Chapter 43: Countdown till Townmageddon.

Let say that after getting the raw material, Horizon Dawn Dragon killing workshop went to work right away. We all try to pull our weight. Not claiming any credit but I had to say I pull so much weight I lost consciousness. Here is how it went down...the story was not for the faint of heart.

...

Day 2

6:00 am

It started at the break of Dawn when Rem summoned an image of a forge which laid on top of Ebony workshop. The workshop turned gold with the pink aura shining over the surface of of every metal tool and wood.

"What is this?" Ebony looked at the boy incredulously.

"Forge of the Fairies," Rem looked at Ebony and sat down. Color draining down from his face at an alarming rate. "The fire in here was used to create weapon for a certain. I manage to manifest it at full power but on the condition that I couldn't even move during it activation. In fact, Cy please supplied me with some energy I don't think I would last six hour without a help."

Rem turned toward Melodina

"And meanwhile, you remember that schematic right? Scathach please help her assemble it."

Both mother and daughter set to work. Ebony grabbed the one of the blueprint designed by Scathach's. The shape and size of the blade was completely gear toward Luxina's hight and weight. With a control breathing, the succubus began to hammer the ore to shape. The magic of the forge seeped into the ore enchanting its creation with Fairies sacred energy . On the other side of the forge Melodina began shaping the bar of Iron into a wanted shape.

Meanwhile, Cytortia was nursing the increasing exhausted Rem on her lap. As for the elf she was task with surveying the movement of high profile target around the town. Apparently she was the only one in the group who didn't bumble through Scathach's tailing lecture.

...

9:00 am

With methodical precision, Melodina struck the steel on final time before dipping the final piece of her creation into a barrel of oil for quenching. Inspecting it and nodding in satisfaction, she place the blade inside the oven for heat treatment.

"Incredible, at this point I think we will finish the bomb in no time," Melodina said pulling out another schematic. "Are you sure this thing will work?"

"I already talk some theory with Scathach yesterday. And we already brought that particular material." Rem said resting on a pillow in a barely conscious state "Please hurry up this is killing me...oww. I think I am going to puke"

"Hang in there," Cy said meticulously throwing a perfectly cubic pieces of chopped herb into one cauldron, slammed the lid shut and started the timer. Without looking at what she is doing, the Alchemist goddess light a match of fire and lit another tub containing few exotic stone, colorful herb, a pieces of paper on fire. The flame turn red then blue. Cy counted to three before throwing the mixture of grounded magic and gem and coal into the flame and left its to burn.

"Lux I need the rejuvenation medicine I prepare," Cytortia yelled

"I know!" Lux, still dress in her disguise, hurried into the room with a bucket. "Do I need to get anything else?"

"Oxygen tank!" Scathach checked Rem's pulse with a trace of concern. "His blood pressure is dropping fast? Hang in there kid!"

Melodina stared and pretended that there weas no one dying in the room. She started to instantly pity those guys.

...

11:38 am

It took Melody five and a half hours to forge the blade. It was an arduous task requiring magic and temperature that must be expertly measure and control. the group had gone all out for this creation. Luxina and Rem even climbed on to the roof of the house to drill a hole for the sunlight to shine through the roof and into the forge. Scathach ran Luxina through several test drill to create the best blade possible. And finally Ebony herself used every last trace of skill she could muster to perfected the sword in several span of an hours with no rest or break.

to be told, if not for Melodina's sake she would never go this far.

"Guys prepare the slime...never think I will say anything like that." Ebony huffed more tired than she had been in years.

Lux nodded, and Melodina helped dragged the barrel of dissolved lightning slime toward the succubus. With one nod and clenched teeth she slashed her palm open with a sterile knife. Yes sterile knife in blood letting is a must. Infection could slay the mightiest of warriors and the purest of soul.

A drop of her blood rippled through the volume of the barrel of lightning slime solution which quickly dyed the liquid bright red. Without any hesitation Ebony, dip the glowing hot metal into the red liquid.

Meanwhile, Scathach looked with fascination with fire extinguisher in her hand.

The wooden barrel burst into flame.

A beat...and then the fact hit.

"S****!!!!!!!" Ebony cursed but her through her training she still kept her grip on the tong.

"Fire!" Lux yelled, nearly causing Melodina to drop her part of the tong but she quickly re-tightened her grip. "The sword is on fire!"

Scathach opened fire.

Across the room, Cy ignored all of the with the power of noise cancelling head phone. In her hand is a solution of three different fluid, layered on like onion with the miracle chemistry hydrophillic properties and emulsifier. Cytortia gave a maniacal grinned as she poor the black paste that sank past one layer and congregate on the send one turning that second layer black. She dropped in the Catalyst and the curing agent and set the second timer next to the bubbling pot for her handiwork.

As for our invincible hero, he was flopping on the floor powerlessly as his entire energy reserve drain away.

