20 19. The End

After thanking King Timaeus I brought up the one thing that I had been thinking about since quite a while. And thankfully he agreed. Although Seraph didn't seem too happy about it, and in the end decided to tag along.

I had requested to be allowed to go to the north. An impossible mission. The very thought was thrilling.

Coincidentally Eleece, Seraph's mom visited us at our home the next day. There was a lot we talked about and a lot of times when she reminded me to always take good care of her daughter. Once during all this when Seraph had headed back to the kitchen to bring out the dessert, Eleece pulled me to the side and gave me tips on how to make sure a woman is very satisfied in bed.

The next day though, I and Seraph were ready and we left for our new mission. We had no clue how long it would take, but I was pretty confident in our combined strength.

Epilogue:

It had been 10 yrs since I came to this world, and today as I stood on the scorched field of the Mer Island, I watched as a portal opened.

It was when I approached it with Seraph slowly walking behind, that I noticed what connected this world to my old one. Something had lit up on the ground when the portal opened. It was a magical formation.

I traced it with my fingers, chanting as I did so. Slowly the formation vanished and so did the portal. It was an extremely high level magic, something I had learnt from the demonic tribe during the mission of exploring the north.

"Are you really okay with this?" Seraph looked concerned.

In reply I rubbed my hand on her bulging belly, "I'm a father now. And although I have a family over on that side, the sacrifice would be too big. It would mean giving up on you," I kissed her, "the kids, and living a life under constant torture."

Seraph was now the Chief of the Mer Island. A few years ago we returned here, she challenged Undine to a duel and came out on top. And as per custom of the Merfolk, the strongest of their kind got to be the ruler.

Gadarla had followed us here once we got settled and we made an alliance with King Timaeus to fight together whenever anything foreign threatened any of our lands.

My daughter was 6yrs old now, and she really loved Eleece's cooking who lived in the house beside ours. Another kid was on the way and although I was a bit melancholic for what I had to give up, I was grateful for what I had here.

Apart from the once in a while duels with Gadarla, my time was mostly taken up by playing with Sylvia, my 6 yr old. And in taking care of Seraph as a stay-at-home husband so that she could do her job as the Chief of the Merfolk worry free.

"Where's Sylvie?" Seraph turned to me as we walked home.

"Last I saw her, the little devil was riding Gadarla and going around scaring ever child on the island."

"You really spoil her a lot," she shook her head.
