became friends, the sun had set, and night set in without them realizing it.

Author's Note: I know this is a lot smaller than the first chapter but this will be the average length of most of my future chapters.

Please do not expect daily upload, I have other fanfics I would like to make and release.

I'm hoping to do three chapters per week but don't hold me to that.

Thank you for nearly 200 collections on just the first chapter.

Comments and Reviews are more welcome than Power Stones.
