2 Chapter 2

The following morning..

"Going out for a walk off leash today?" One of the demons that served under Prince Clyde asked as they caught sight of Gunner walking by with the leash he sometimes would wear not hooked to Gunner's collar.

"You know it!" Gunner proudly smirked in their direction as he continued to stride for the exit of the large mansion they were all staying in. No matter what others would tease him about when it came to his choice in clothing there was never any sign of it bothering him. He was proud of who he was no matter what others tried to say otherwise.

"Gunner, hold up." Prince Clyde's voice called out from behind just as he was about to open the door to leave.

"Demon Prince Clyde?" Gunner smiled as he could hear the faint sign of what he was certain was worry in the man's voice when he called out to him. Turning his head to glance at the expression on the man's face it was obvious that he wanted to say something further but kept it to himself.

"You're going back into the city today?" Clyde asked while shifting his gaze onto the hand of Gunner's that was holding onto the door handle. Narrowing his eyes he contemplated on a few things but considered the thought that Gunner leaving today might be for the best til his guest arrived and left.

"Yes. I thought I'd get some exercise," Gunner's hand let go of the handle of the door and in turn grasped firmly onto Prince Clyde's white under shirt to pull his face closer. His hot breath seeped out from his muzzle onto the man's ear. "since master Clyde wouldn't help aid me in that himself last night."

Demon Prince Clyde's face heated up with a faint blush as he quickly pushed Gunner away. His ear was still burning from the heat of the man's breath bringing him to rub his hand against the side of his face to try and think of something else.

"Be serious. You know the streets of the city right now are not something to joke about. When you go out there today be careful and hopefully when you return Apollo will no longer be here. He is suppose to show up this morning for our meeting." Clyde's voice was scolding and full of frustration for everything going on in front of him today. There was not a single part of him that really wanted to invite Apollo over and if it was not for the fact the man would be useful to the city he'd be more apt to ban him from even entering the city.

"Apollo again, eh?" Gunner muttered under his breath as he turned his head back onto the door. He was not sure why Clyde was so worried about that man getting near him but when it came down to it the whole situation made him feel annoyed.

"What's that suppose to mean?" Clyde's narrowed eyes stared deeply at Gunner as he tried to understand if he had done something to upset the man.

"It's nothing. Are you imagining things? I have to go now." Gunner quickly spoke as he flung the door open. Stepping out into the bright light of the day his entire upper body that was exposed from under the straps that tightly wrapped around his abs was illuminated. The spiked teal hair of his blew gently in the warm breeze. Pausing for a moment on the steps of the mansion to glance around he waited a few seconds to see if Prince Clyde would chase after him to find out what was really on his mind but the man never did.

Clueless bastard. He thought to himself before resuming his steps down the path from the mansion doors. Among the view of the city he could see fresh smoke in many different directions from demon beasts attempting to hunt down survivors. It was not a new thing for him to see because he saw the same thing every time he went out for a walk in the city but it was still something that he liked to pay attention to in case there were still lingering beasts in those directions.

Picking up his steps a bit he was soon walking along the streets of the city with his head held high. His red eyes scanning his surroundings carefully as he kept himself on alert for anything that might try to sneak up on him. After a while of walking he could hear a sudden rustle coming from a pile of trash that was the size of a school bus beside an old burnt down building. It could no longer be known what the building had once been before the destruction of the city. Preparing to fight off or flee from whatever was rustling through the trash pile he kept his eyes focused.

Nggghhhh!

Trash was thrown everywhere as a large pair of white wings beat against the air causing a whirlwind of trash to fly around til they stopped. Startled the wild Pegasus beat it's hoof against the cement ground as it took a few cautious steps away from where it had been sleeping.

"Whoa! I'm just passing by, alright?" Gunner tossed his hands up in the air as a sign of surrender to the wild beast as it stared him down with it's bright blue eyes. It's white fur was filthy from surviving among the destroyed city but it was obvious the beast was a beautiful white when properly cleaned up. From it's reaction he was certain the beast had been hiding from other beasts, probably the hell hounds.

Dropping it's focus on Gunner to escape from where it had been resting the Pegasus turned and galloped off into the streets. Sounds of hooves against the cement could be heard as it left. It's long white hair blowing in the wind of the city mixed with the speed it galloped made the beast look picture perfect as Gunner watched the scene in front of him. It was not the first time he had come across a beast such as the Pegasus because they were once used by the higher ups who guarded the boundary of the city from the surrounding forests. After the fall of the city tyrant during the war, however, many of them flew off for their chance at freedom while a few rarities had chosen to continue their survival among the ruins of what was left of Abaron.
