27 Chapter 27: Lucky Cat

The League was tensed as they heard the three-headed dog's growl. They could feel that Marcus' usual cheerful attitude was not present.

Batman: I have no idea where Cat Woman is.

Most members of the League could guess that Batman was probably lying. As they were thinking of what to do in the case a fight broke out, they saw a man wearing a navy-blue suit appearing behind the gigantic dog. It was Aokiji.

Aokiji: Ara~Ara~ This means we're gonna have to do some work. Boss, my horoscope for today said working would be bad for my health.

Everyone was shocked at how bad of a lie it was. They felt that he simply did not want to work for some reason. Marcus looked at Aokiji.

Marcus: If you do not want to work then you can babysit Invincible till this matter is over and make sure he doesn't tell more than he should.

Before Aokiji could answer, both Marcus and his dog were gone.

Aokiji: Looks like I'm on babysitting duty.

As they were cleaning the aftermath of the fight, reports came and wanted to get the full story. Bruce, Clark, Diana, Barry, Hal, Billy, Arthur, and Martian Manhunter brought Invincible to the watchtower. Aokiji came with them as Invincible said that he could not go without supervision until the matter was resolved. He had made a deal and it was his turn to follow through. Bruce tried to ask for more about the Scythe of Kronos from Invincible, but Aokiji was there to answer in his place. The answers were always vague and gave little information.

Aokiji: Look, I know you must be worried about your feline girlfriend but if she doesn't keep running and give the Scythe of Kronos everything should be good.

Bruce: You keep dodging the questions, what chaos would be unleashed?

Aokiji: I am in no obligation to tell you this.

Clark: We just want to help.

Aokiji: That might be true for you, Superman, but not for Batman considering he's the one that told Cat Woman to steal the Scythe of Kronos.

The silence was brought into the room, but it was shattered by Invincible.

Invincible: WHAT!!! YOU LIED!!!

Invincible was panicking, he was about to rush outside but was stopped by Aokiji.

Aokiji: It's too late, you already made the deal. They lied to you but the deal was that you would not interfere with the hunt if everyone told you that they had nothing to do with all this.

Aokiji looked at Bruce.

Aokiji: You must have investigated our side and know that we have many powerful individuals on our side. Let me guess you were planning on controlling Marcus' weakness with the Scythe of Kronos while Marcus would be controlling us with whatever you thought he was controlling us with.

Bruce remained silent but to the rest, it was an admission to what Aokiji had just said.

Aokiji: It is true that some of us have… questionable morals but do you want to know why we follow Marcus and why Invincible did not go throw a fit in front of Marcus?

Diana: Why?

Aokiji: It's because all of those that wanted to take over Marcus' company and use it for their own goals ended up in a full-body cast for months. Every time they tried, they ended up in the full-body cast they had just left.

They looked at Invincible as if asking for confirmation.

Invincible: It's true but I never lost though BAHAHA-

Aokiji: That's because you never fought him. I hope you did not tell them anything before we arrived especially the Green Lantern.

Martian Manhunter: It seems that Marcus does not trust the Green Lanterns as well. I would understand Invincible as he is a Viltrumite but what is the reason for Marcus?

Aokiji: Don't know but he told me to always be on guard against the Guardian of Oa.

As they were talking, Cat Woman had met the one man she should not have met, Akainu. They were facing each other in an alley in Gotham.

Akainu: Hm! I was told to give you a chance to surrender. Here is your chance! Surrender and go to prison or resist and…

He did not finish his sentence as Cat Woman threw her whip at him. It melted as it went through him. She was shocked and knew she could not win against him. The look he gave her meant that surrendering was out of the option now. Suddenly an orange cat with black stripes jumped at Akainu and managed to injure his face, it gave her enough time to flee to her safehouse. Akainu was confused as to how this was possible, by the time he came to his senses both were gone. He was furious and his right arm started to turn into magma.

Akainu: It's good that you attacked me and even managed to scratch me because now… YOU. ARE. FAIR. GAME!!!

He walked into the street trying to find her. He kept walking and looking for a few hours before realizing that he was going into a loop. No one was here and he had just come back to the spot where his magma had melted the ground.

Seline Kyle, A.K.A, Cat Woman had arrived at her safe house. She petted the orange cat.

Selina: Looks like you are my lucky cat. You found the Scythe of Kronos before me and you just helped me escape.

Cat: ~Miaw~

Selina: Oh! You're hungry! Wait for just a second, I'll bring you something to eat.

As she left the room, she did not notice that the cat's reflection had red eyelids. While she was preparing the food, she was wondering what to do. She had hidden the Scythe of Kronos as soon as she could. She remembered that after she had hidden it, she found her lucky cat was waiting for her at her house. Selina thought that the cat must have followed her scent.

Selina: Bruce better makes it up to me.

The night went by until she heard a knock. She carefully looked at who it was. Her surprise guest was none other than Harley Quinn. She was one of the Sirens along with her and Poison Ivy.

Harley: Hey! Kitty! We need to talk!

She let her in.

Selina: Where have you been?

Harley: Oh me? I've just got myself a new Boo and let me tell ya I upgraded to the max… In every department HEHEHEHE!

Selina noticed that Harley was different but could not tell what it was.

Harley: Anyway, I'm here to warn you that you stole something from my new Boo, and you should be careful. Bye~

Selina was alarmed as this meant that Harley's new man was Marcus, but she soon became confused.

Selina: Wait! You're not here to take back what I stole? I thought Marcus sent you to take it back.

Harley: Oh no! Honey finds it very important that I do what I want he even got mad when I tried to do things that I don't like, just because he told me to do it, without saying anything. I just came here to warn ya and tell ya that you should give it back as soon as you can.

Harley left. Selina was about to have a mental breakdown. Harley, her Harley was thinking for herself and went against her man's will. No matter how many times she and Ivy had tried, Harley always went back to The Joker, but Marcus had done something she had given up. Making Harley think independently. She had a small tear fall onto her cheek. She went and contacted Ivy to tell her the good news.
