5 The council.

Year 101AC

After the little incident with the princess, I got time to get to know Leana and Leanor. I had a fun time interacting with them considering the way it began, we had a fun time goofing around and even though they were still children I could see their future personalities starting to take form in their little heads.

Leanor was like any decent older brother, he was supportive and agreeable to leana, I got that much when he didn't argue with the story she had told me of how we lived in a giants eye who's name was Mucumber.

This had me laughing heartily because, at the same time, a voice echoed in my mind of a young wolf recounting the very same story to his younger brother.

After a while of just talking nonsense and being laughed at by both of the siblings of the kick I had received from the princess, a knock came from the door before it was opened.

"Durin" I heard the familiar voice of my lovely sister.

Looking to her, she had her usual smile on, I didn't see her leaving the carriage earlier. I assumed she had gone with father and brother, but I doubt it, knowing brother he was either trying to woo some unfortunate lady or just over all making a fool of himself.

Behind my sister was a household guard, who I unfortunately did not recognise.

'Maybe that's something I should start working on, getting to know my household?'

I was nudged on the side by leanor who at 7 namedays stood a little taller then me, but considering the fact that I was only 3 and a half years old it should have been more.

'Thank the Baratheon blood'

My sister looked between me Leanor and little Laena, I could see from the way her nose twitched that she recognised them.

"Mother told me you would be here but she didn't say you would be with company" my sweet sister said taking a knee infront of Laena.

"I don't think we've met yet, my name is Jocelyn I'm Durin's older sister" she said to Leana giving her a kind smile.

Leana had a shy smile on her face, contrast to her fiery personality."It's nice t..to meet you I'm Laena" she said.

My sister whose smile grew a bit wider looked at Leanor who also introduced himself.

I stepped forward a bit and my sisters gaze shifted towards me" Mother asked me to fetch you, you must be hungry" My sister said Reminding me of how hungry I was, it's funny how you can forget simple things while having fun.

"You don't mind if I take during with me do you Leana" my sister asked lean still crouching to her eye level.

Leana only shook her head a litle. Jocelyn stood up before she made a motion for me to follow and I did. Before leaving the room I gave both of the sibling who looked a bit sad a wave and left through the door and followed my sister who took my hand in hers.

"Did you have a good time" she asked looking at me curiously.

"I did, surprisingly" I said saying the second half of the sentence a bit quieter.

I felt a gaze on the side of my head knowing it was my sister I looked back at her.

"What.." I asked a bit weirded out.

She shook her a head. "It's...nothing, it's just sometimes you seem older than your age, so seeing you having fun with children your age makes me glad" she says, looking at me like a proud parent would their child.

"Don't get used to it" I say, with a little humor in my voice.

(A litle later)

After my sister guided me to our assigned chambers, I enjoyed a modest meal consisting mainly of bread and cheese, and a litle bit of berries.

After that we had a peacfull afternoon were I tried to distract myself from the burning curiosity of what my parents and the other lords and ladies were planning, but it was short lived because my three years old body needs as much sleep as it could get. And so before I knew it I passed out of exhaustion.

Year 101AC, The great council.

Some say the origins of the dance began with the birth of Aegon the Second, while others attribute it to King Viserys naming Alicent Hightower as his queen. However, I knew better. George R.R. Martin himself had said, one of the biggest reasons for the dance of the dragon was the king Viserys being chosen in the great council of 101, because as we've seen time and time again a week king always makes the realm bleed.

The great council began from sunrise and from there came all the would be Clements of the iron throne. Many presented their case but a handful was given a thought. By the end only two people stood at the top of the list Viserys and Rhaenys, my cousin.

While all of this was happening, my family stood at the front of the crowd. Both my mother and father appeared nervous, yet their faces remained as calm as stone on the surface. My brother, who stood next to me, initially seemed reluctant, but he eventually came around to support Rhaenys after my father had convinced him.

There sitting in a large golden ornate throne was the old king Jeaherys of house Targaryen the conciliator, next to him ser Ryan Redwine, the lord commander of the kings guard and ser Harrold Westerling. On his right stood princess Rhaenys and Her husband Corlys Velaryon and on his left the future king, Viserys and the pregnant Emma Targaryen(nee Arryn).

The tension was so palpable that It could be cut with a knife and it seemed almost unreal how everyone was quiet, but after the door of the hall was opened and the Maesters came in carrying the outcome of the vote, a dam broke and there were whispers, speculations and most of all fear in the hall.

When the measters presented the chest to the king, they opened it carefully and infront of all the eyes of the council, one of the maesters who looked suspiciously like the king handed a small sealed parchment to king Jeaherys and stood at his side.

'That's Maester Vaegon' I though.

I looked on ahead almost hearing the opening speech Rhaenyra gave in the Tv series, and hearing one of the many music I composed playing in the background.

"It is declared by all lord paramounts, and lord vassals" started the king with a raised voice wich instantly made the entirety of the hall quiet down.

My mother and father held each other tightly, my sister who stood next to Borros clasped her hands together and my dunce of a brother looked on with a pensive face.

I knew how this council would end...no I knew how this century would end, Targaryen fighting Targaryen with fire and blood...but.

I looked at my family again.

"This time it will be different" I said

"What was that, Durin" my mother said looking at me with clear worry."Nothing mother" as my attention went back to the king who proceeded to open the parchment.

"That prince Viserys Targaryen would be made prince of dragon stone" As the king uttered those words all over the hall applause and cheers came, from majority of lords and ladies.

My own family who were clearly bitter about the fact, also clapped, and my brother clapped the loudest.

And so it begins, the cogs of the wheel have started turning and in no time the wheel of endless suffering will start to turn as well.

It was Daenerys who said she would break the wheel, but that's where she was wrong, you don't break something you don't want to be apart of, you deny it's existence and create a new wheal.

And that's what I'm going to do, because as much as fire and blood has rained fury has prospered.
