Some introduction

Hi there dear readers!

This is my new work to join the WPC #229 on female leads as substitutes. That writing prompt made me ask, what sort of substitute job is the most daunting in this world? Reaping souls of course. And so, this book was born.

Here is a rundown of some background and the characters:

1. Zarin city

I decide to set this story in a modern world city much like any large metropolitan city like New York or Tokyo or Seoul or whatever, you get the gist, and name it Zarin. I just don't want to associate it with any country or any ethnicities so characters can be fluid ethnicity, much like all manga characters. Better still, imagine this story as a manga as you read it. *hint hint WN editors, please turn this into a manga*

2. Valeria Maeve Aurelaire Brinstrone

She is 40 years old, barren, married to rich tycoon, Mark Brinstrone and mistreated by her mother-in-law (whom she calls the monster-in-law) and her two sisters-in-law who are twins and 10 years younger. She is tall (5 foot 9), voluptuous, plus sized, a brunette, dazzling blue eyes and tanned complexion with rosy cheeks.

3. Mark Brinstrone, 43 years old

Valeria's rich tycoon husband who is obviously having an affair and doesn't love Valeria anymore. He is tall (6 foot 2), toned, handsome, green eyes, blonde hair. CEO of Brinstrone Holdings, a successful game development company.

4. Erin Brinstrone, 65 years old

She is the monster-in-law. She hated Valeria and wanted Mark to divorce her so that he could marry someone she thinks is more fitting for her son. So, she finds every other reason to torture Valeria and hope that she will leave on her own.

5. Nesquai and Neshi Brinstrone, both 30 years old

They are twins and spoilt by both their mother and elder brother. They didn't like Valeria either and are always looking for ways to sabotage her. They don't work and live off their generous brother.

6. Ari

Ageless. The reaper that Valeria stabbed and had to be his substitute to reap souls on his behalf. He has silvery grey eyes, with specks of gold, blue and green, and he has sharp cheekbones, strong jawline and an aquiline nose. In short, so handsome you just want to stare at him and die. Also tall (6 foot 3) with thick black hair.

7. A

Yes, her name is just the alphabet. She is Ari's supervisor, red hair, golden eyes with a no-nonsense attitude. She is the same height as Ari.
