2 Chapter 2: The Jasmine Dragon

I ran out of the tea shop and saw Zuko chasing after me.

GO AWAY ZUKO LEAVE US ALONE

Zuko: NO PLEASE YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND

I ran as fast as I could but he was fast.

In the distance I spotted a fountain and said to myself:  Fine he wants to chase me, than I'll let him chase me. I can't use my water now but the fountain should be enough.

FINE YOU WANT TO GET ME, THAN COME GET ME

Zuko: NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND I DON'T WANT TO HURT YOU

I ran as fast as I could towards the fountain.

I jumped over the steps and stood behind the fountain whilst bending a waterwhip.

Zuko stood in front of the fountain his hands against his sides.

I am warning you Zuko, stay away from me or I'll make you stay away!

Zuko: Stop, please you have to understand, I don't want to hurt you.

I looked at Zuko and saw his sad smile, he looked sincere..but he is the enemy..

How am I supposed to believe you after everything you've done! You chased Aang, you fought me at the Northern Tribe! Do you know how awful you are, the avatar is here to help us and the bring peace to the world and you try to kill him!

Zuko sat down on his knees in front of the fountain and said:"You're right."

I was in shock..did he..what did he just say..

I am what?

Zuko: "You are right, I did horrible things..and I can't take them back..but you have to trust me I'm different now."

I looked at him kneeling in front of me..

Changing your hair doesn't mean that you are different Zuko!, is what I yelled at him.

You can't possibly think that I believe you after everything you've done!

Zuko: I understand that you hate me, you have every right to it.. I've done horrible things. I thought that in order to get honor I had to capture Aang, but I realize it's something only I can give myself.

I listened to him and saw the grieve in his eyes, maybe he did change..

I mean he could've attacked me already if he wanted to.

Zuko looked up at me and said thank you.

Don't thank me, I never said I trust you.

Zuko gave a sad smile and said: "You stepped away from behind the fountain and that says enough for me"

I.. what...

I turned my head and saw that I did step away from behind the fountain.. I was a few steps away from Zuko now...

I..didn't realise..

Zuko smiled seeing my reaction.

Zuko: Thank you..Katara.

I..

He said Katara..this was the first time I heard him say my name I never heard him say my name before.

You know my name..?

Zuko smiled and said: "Yes I do Katara and I am sorry for everything I've put you through. I see now that I was wrong for doing so."

I was startled, I never knew Zuko knew my name..and why did he never used it? Wait why do I care..snap out of it Katara.

How do you know my name..?

Zuko looked at me and smiled he said:" I'll tell you everything you want to know if you release your waterwhip."

Nice try, fire boy I'll let my guard down and you'll attack me.

I don't think so.

Zuko looked confused.

Zuko:"Fireboy..?, Please I won't hurt you I promise, we can even go back to my Uncle's tea shop."

Your Uncle is the gifted tea man, I heard about?

Zuko: "I guess so..he is the one that makes the tea..."

I laughed a bit and Zuko noticed.

Zuko: "Why are you..laughing?"

I can't believe that all this time I thought you were so confident and full of yourself but now you're awkwardly telling me a story about your uncle and telling me you're sorry.

I always associated your face with the enemy but..

Zuko looked sad down and placed his hand on his scar whilst saying: "Oh I See.."

Did..I hurt him.., I thought to myself...I shouldn't have said that.. I think he is being genuine.

I didn't mean it like that..

Zuko said with a sad smile whilst lingering his hand on his scar:"It is a part of me I guess"

I sighed and said: You know what I'll go with you to the tea shop but if you try anything I'll make you regret it.

Zuko smiled whilst bowing and said:" Thank You..Katara"

I gasped..He said my name again..I felt a blush coming up and quickly snapped out of my thoughts.

You're welcome Zuko..

Zuko stood up and I stepped away from the fountain.

Zuko looked around and asked:" Did..Din't you..have a lemur with you..?

I looked at Zuko and said: You mean Momo yes I did he is in the tree, he was waiting to ambush you in case it was neccesary.

Zuko looked shocked and said:"Ambush me..?"

Don't worry Zuko you said it yourself you changed and you don't want to hurt me.

I'll call Momo.

Momo, you can come back again he won't hurt us and if he tries he dies!

Zuko raised his eyebrow and I looked at him whilst saying: I said what I said.

Momo flew down from the tree with berries in his hand to eat and landed on my shoulder.

I laughed and said: There you are, are you eating again..you just ate..oh Momo you are always eating

Zuko stared at Momo.

What?

Zuko: "No..nevermind"

Listen if you want me to trust you, you have to tell me what's wrong.

Zuko sighed and said:"Your bond with this lemur.."

With Momo.

Zuko:"Sorry..with Momo yes..it is special."

Momo and I looked at each other before facing Zuko.

I said: It is, Momo is a very sweet little boy.. You never had pets?

Zuko shook his head and said:"I.. I...

He cleared his throat and said: "When I was younger my mother used to take me feeding the turtleducks at the palace."

That sounds sweet Zuko.

Zuko shook his head and said: "I wasn't I one time threw a piece of bread at one the babies."

Why would you do that?

"I wanted to show my mother how Azula fed the turtleducks..I got bitten by the motherduck once I threw it at her babies" said Zuko

Serves you right.

"It did, I said that they were stupid and my mother comforted me saying that it's what mothers do..you come at their babies and then they'll bite."

She sounds like a wonderful person Zuko.

Zuko smiled, he looked up at me and said she was..

I clutched my necklace and said..I lost my mother to the fire nation..she protected me and I couldn't save her..

Zuko looked at me and said:"Your mother was a very brave woman"

I clutched my necklace, I know..she was..

Zuko looked at me and I looked at him.

We looked at each other for a few seconds before he said: "We are back at the tea shop"

Oh..we're back..

Zuko: "Yes..we are."

Zuko and I walked inside and he gave me a table.

"You can sit here and Momo can sit here"

I smiled and thanked Zuko.

I thought to myself: Be careful Katara never let down your guard, it could be trick..right?

Zuko brought us three cups of tea.

Thank you Zuko.

"You're welcome Katara..So..uhm what did you want to know?"

What made you change?

Zuko sighed and said:"I have made so many mistakes and the past few months I've seen what the fire nation did to the nations..

I used to think we're the superior nation but all of those stories are far away from the truth.. people hate us, they're scared of us. They hate me"

I was shocked.. I didn't expect Zuko to have a genuine answer but he gave one immediately..was I really feeling bad for him?

"You don't have to believe me or even trust me..I don't expect you to..after everything that happened.."

You did steal my mother's necklace to track down Aang..

"I never stole your necklace, you lost it and I found it..I did use it to track Aang..and I see now that it was wrong. I am sorry Katara"

Zuko looked at me shocked:"It is.."

It is..you are sorry.

Zuko nodded his head: "What else do you want to know?"

Well..how do you know my name and do you know the other their names?

Zuko smirked and said:"I know your name because I'm smart..during our fights I heard them call you your name and I remembered it."

I see.. so what's my brother's name?

Zuko's face turned:"His name..?"

I laughed at Zuko and said: Yes his name, what's the matter you were so smart right..sure you remember his name.

Zuko blushed a bit and said: "I know he has a boomerang.. than there's the Avatar and you have a little blind girl."

His name is Sokka, "The Avatar" is called Aang and the blind girl is Toph.

Zuko smiled at me and said: "Yeah..that's what I meant.."