Before the situation was drag back under control the barrel exploded in burst of shattered wood and red liquid knocking everyone back and dousing one prone man completely red.

A blade floated in the air gleaming with power.

And that was the moment CY notice that particular snaffu.

"That is a great blade," She nodded ignoring the mystified faces.

...

13:00 AM

Another Northwest section of the town was a single block of facility. It was grey and generically design with limited window except for the topmost balcony that was endorsed with a red stain glass windows.

Inside the room, Tyrell Darius was searching through his paperwork and shouting down the phone. He didn't know how it happen but ever since this morning the attitude of the town and the situation he had been dealing with seemed to shift unfavorably something was moving in the distance.

This morning was a nightmare. He already received several dozen of phone call. The shopkeepers that was signing up to partner with Emma Enterprise suddenly seemed to develop a second thought. Some of those shop keepers was asking for reassurance, some asking to nullify the contract and make a new one. Half of those, all of them the indecisiveness party, phoned in to officially decline the offer.

It was somehow while he was sleeping, the entire town suddenly grew a conscience and charity spirit boost on steriod. And given that he had been answering the phone since 7 am. Whatever phenomenon was happening is infectious.

RING! RING! RING!

He groaned. Not another phone. Please let that not be another cancellation.

"Excuse me," Tyrell said into his phone in a control voice. "Another call just enter please hold the line for the moment. Wait! What you are quitting! Are you serious! Okay...okay, thank you for supplying us all this time. I understand the contract won't be renewed...thank you very much."

Tyrell slammed his phone and picked up another one.

"What up boss?" Tyrell grimaced, having to deal with this spoil bastard in the morning. "What!? Pardon me but can you repeat that!"

Tyrell listened in disbelief for a solid hour.

"Yes, I will arrange the meeting with the mayor..." Tyrell said in a haunted voice. He looked seriously scare. "I am sure it going to work out."

He gently put his phone and contemplate leaping out of the window.

The door in front of his office burst open and dishevel Illma walked through the door. Pelt in several eggshell and crumbs of moldy bread. She barely believed what she had just experience.

"What happen to you?" Tyrell said terrified. Who the hell managed to humiliate one of the most powerful mage in the Frontier Town.

"A stupid kid got in front of me and I kicked him in the face," Illma said still in disbelief.

"A kid did this to you?" Tyrell said aghast. "Did a kid become A-Rank now?"

"No you idiot!" Illma yelled pulling out her hair. "It the entire street! They gang up on me!"

"Wait, you can just blast them can't you."

"Oh blast them? yes I can," Illma ranted, kicking the wall in frustration. "But it is not 5-6 six wannabe heros. It the entire street! I never seen anything like this. Every f******* person drop whatever the hell they are doing and pelt me with whatever they had on hand. It was like a lynch mob got steroid with justice for the kid."

"Blast them then!"

"They are filming me you idiot," Illma clasped her face in hesitation. "And who the heck could remain calm against crowd of angry shopkeepers led by buff manly woman?!! Not the mention the adventurers and mercenaries suddenly developing a heart of gold and decide to help chase me off?!!"

"You can beat them."

"Yes I can!" Illma screamed. "5 or 10 at a times not a 200 hundred suicidal hoard equipped with a video camera and pitch fork. What do you think would happen to me when the headquarter caught wind that their best employee was filmed commit a mass-murder on the f****** internet?"

"Oh good thing you ran then," Tyrell said with understanding. "Wonder when did they..."

RING RING! RING!

He picked up the phone. He listened and his face sagged in disbelief.

"Yes boss," Tyrell said. "I suspect she will love pink."

He put the phone down and starred into oblivion.

"What is that old bastard up to now?" Illma said smiling at the thought of that family carnage. "Did he phone in to find the new boarding school he should shove his daughter into? I pity that kid... her dad was so busily counting money that he couldn't pay attention to his little delinquent."

Illma picked up a wine glass in the corner of the room and started pouring herself some champagne.

"He just ask me what type of flower he should brought home to his wife," Tyrell said shivering. "And he said that he just arrange a diner with his family this Friday... that ignorant bastard insisted that his kid deserve the break after all the pressure they are receiving..."

Illma dropped a champagne which broke into million of piece, completely ruining the red carpet in stunned silence.

"What type air-borne disease is this?" Illma said. "When did the epidemic started? Did everyone in the town got convert into some kind of naive idealist?"

"Our creditor and partners were abandoning us like wood works," Tyrell soaked back a sob. "I can't take this anymore. This morning I already had to talk to hundred of managers and contractors that was notifying us that the contract won't be renew. Nearly all of our lucrative deal that was about to get signed was shot down and the remaining just suggested another revision of the contract. Several of our hire thugs just develop some kind of guilt complex and confessed to the guard."

"Good luck we can bribe them." Illma giggled. "Those guys are stupid. Do you know how corrupt the..."

