Contract

You know, I begin to regret my decision to tell Sairaorg to train his body. When the anime said that he is a training maniac, I thought it was not literally. I never thought that I would be doing intense training every single day.

Even when his body is on the brink of dying, Sairaorg keeps training. If not for my mother making him unconscious, I think he would have lost a limb or two. After that incident, Sairaorg is given a strict limitation in his training, and of course, he always does his training until the limit.

While I'm good enough at physical fighting, Sairaorg is a beast in this type of fight. He is natural in hand-to-hand combat. His instinct is frightening. It is like fighting against someone that can see a couple of seconds into the future.

He can dodge my attack, and the only reason he cannot dodge my attack yet is that I'm faster.

Oh? Have I said that he is a prodigy in physical training? It's like his body is built for this kind of training. His body that previously couldn't take my punch now can take two or three fully powered punches from me before his body gives up.

Just like now. I look at Sairaorg, struggling to get up from my third punch. We already sparred for half an hour, and I decided to finish the spar by punching Sairaorg with full force. I must say that he has already grown once again. Not only did he spar with me for half an hour, but he also took two of my full force punches head-on before being defeated on the third punch.

"I think we should stop here, Sairaorg."

"N-no! I-I still can fight."

"Haaa… I know you can still fight Sairaorg but remember that your body needs to rest as well. We have been doing intense training for five hours. Don't make me call my mother."

After I said that, I could see Sairaorg's face become paler than before, nodding his head in defeat.

"Good. Hermione, can you heal him once again?"

"Of course, master."

Hermione walks toward Sairaorg and begins to heal him. Hermione and Medea became the healers of our training season for the past week, and they are one of the key reasons why both Sairaorg and I grow quickly.

The healing spell Medea and Hermione use is not your regular spell. It was their original creation. Other than healing any injury, this spell also makes our body adapt faster than usual, which means that we can grow more quickly as long as we train our body to the limit.

It did not make our body grow tremendously, but I can notice the difference. It is not huge, but it is there.

Except for me, because of my perks, my growth is faster than Sairaorg. While you cannot see it from the outside, I can feel my body grow stronger.

"Anyway, you are doing great, Sairaorg."

"No. I still cannot defeat you. I'm still far behind."

"If you can defeat me, then there is something wrong with me. I didn't mean to offend you, but I already started my training at the age of four. It is true that I only trained my demonic energy in that age, but it was still training nonetheless."

"... I guess you're right. I-I just want to make my mother proud."

"Huh? What are you talking about? Aunty Misla is already proud of you. The only thing you need to do now is not to destroy your body in training and make her sad. Training is good and all, but like my mother said, your body needs rest."

Misla Bael nee Vapula already visited Phenex Clan castle three days ago when Sairaorg got injured from his training. That day, I met the gentle Bael lady who asked me to watch over her son because she thought it was her fault that her son did not inherit the power of destruction.

While I cannot convince her that it was not her fault Sairaorg did not get the power of destruction, my mother can. Well, just only a little bit, though. She still blames herself for Sairaorg losing his title of Bael Heir.

"Master, I'm done."

I snap from my thoughts when I hear Hermione's voice. I nodded my head and smiled at her before saying.

"Good job, Hermione. Anyway, what will you do for today? Do you have a contract that needs to be finished?"

"I'm thinking of spending my time with my mother today as I have already fulfilled all the contracts I have, and I will hold them for now."

"Fair enough. Tell your mom and dad hai for me."

"Of course."

|3rd POV|

Riser waved his hand at the man in front of him. This is the first outside contract he has ever had since the time he got his Evil Piece. Riser's parents did not want him to make an outside contract because of his age, but after he begged for it as he wanted to know what a contract felt like, his father relented and let Riser do it.

His first contract is to accompany a pair of campers in the middle of the woods that are bored of their minds and want him to accompany them for a few hours. They thought that just because Riser bears the title of Phenex, he would have the sound of a phoenix, and they wanted him to sing for them.

Sadly for them, Riser did not have the voice of a phoenix. Lucky for them, Riser can sing. Not a top-tier singer, but he can sing well.

Seeing that he cannot entertain them, Riser decides to cook them some food. Let's just say that Riser got himself a loyal customer.

After three hours of cooking and having a pleasant night, Riser gets back to Japan from Texas just at the right time for him to prepare some lunch for his peerage before Shirou decides to take over the kitchen.

"Haaa. Home sweet home."

Because of his peerage origin, his father decided to buy some land in Japan for Riser. As per the treaty between Devil and the Youkai, a devil can only own land in Kuoh. They can only rent land outside Kuoh, and they need to rent it from the center officer in Kyoto.

Riser opened up the door to his home and immediately walked to the kitchen, where he was greeted with a new face. It was a woman around her mid-twenties. She has long grey hair tied into a ponytail and grey eyes that look at me curiously.

This woman is Cleria Belial, the current governor of Kuoh Town.

"Ah, it looks like we have a guest. I'm sorry to keep you waiting. I just finished my contract. Anyway, the name is Riser Phenex. Nice to meet you."

"My name is Cleria Belial, and you did not make me wait. I just arrived here around ten minutes, and I'm being treated as if I'm a princess. Your pawn's tea is to die for."

"Thank you."

Riser sits down on the chair as Shirou decides to serve another tea for him.

"Anyway, what can I do for you?"

"Ma~ This is just a formal meeting. I just got the news that you own the land in Kuoh. As a governor of this city, I must check the new residents."

"I own this area?"

"Yup. Your father decided to put your name as the owner. Anyway, other than an official visit, I also need to tell you about your obligation as a landowner in this town."

"Obligation?"

"Yes. Your obligation is to protect this city from an un-desire that tried their luck in this city. You can say that you are a hero of this city."

When Cleria Belial said hero, Shirou perked up at that. Since Shirou already fulfilled his dream to get himself a sheath, he wanted to fulfill his second dream. To become a hero. To help others.

"Hero? What? Like a comic book Hero?"

Riser said it jokingly, but to his surprise, Cleria beamed at him and said,

"Exactly! While you do not need to do it exactly like a hero in the comic book, you need to patrol like the hero."

"Ah, like the police but for a Moonlight event?"

"Yup. If you encounter something weird, I need you and your peerage to report back to me. I will then send someone to your location. You can try to take the matter yourself, but I want you to promise me to call first before getting into action. If you can do it alone? Good, but what if you cannot do that? You will have reinforcement at your back ready to help you."

"Understood."

"Good. That is all, I think. Your paperwork will be delivered tonight and need to be sent to me by the end of the week. I need to send them to Kyoto, after all. Anyway, it is nice to meet you, Riser Phenex."

"The same. Please come visit as much as you want."

"Hmmm~ If I get to eat these cookies and drink this tea again, then I will visit you soon."

Cleria gets up from her seat and bow a little at Riser, and says,

"Goodbye for now."

After saying that, Cleria walks toward the front door with Sakura showing the way. As Cleria walks away from the kitchen, Riser begins to think about his guest and makes a plan.

A plan that let Cleria stay alive.
