67 The Relic of Knowledge

Opening his eyes, Adam found himself back to reality

"Don't we need the Spring Maiden for this doorway to open?" Rimuru, who appeared beside him at some point, asked him as she focused intently on the door

"We would, normally...." The silver-haired boy trailed off as he looked at the floral pattern of the door

"Normally...?" Rias parroted his words, looking at him with a questioning look

"Just watch"

Adam's eyes glowed with magical light, he placed his hand on the floral pattern of the doorway. And as he touched it, an intriguing phenomenon unfolded.

Dark red lines emerged, creeping up the doorway and enveloping it in their corrupting embrace. As the red lines finished their job, corrupting and taking control of the mechanism behind the doorway, the silver haired boy commanded the door to open.

At his will, the floral patterns on the doorway glowed brightly, illuminating the way as the fan rotated, allowing them to cross.

"Ah? Adam, did you use that weird power of yours?" The slime girl, observing the dark red corruption lines and the opening of the doorway, instantly recognized Adam's unique ability.

Although Rimuru didn't fully comprehend the nature of this power, she had a rough understanding of it.

'"Yes" The silver-haired boy nodded in acceptance, acknowledging Rimuru's observation "How did you know, though?"

He raised an eyebrow, watching as the blue-haired loli scratched the back of her head in embarrassment at his question

"Ah well...." She dodged his eyes, avoiding eye contact "I analyzed your DNA with the help of [Great Sage], and..... your biology is a little weird"

Now, this revelation made Adam frown, his eyes taking on a contemplative look as he tried to grasp the meaning behind her words.

"Oh...." He blinked, knowing what caused Rimuru to say these words

The Herrscher of Corruption's biology is peculiar in itself—besides having the ability to seemingly transform between the digital and physical realm, she can also live without a body. Even if the body was completely destroyed, she could still exist in a digital form as pure data.

Add that Herrscher's unique biology, which he obtained after he devoured a large part of RIN, and all the templates with all the races and foreign DNA contains

... Safe to say, compared with others, his body's complexity became apparent

"Oh? Is this the power you got from that Yokai Herrscher?" Rias interrupted his thoughts with a question of her own, not understanding what Rimuru was talking about

He was live-streaming when he defeated the Herrscher of Corruption and devoured her, so all members knew what happened and that he obtained her power….. Probably, using that power should clue them that he obtained RIN's powers, but who knows what's going on through the other member's heads?

"Yeah. Now that this doorway has opened, shouldn't we enter it?" Answering Rias and changing the subject, he looked towards the now-opened doorway, which reflected the image of a vast desert

As the three of them passed through the doorway, an interesting feeling crept up on Adam

The silver-haired boy has teleported many times... But this is the first time he has gone to another dimension (The travel card of the Chat Room doesn't count, as it smoothly allows him to traverse to other verses)

After they passed the doorway, it led to another dimension with a vast desert and three circular stone platforms leading to a stone pedestal above which the Relic of Knowledge levitated.

His Alpha Stigma was still activated, and [Great Sage] was running at its fullest potential—recording and analyzing all that was happening around them.

The general knowledge of dimensions, pocket dimensions, and spatial abilities fascinated him. Unfortunately, Adam was currently unskilled in such a regard, his knowledge only coming from analyzing his teleportation semblance and the Chat Room's travel cards (which had a lot of knowledge, but he couldn't understand it with his 'mortal' mind).

"Ah...." Rimuru looked somewhat amazed, her golden eyes darting around the dessert dimension.

The slime girl has more experience in traveling dimensions than him. Her reincarnation to the Cardinal world, and her daily use of teleportation-like skills had added to that experience

"This is.... a small dimension"

Rias, completely different from her fellow members, commented off-handedly with a frown on her face, her voice oozing disappointment

Her being unimpressed with this display was normal. To be honest, as the little sister of the current Lucifer, dimensions and teleportation, in general, were commonplace in her life.

The silver-haired boy himself would be surprised if Rias was amazed by such a simple pocket dimension... Something would be truly wrong in that case

But after observing the reactions of the devil and the slime, Adam's eyes zeroed in on the stone pedestal, gazing intently at the golden ornamented lamp with a blue sphere in the middle

The Relic of Knowledge, or the 'Lamp' as it is uncommonly referred to

"Is that it?" The red-haired devil tilted her head questioningly to the side as her gaze fell upon the Lamp "... It doesn't seem that impressive"

Again, Rias is the little sister of Lucifer, so it is normal that she has seen more impressive artifacts than this.... Or it was because she couldn't move past the seemingly ordinary appearance of the Lamp and sense it on a deeper scale

Moving his head toward the slime, he saw her gazing at the Relic of Knowledge with a focused expression

"It's just...." Sensing his questioning thoughts, Rimuru moved her gaze at him "A spirit living in an object is pretty cool.... She actually seems like the Genies from the stories of my previous world!"

Evidently, the slime girl's perception was far better than the busty Devil's, combine that with the knowledge Adam had shared with her.... It is also normal for her to be a little impressed by this relic

"Indeed...." The sliver-haired boy trailed off, agreeing with her "Too bad she can't grant wishes, though"

"Isn't it pretty similar?" The slime continued "She can answer 3 questions, and they can be about anything!"

"Except for the future" He deadpanned at Rimuru

"E-except the future..." She rubbed the back of her head sheepishly, her golden eyes avoiding his gaze

.... At least she had the shame to get embarrassed

"Stop flirting!" The read head interjected from the side, impatient at their banter "Let's use this 'Relic of Knowledge', and see if it works!"

Rias, although she was a devil and lived in a supernatural world, was still a bit doubtful about the Lamp's capabilities- so she wanted to see for herself if it worked

... Seeing these two guys flirting with each other and treating her like air also made her very uncomfortable! So it was better to remind them of their purpose!

"Fine... Fine...." Rolling his eyes at her, Adam took the lead and stepped towards the Relic of Knowledge

After reaching the stone pedestal, he hesitated a little, before finally grasping the Lamp and lifting it up

Bringing it towards his face, the five-pointed stars around his iris' revolved even faster, trying to analyze this creation made by a God completely

Adam flinched slightly as blue mist escaped from the lamp. Shifting his eyes, he glanced at the mist that was slowly forming a figure of a woman

The figure's appearance is that of a Human, but much larger. Her skin is a light blue that glows and gives off smoke, similar to the Relic of Knowledge. She has elongated, pointed ears with long, flowing dark blue hair. Her eyes are dark blue in the sclerae and pupils and a lighter blue in the irises. Trailing below her waist is a veil of a wisp-like smoke resembling the skirt of a dress.

This was Jinn, the spirit that resides within the Relic of Knowledge

"Well hello there visitors. Do you have any questions for me?" Her playful yet surprisingly human-like voice echoed through the surrounding dimension
