11 10. Kill A Kaiju?

Sweat rolled down my body as I lifted the weights that I had gotten made by a blacksmith long ago. My muscles strained, but I finally brought it up over my head, and did a squat.

These weights were much heavier than what I was used to back on earth... which was now, gosh, 10 months ago?

After a couple more repetitions I tried to drop it gently on the ground, but it still made thin and long cracks across the floor. Should have been gentler. Seraph would be so angry at me for this.

Walking out the room, I placed a cotton cloth across my shoulders and went down a floor to the bathroom. Seraph and I had purchased a two storey house not too long ago after we ended up destroying the inn's backyard more than just a couple of times during our practice duels. And were forced to move out.

I had shared a room in an inn with her for a long time, sharing a house was no big deal. Yet even as I think that, I feel that it's a little symbolic of something.

"Hey Tae," she said as she hugged me from behind, "you done bathing?"

I tousled her hair, "Yeah, almost. I'll be out of here in a minute."

"Don't need me to wash your back this time?" She looked at me quizzically, still not letting go of her grasp.

"Well, with this scrubber I recently got made I don't need help with that, but you're still welcome to," I smiled.

'Kaiju, stats.'

Kaijufication halfway.'

Soon it was Seraph's turn and I helped her out with her back. It was kind of difficult washing mermaid scales, but the kaijufication had made the task a breeze.

Hell, I myself had a few scales growing on my forearms, not to mention the two small blunt stubs on my head which I assumed would grow into full fledged horns at some point. But so far that was the only mutation that my body had gone through on the outside, except for the change in my eyes that took place after I consumed the blood of my first kill long ago.

By the time we were done and got out of the bathroom, there was a mechanical messenger bird waiting for us by the window of the living room. With a scroll in its beak that it dropped as soon as it noticed us.

I picked up the scroll and began reading,

"Slifer City. There's a Berserk Sentry moving towards the royal capital, City of Sages. Kill it if you need to, incapacitate it if you can before it reaches the capital.

Identifying features: It's humongous and going wild. No way you can miss it.

Details: It's affinity is earth, and can spout fire too. It's uncertain but it's belly is said to be weaker than the rest of its body.

The travel expenses will be repaid on your return.

Reward: 5000 gold coins."

This was big. Sentries going berserk wasn't a common phenomenon, but it wasn't entirely rare either. Good thing was they weren't completely unbeatable, bad thing was that we had ever only faced one Sentry in our lives and had no idea how much stronger other Sentries could be.

It would be worth it though. If we succeeded, we would finally have enough money to move to the capital city where according to the intel Seraph gathered, her mom was living as a chef.

Also, it would give me the opportunity to collect the info on such a large and powerful creature.

I wasn't looking forward to the mutations it would lead to though. Those would definitely be big.
