[Chapter Size: 1800 Words.]
Third Person POV
Hogwarts.
...
...
"Hm?!" Lily was surprised as soon as the scene changed while they were in one of the castle's corridors, where everything was calm, without even a ghost wandering around.
"Go to your room and rest." Lily looked at Snape behind her as he was preparing to leave.
"Wait!" Lily exclaimed, grabbing his arm, preventing him from walking away.
"What is it? You're still drunk, and I already took you out of that place since you were about to fall into one of your friend James' pranks," Snape said with an indifferent tone.
"James...? What did he do..." she murmured before looking at Snape. "I want to start over with you again... let me try one more time to be your friend..." she said.
Snape clicked his tongue. "You don't understand, I'm not Snape anymore, and I don't live his safe lifestyle. You don't even know what I'm capable of now," Severus remarked.
"Then prove it to me," she insisted. "Show me this new Severus!"
"Too dangerous for you. Goodbye." He began to force his departure.
"I still insist! Severus!" she exclaimed, not letting go of his arm as she was being dragged along.
"Tell me, what do you want...?" Snape looked at her, visibly dissatisfied.
"I won't let you leave without giving me a chance," she said, staring at Snape with her intense green eyes. Snape just wanted to put her to sleep, but he had no place to leave her.
"Well, if you really want this, then don't regret it later..." Severus decided, seeing Lily's insistence, though his tone was far from pleasant, while Lily kept a firm gaze.
"I don't care," she said, stomping her foot stubbornly, and Snape then resolved to teach this girl a lesson.
"Then let's go somewhere else, and you're coming with me. I was planning to go there today anyway." Severus said, looking into her eyes with a neutral tone, making Lily hesitate for a moment.
"Where are you planning to go?" she couldn't help but ask, feeling a little nervous as Snape opened a smile.
"We're going to the Forbidden Forest," Severus simply said, while she widened her eyes, stunned for a moment. But it was already too late. Snape had already touched her shoulder and disappeared by apparition.
The next moment, Lily realized that the candle-lit corridor near the Gryffindor entrance had been replaced by the darkness of the night, with the only source of light being the moonbeams filtering through the leaves of the black trees. The mist was another characteristic of the place as they now stood in an area forbidden to students, especially so close to midnight.
Snape looked at the girl, stepping back, seeing her quite bewildered this time, staring at the place filled with black, ancient trees, with fog all around.
"Now that you've seen where we are, do you want me to take you back?" Snape asked, making her look shocked for a moment before she looked at him with a firm gaze, warning him.
"Severus, do you have any idea what you're doing?! You know it's wrong to be here. It's not like you can just apparate here at night, and we could be expelled by Headmaster Dumbledore. Besides, how can you apparate like that? Aren't you afraid of being caught by the Aurors from the Ministry who are still investigating the castle, chasing that masked person who killed several dark wizards months ago? Also, it's forbidden for students who haven't registered their magic or are not in their sixth year. You've already used that in the common room. You'll be in serious trouble if you keep being so irresponsible!" Lily finished her speech full of reprimands, while Snape couldn't help but feel a bit stunned for a moment. After all, he had expected a scared girl whom he could easily take back to the castle.
"What do you think you are? My mother?" Severus couldn't help but mutter, bewildered, and continued before Lily could keep talking after hearing his words. "Listen, you wanted to see who I am. This is exactly who the real Severus is. I've already wasted too much time bringing you here. I'm going to take you back to the castle and continue on my way, so don't bother me," Snape said.
"No." she simply replied, making him raise an eyebrow.
"You know that if we get caught here, we'll be expelled, right? You'd better leave. After all, you care more about your grades than I do. I even have other plans if I get expelled from Hogwarts, so I'm fine with it." Snape finished.
"I'm not leaving you here," she retorted. "This is dangerous, Snape. Do you have any idea what you're doing?" She kept insisting.
Snape sighed, as if he didn't want to see how far she would persist. "Well, it doesn't matter. Let's take you back to school." He said this and tried to touch her.
"Hm?!" She took a step back, crossing her arms. "I don't know what you're planning to do here, but I'm staying with you," she declared.
Snape didn't expect her to say anything more and was ready to take her back by force, but suddenly he felt something in that space. It made him move quickly towards Lily before she could let out a small gasp of surprise at Snape's speed.
