Monster Hierarchy (1)

...

A few minutes after separating from the "lions", Icarus finally arrives at his destination – Icarus Falls

Unlike what Icarus expected, although it is currently night, the lake is still a reasonably lit.

This is due to the reflection of the three great moons present in the sky, which reflect on the surface of the gigantic lake of blood.

The environment itself has not changed much since his other visits, just like the other times the place is full of monsters.

They are spread around the huge lake that stretches for a few kilometers, some monsters are drinking water, and others are bathing while some are just lying on the edge of the lake resting.

Some rioter's monsters, who decide to use the opportunity to attack others, occasionally break this peace.

However, soon after doing this, the monsters around them quickly treat these rioters and in a few seconds, the peace that was broken is resumed.

While watching the surroundings, Icarus watched a Rushed-Panther ruthlessly attack a blue monster with a tiger-like appearance, when the tiger was attacked, he was furious.

However, even before he had a chance to attack the Rushed-Panther back, a chaotic scene unfolded in front of him and the poor Rushed-Panther was surrounded by a group of more than ten monsters and in just seconds he had his body shattered.

Seeing this scene, Icarus felt a shiver run down his spine and at that moment, he swore to himself that he would never try to attack a monster in the vicinity of the lake.

After all, regardless of how low the monsters' level was, if they surrounded him and attacked him all at the same time, he wouldn't have much chances of surviving.

After making that promise, Icarus approached the lake and just like the other, every time a monster saw him it promptly moved away, making way for him.

"Huehue... I like this treatment! Huh? What is it?"

As he walks to the shore of the lake, Icarus realizes that many monsters do not move away when he approaches, instead, they just look at him with interest for a second, but soon ignore him and continue to do their own thing

"Interesting..."

Seeing this, Icarus is a little puzzled, but after doing some experiments, he realizes what is going on.

The monsters that move away from Icarus are all weak monsters and with a lower level than his.

However, this is not the case of the monsters that ignore him, unlike the others, each and every one of them has at least the same level as his, having strength similar to yours.

Besides that, many of them messed with Monnct's instincts and aroused an almost uncontrollable urge to fight in Icarus, which means they are much stronger than he is.

"Oh, I see. So the monsters with the same level as mine don't bother to get out of my way. Because as they have strengths similar to mine, they don't feel forced to move just because of me.

As for monsters with a higher level than mine, they don't even waste their time looking at me. Well, I have no right to complain. Instead, I should be thankful that this unspoken law of not attacking each other around the lake also applies to me. Otherwise, I'm afraid that I wouldn't even have time to get away from the lake, before suffering the same fate as that Rushed-Panther!"

Looking at the lake as a whole, it is full of monsters of the most different types; Icarus saw several monsters with bodies similar to the animals of his old life.

Among them were monsters with a physiognomy similar to that of lions, bears, bulls, jackals, snakes, vultures and many other animals.

There were also many monsters with insect characteristics, like a red monster with more than sixteen wingspans, which looked a lot like a dragonfly.

However, it was not these monsters, that catch the attention of Icarus, but some humanoid monsters he saw.

Looking at their appearance, they fit almost perfectly in the description of some famous mythological monsters, such as ogres, cyclops, chimeras, and orcs.

Realizing this wide range of monsters, he had never noticed.

Icarus is slightly stunned, and then a thought crosses his head

"Wait a minute... If there are so many different types of monsters. Why the hell do I keep finding only those suckers of the Rushed-Panther's? Elizabeth, this is not related to my luck, is it? Is it?"

[...]

"Come on... Why the hell does luck seem to be more important in this world than it was in my old world?"

While he is busy cursing his luck again, Icarus continues to observe the behavior and variety of monsters that existed around Icarus Falls.

After using Monnct's instincts to observe the place for a while longer, Icarus is faced with a rather intriguing discovery – the lake is divided into some sections, where the position of the monsters around the lake is determined only by their strength.

More specifically, the lake is divided into five different sections; each section is composed only of monsters with certain levels and strength.

The fifth section is in the farthest corner of the lake, being the section in furthest from the waterfalls; this section is the most populous.

Looking over, Icarus estimates that there are at least a hundred thousand monsters in this section.

However, despite being the section with the most monsters, it is the weakest section of the five, being composed only of low-level monsters.

It is worth noting that Icarus is currently in the region furthest from this section, that is, he is one of the weakest in the weakest section and is at the bottom of the food chain.

The fourth section, is located between the tip and the middle of the lake, despite being less populous than the fifth section, it still has a gigantic population of more than ten thousand monsters.

The monsters in this section are bigger and look more brutal than the monsters in the fifth section; looking at them, Icarus is sure that any one of them can kill him instantly.

Author's note: I'm speechless, I swore that from that chapter, the story would be a Premium one!

Well, as we all can see... I was clearly wrong!

You know, since I posted the last chapter, I had a plan in mind.

That plan consisted on: Don't post any new chapters, until my contract is approved and I finally manage to monetize my story. A very simple and easy plan, at least that was what I thought, because one day, someone answered my review (My self-promotion)

When I saw the notification, I thought 'Ohh... It must be someone praising me for being very handsome, intelligent and humble person!'

However, to my surprise, it wasn't that! No, it wasn't someone praising me (which I must say is a very rare thing), instead of that, it was actually someone complaining that I drop the story and that she hates it when the authors do that!

Okay, I understand and agree with that thought, as I also hate it when the author drops a story that I'm reading! Even so, I'm still pissed! After all, it is too audacious for someone to come and say to me to stop procrastinating and start writing again!

Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Come on, nobody can force me to work when I don't want to! (except my mother, she doesn't count!)

Anyway, this was me throwing a tantrum about the situation!

Oh, and in case you're curious as to why I am posting today... It's happened that I wanted to post today! And it's not like I'm posting just because I care about your guys opinion or anything, okay? Baka!

First chapter of the day! I'll post the second one later!

...

That's all, folks!

Thanks for reading!

Have a great day!
