Chapter 28: You want...

The original plan was to mess with the Bat before breaking the Scythe Of Kronos and unleashing the so-called chaos. The goal of this was to stop Batman from snooping around and be less wary of Invincible. He would never allow Invincible in the young justice team if he was too dangerous. Marcus could control him with different abilities but as he's the God of Freedom, that goes against his principles.

When he fought Darkseid and started the Vought company, he was still just one but as he had multiple desires he decided to split himself into three. That also helped with the story he had made up. The God of Freedom taught his first student, Marcus the Marked, everything he could teach before leaving the mortal world. He grew bored after eons of living and decided to reincarnate himself into the past. He sent his reincarnated self to his first student to be guarded and also put some protections on his weaker self in case of emergency. That was the story Marcus was going to "reveal" after the whole mess was over. The reason he had divided it into three was that he wanted to spend time with Boa. After all, he loved her and a part of him wanted a quiet family life. Thus that part took the role of the God of Freedom, who would reside on Jaya and live with Boa. This was also one of the reasons why Boa had accepted Marcus having other women since she had one all for herself.

Marcus the Marked was made of the desire to have fun and accomplish his revenge though the former was more important to him. Invincible was made with the help of the skill "Evolution". He did not have access to Tia or the Gamer's abilities unless it was important at which he would gain all his memories. It meant that regularly, Invincible did not have Marcus' astronomical luck when dealing with non-omnipotent beings. He still had a little bit of charisma. Marcus planned to "punish" Invincible for a reason he would create later to give a reason as to why Invincible had become weaker. This would be enough for Batman to not look for any further reason/cause and would be safe to join a team with people of his age.

That was the plan before a suspicious cat helped Cat Woman with her hiest. Marcus had overlooked one thing. He was bored and wanted a surprise once in a while. His luck worked for his interest as well as people close to him. It didn't take long before he realized that Klarion was after the Scythe Of Kronos. This meant that the light wanted it or to be more precise Vandal wanted it. Was it to be free from his curse by bargaining with the help of a chaos lord? It could have just been Klarion wanting to unleash chaos. It was exciting to have a show, which he did not know the ending, to watch.

He decided to act as he had planned and see the result. If things got out of hand he would be fighting Klarion which did not sound bad for him. He had made sure that Klarion would not be able to harm Cat Woman while also being ignorant of the scythe's location. Thanks to the effect of the skill misunderstanding, Klarion thought it was the power of the scythe that was protecting its new owner.

Marcus sent Doflamingo, Moria, Crocodile, Akainu, and Borsalino after Selina but all of them came back empty-handed. It was clear that Klarion was protecting or to be precise keeping Selina out of everyone's reach until she revealed the location of the artifact. He started doing that after Selina met with Poison Ivy and was almost caught by Crocodile.

After a week of the pointless search, Marcus was getting tired of Bruce contacting him via Aokiji, asking where Selina was. He told Bruce that he still did not catch her yet and Bruce was relieved as he had kept monitoring everyone Marcus had sent for the hunt. The fact that Selina was unavailable, was probably due to her still hiding from the hunt. That was what he told himself to calm down.

Bruce received an alert that Marcus was in an uninhabited area of Metropolis and he was drawing patterns on the ground. He mobilized every League member he could as he saw that Doflamingo, Moria, Crocodile, and Akainu were with Marcus. When they arrived, Marcus had already finished and light enveloped the surroundings. When it died down everyone saw Selina Holding the Scythe Of Kronos and she was pointing it at a kid who had a funny haircut and a giant cat/tiger. Klarion had got tired of waiting and decided to attack Selina to which she defended herself by grabbing the scythe from where she was hiding it.

Marcus was about to interfere but he was kicked by Invincible out of nowhere and sent flying into a few buildings. This caught the attention of everyone but Klarion was the first to snap out of it and grabbed the scythe.

Klarion: Hm... I was told that this would bring chaos but it hasn't done anything yet.

Tickle: ~Miaw~

Klarion: I know. I know. I'm supposed to give it to him but I wanted to play with it first an-

As Klarion was talking, the scythe grew red and began to crack. The crack covered the whole scythe before it exploded in klarion's face. Red light shot into the sky and as it was happening the League members heard Doflamingo, Moria, Crocodile, and Akainu laughing.

Doflamingo: FUFUFUFU! We're free!

Moria: About damn time.

Crocodile: Finally! I don't have to work with you lot!

Akainu: Next time I see you all will be your last day.

They all went their separate ways. It was now that the league realized what was keeping them in check. All four of them were among the most morally questionable members of Vought. Sadly, they did not have time to process this as another bad news came.

???: MORTALS! I AM THE GOD OF FREEDOM BUT MOST OF YOU KNOW ME UNDER THE TITLE OF GOD OF HAKI OF WHICH I GRANT TO ANYONE THAT PASSES MY TRIAL!

As the League was hearing this, Marcus reappeared with Invincible who had a couple of bumps on his head.

Marcus: NO!NO! NO! DON'T YOU DARE DO IT!

Of course, Marcus was acting as if he was not looking forward to this but wanted to make it look like he was not on board with what was going to happen.

God Of Freedom: WEALTH, FAME, POWER! I, THE GOD OF HAKI/FREEDOM AND KING OF THE TITANS, ATTAINED EVERYTHING THIS WORLD HAS TO OFFER! IT IS TIME FOR ME TO OFFER SOMETHING IN RETURN! YOU WANT MY TREASURES, POWERS, FAME, YOU CAN HAVE IT I LEFT EVERYTHING I GATHERED TOGETHER IN ONE PLACE. NOW YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO FIND IT! ZEHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