He grabbed her, disappearing like a shadow using another teleportation ability, not Apparition, while at the same time, the space distorted, and figures reappeared through Apparition.
There were four men and women dressed in formal clothes, these being the people monitoring the castle under the Ministry of Magic's orders, searching unsuccessfully for the one they had been looking for. The Ministry had mostly given up but still kept a few good people there to maintain appearances, with most having left.
"Are you sure this is the place? There's no one here," one of them said.
"I'm sure. Whoever created space to use Apparition within the castle came here. We should look for whoever did this; it's really suspicious to leave one of the castle corridors and come to the Forbidden Forest. Even more so for someone so skilled... I can't even track their magical signature from the Apparition..." the leader of the group said.
"There's nothing here... We'd better go back," one of the women suggested.
"Alright. Whoever this wizard is, they managed to fool us. But whoever did this, we'll find them..." the leader concluded. Seeing no one there, they left.
Meanwhile, about 50 meters away from that spot, Snape was leaning with his back against a tree trunk, out of sight of those Aurors, while holding Lily Evans by the waist and keeping a hand over her mouth to prevent her from making any sound that could give them away.
As soon as he noticed the Aurors had gone, he sighed, releasing her, and she let out a small groan of relief, looking at him with a frustrated expression.
"See what you did? Now we're being hunted. This could get us expelled or even worse!" She seemed a bit frustrated but, for some reason, wasn't angry at Snape.
"Yes, and I can't even take anything back to the castle now. After all, they'll surely figure out your location, and it'll be much easier for us to be found... With this high risk, you're coming with me," Snape said finally.
Snape began walking through the Forbidden Forest, leaving a still stunned Lily, who quickly started following him as they ventured deeper into the forest.
"What are you doing in this place?" Lily asked.
"I owe a debt to a being that lives here—actually, thousands of them... you'll understand soon," Severus said as he followed the path.
"I've never been this deep in the Forbidden Forest... there could be giant spiders, or even centaurs might see us as enemies!" she said, alarmed.
"I want you to stay close to me; we don't know when something might attack you," Severus warned.
"You sound like you've been here before," she acknowledged.
"Yes... I came once to gather some belladonna, and I plan to harvest more," Snape said, as he could begin producing his Hair-Growth Potion and earn more money.
Lily just followed him, still frightened, looking in all directions. She thought Severus was crazy for walking around here, especially at this hour. After walking for more than half an hour, she finally saw a large structure ahead. It seemed they had reached the place Snape wanted to go.
"What is that thing?" Lily asked.
"A giant spider nest..." Severus replied.
"What do you mean by that? Why are we here?" Lily looked at him, even more bewildered now.
"Simple, we came to get those plants over there," Snape said, pointing to a dark flower on the ground.
Without alarming the creatures, he calmly began to gather the flowers, as if it was something routine. Lily still thought it was all madness as she saw some creatures moving around them, seemingly observing him. She just watched him the whole time.
"Well, I think I've gathered enough for now..." Snape said, filling his bag and handing it to her. "I want you to keep this safe, alright? If anything happens, shout for help. And always keep your wand ready for anything. I'll try to protect you with whatever I can, but you also have to help me, understood?" Snape said, looking at the girl as he gave her the bag.
"What are you...?" Lily was quite stunned by what she was hearing and very confused about what those words meant. But she barely had time to react as Snape touched her shoulder, making her disappear and reappear in another location, a little farther away.
Meanwhile, Snape took his wand out of his inventory and pointed it at the Acromantula nest. "It's time for my revenge," he declared. Then, he simply cast a fire spell directly at the nest, illuminating the entire area with a booming sound echoing through the forest, now past midnight.
"What is he doing?" Lily murmured, watching everything.
Snape prepared for battle as he began to see the nest with small flames, trembling and revealing several creatures moving quickly through the nest's opening, trying to put out the fire or hunt down whoever was responsible for it.
There were over a thousand spiders there, and it was his chance to finally have his revenge against them. He realized that he intended to face them all.
In another location, in a cabin deep within the forest, an old woman woke up startled by the noise, wondering what was happening. She stood up to see what was going on since this was happening in her territory.
Snape finally had his real advantage against these creatures.
