Don't leave yet, Miss Song. Have a seat".
Her breath hitched at that, she let out a dry laugh and turned around. She sucked in a breath as her gaze fall on the ugly bruise around his left eye, she swallowed and clenched her fist at her side.
"Good morning, Chairman," she plastered a toothless smile on her face and sat next to Qin Tao.
She would have preferred to sit on the seat next to Qin Yumei which was a safe distance away from Chairman Qin if he wasn't watching her.
She was too nervous to eat and instead picked at her food. She rushed to her feet once the kids stood to leave which earned her a sharp look from Qin Shoiming.
Her heartbeat quickened, she avoided his gaze and turned to her youngest charge. "Tao Tao, let me escort you to the car".
Qin Tao nodded, turned to his father, and waved hus hand, "Bye Daddy"
Qin Shoiming set his cutlery down, his eyes softened as his gaze fell on the boy's chubby little face.
"Bye, Tao Tao. You be a good boy while you are in school. You remember what I always say right?'.
The boy's eyes were slanted and his lips curved. His wide smile showed that he was missing two of his front teeth.
"Yes, Daddy! Be respectful, and don't get into fights".
"Good," he smiled, "have fun in school".
"Yes, Daddy".
Song Ruoxin picked up his backpack and hung it on one shoulder. She flexed her fingers as she held his hand.
Qin Yumei gave her father a cold goodbye and left the room. Song Ruoxin stole a glance at the general who was spotting a troubled expression unsurprisingly.
It would seem that she was not the only person, the younger girl was giving an attitude. She stood by the door until the children's car was out of sight before going into the house.
She stood a few steps away from the stairs as Qin Shoiming called her back.
"Miss Song".
She sucked in a breath and. Counted to three before turning around, "Yes, Chairman"
He opened hus study door, stepped aside, and gestured to the open room, "Please join me, Miss Song".
"I...," She pressed her lips together and nodded. Her knee's buckled, and she clenched her hands at her side.
She stepped away from the stairs and walked to the open door. As she walked passed him, her gaze went to the bruise on his left eye.
She winced as she saw the darkened rims around his left eye which looked painfully. She averted his gaze as their eyes met and hurried onto the room.
She curled both hands inwards as she stood in front of the table. Qin Shoiming took a few phone calls before returning to his seat behind the desk.
Sweat beads appeared on her temple as he met her gaze. He looked cold and angry, she clenched her hands tighter and squared her shoulder.
"Miss Song, while I understand that you are new on the job. What you did last night was incredibly careless. It is unsafe to swim alone in the middle of the night.
"what if you had a muscle pull or worse slipped? Please make sure to observe all necessary safety measures.
"I am trusting you with the safety of my children, on not make me regret that. Since you just started, I am letting you off with a warning. There better not be a next time".
"Yes, Sir," she replied head bend low. She was about to make a move to leave when he said,
"I will cover any expenses you make when taking care of the children. I already had the bank issue a card, there is a limit on the card.
If you need it to be extended please inform Mrs Ma. She usually handles the household finances. Here is my card, call me if anything comes up, call Secretary Jin when you can't reach me".
He pulled the drawer open, took out the new black card and one of his business cards, and held it out to Ruoxin.
She froze and slowly released breath, her gaze went from the black card to him. For a few seconds, she just stared at the card.
She blinked and rushes to take the cards when he cleared his treat. She took out her phone and punched in his number, her had hovered at the call sign when she remembered that he might not have her number.
"That...," she looked up from the phone, "Should I give you mine_ that is do you have my number... Do you even need it or... Not..."
"No need, I already have your number".
"Oh?"
"It was in your application form".
She nodded, "Oh yes, how could I forget that." She pressed her lips together and looked away.
His lips curved, "You can go, Secretary Jin should be here by now".
"Okay," she gave him a nervous smile "Have a nice?"
She dashed out of the room after saying that, she ignored the strange look she got from the man in the dark green suit and rushed up to her room.
Qin Shoiming picked up his briefcase and passed it to his Secretary as he stepped around his desk. They needed to leave now to avoid the morning traffic on their way to the company.
"Chairman, what..." Secretary Jin's eyes quickly went to his boss's bruised left eye.
"I hit something last night," he touched the area just at the top of his cheekbone, "is it that bad?"
Secretary Jin blinked and glanced at the fresh black eye, "I guess it is a good thing that you are not meeting the board this week. I will try to control the staff wild imaginations".
Qin Shoiming smiled and face him a light pat on hus shoulder, "It might proof impossible to control those gossip-starved people, just let it go".
As Secretary Jin predicted news of the Chairman's black eye spread like wildfire as Qin Shoiming stepped into the company.
The directors and managers in the conference room kept trying to steal and glanced at Qin Shoiming as he walked in.
It was not every day that their strict boss came in looking less than perfect.