"Not possible," Tyrell cried. "The chief warden and the rest of our friends in high place just got busted. Some of them tries to run but the underworld organisation we nearly wiped out show up and nail them to the building."

"What about the court?"

"A senior prosecutor turned himself in at 8 am and listed nearly every court official this morning. The remaining prosecutor who was originally turn a blind eyes to us suddenly stood up proud and take the case. The head judge just phone me as 9 am an threaten me and saying that this is the moment he had been waiting for since he was ten so I could pile all the money in the world at his feet but it won't do a thing to deter him."

"Then threatened his family then!!!" Illma said. "Hold his wife hostage! Send his kid ears to him!"

"The entire family was behind him," Tyrell bang his head on the table. "They barricade the house and called the guild for protection."

"Interrupt the request!" Illma yelled. "Sent a guard after them. Hire all the adventurer on the town and cut the responses supply."

"Our boss gave the judge his support," Tyrell said completely defeated. "He said that the venture into Frontier Town suppose to be a source of investment where everyone win. He insisted that installing a reliable and functional law enforcement would act as good will toward the people which would allow us easier access and maintenance of future asset. He is making that announcement iin the courtroom right now."

Illma screamed and batted away Tyrell's pot of plant smashing it in the wall. Looking at that smashed pot and the dying beautiful Lightwell Shrubbery, Illma recalled her childhood. Her training was hard and tough without friend to talk to or trust. Looking at that dying life and the hand that committed the deed, she said...

"I am sorry," Illma said with a brief hint of remorse. "I shouldn't..."

She froze.

Did she just feel sorry? Did she just apologize to those beneath her?

'So misguide...a pity indeed'

At that moment Illma Xoldia Road lost her mind.

"Accelerate the installation of the Spell Blaster!" She ordered and hurriedly marching out of the room. "I need this dragon kill as soon as possible! Why the heck did this town had to exist in the first place!"

The walked out of the door and slamed the ornate wooden door hard enough to break in hinged.

Tyrell groaned.

Is it too late to change his sponsor now?

...

12:00

Back in the ruin workshop, Cytortia's timer rang.

The wood goddess lifted the lid off the steaming pot of elixir with motherly care. This mixture of 15 types of herbs and boil Meteor Mushroom juice the was pressure cooked for three hours was boiling nicely.

She cringed and dropped a transparent white mana gem into the soup. The soup bubbled upon contact with the magic gem. Cytortia was ready. Through unbelievable speed she hooked the cauldron into a condenser and distill the gas the was produce into its pure liquid form. Slowly but surely the liquid began to drop into a small veil.

She sighed. They finally reached the final phase of their project. And the pressure was steadily mounting.

Rem and Melodina had locked themselves in the room. She didn't know what they are planning to go with all those Tungsten and Obsidian butRem said it was the silver bullet.

Behind her Ebony, finally wrapped the freshly sharpened blade in leather gripped and handed it to Lux.

Lux accepted her sword, [Historia], with the look of awe in her eyes. Sparks crackled across the blades as her mana brushed against it.

"Excuse me, " Luxinna ran up the room with her sword for reason alien to her.

Meanwhile, Scathach was assembling on another Dragon killing ace Rem and Melodina drafted. The part was made by Melodina and resembled a massive harpoon magically links with special magical item design to hold several month worth of water. That thing cost them at least 20 million. Luckily, they had billion to spend.

Cy smiled. Is this a feeling of being rich. Maybe she would make it rain in a bar next.

Scathach enchanted the harpoon and directly connected it the magical item which resembling a canteen. The special rune enchanted on the weapon would cause a subconscious triggered of the new skill to devise by her and Rem.

Knowing what it would do Cy smiled in satisfaction. They will make a killing if this went well

She tore herself away from her daydreaming of the pile of money she would be swimming to noticed the vail was full of glowing white liquid.

Cytortia smiled happily as she placed the vail inside the triangular mechanism made by Scathach on the very day Rem announced his plan.

Those money grubber should not pick a battle of preparation with A-Rank Alchemist.

...

18:00

Inside the Emma Enterprise, the seismograph quake marginally. Then another peak occurs.

A terrify technician looked at the reading in horror and went to find his nearest superior who happened to be downing his sorrow due to excessive longing for his ailing mother.

Down beneath the ravaged Earth, a massive dragon began to stir.

19:30

On the roof of the certain building, a badger stealthily landed without anyone noticing and set a triangular contraption which is holding a vial of white liquid on the roof.

The badger looked at the canon installation next to her and grimaced. Illma Xoldia Road was really a good motivator, the blaster is 65% ready and it was just two days. That unfeeling maniac must be pushing the engineers to the brink of death.

Scathach placed several runes to hide her contraption from the plain sight and warded it against magic.

She felt sorry for the technician...it would really suck to be them once this is over.
