Chapter 12: "Uhm. It's Hoyoverse fault."

It was morning.

Inside a hotel room.

The morning filtered through the window and into the room as Xuan groggily opened his eyes.

Rubbing his eyes before stretching his arms, he stifled a yawn before his gaze fell on Shiki, who was sleeping on the same bed, close to him.

Xuan stretched his hand to her hair, adjusting her head to the back of her hair, lest her hair enter her mouth.

"Shiki. It's time to get up."

"Hmm. Five more minutes."

Xuan tried waking the lazy Herrscher up, but she reclined back into the warmness of the bed. While holding onto Xuan, who was going to get out of bed.

"Haah." Xuan sighed exasperatedly, nodding his head for a short moment before continuing.

"If you don't get up, Fu Hua is going to beat you—"

"—She dares!"

Before Xuan even completed his words, the Herrscher of Sentience had already gotten up from bed, jumped away from the bed to the floor, and assumed a fighting stance before looking around the room.

There was no Hua anywhere, only Xuan.

"You're finally up," Xuan beamed with a smile as he continued casually. "Good morning."

"...."

"Damn, you actually lied to me!"

The Herrscher of Sentience looked at Xuan aggrievedly; she didn't expect that a Herrscher would get tricked like this once more, and he would be deceived for the second time.

"You're just too naive, my dear; why did you believe Fu Hua would actually be here?"

Still, regardless of his words, Xuan tilted his head to the sides, dodging a spear that flew straight at him before looking at Sentence speechless, ignoring the damage done to the walls of the hotel room.

"Do you actually want to kill me?"

"Hmph." Shiki clenched her fist as she harrumphed.

"Alright, alright, I'm sorry, I won't do it again~" Xuan coerced her, raising his hands in surrender along with a playful smile.

"Good." The Herrscher put her hands on her hip, raising her head with a proud expression.

It was also at this time that the system, by itself, opened a panel in front of the two.

[Omnipotent Item System.]

[You have unopened treasure boxes; claim them now!]

"To think the system would remind us of itself is deplorable." Xuan muttered before looking at Senti, who was also looking at him.

Shrugging his head, he tapped the gacha—ahem, treasure box interface, which, if Xuan was honest, looked like the gacha animation of the Honkai 3rd game itself.

Is this a coincidence?

Nah.

[World Quest Scroll: Use this scroll to go to a parallel or other world at will and complete the assigned tasks to get rich rewards.]

"Oh? How generous." Contrary to what he said, Xuan was actually excited deep within. 'Other worlds?'

Why wouldn't he be interested? Be it parallel worlds to this one or other worlds, it simply meant he wouldn't be bored for as long as he lived.

'Muehe Hehehehe Hahahaha.'

Xuan performed a three-stage laughter in his mind, not paying attention to Senti, who had already begun her own draws.

And as expected, children who love to laugh are always the lucky ones.

[Excalibur Honkai version (Sword of the Oath of Victory)] Made to suit the Honkai world. Disposable: After chanting the Honkai Excalibur Liberation Spell, the user can unleash devastating attacks.

[Liberation spell: "Scriptures as guide, I wield mastery over the art of war with strategic prowess, crowned as the sovereign of law, the arbiter of reason's decree. Excalibur!"]

The weapon materialised from thin air falling into the hands of the Herrscher, who was simply toying around with the sword.

"Oh, it looks good."

In response to her words, Xuan simply looked at the sword as he swallowed it down. But then, after careful inspection, even Senti herself could tell, "It's a good weapon."

"One can only say as expected from the omnipotent system. That weapon, if it's the weapon I think it is, then it should currently be the strongest weapon in this world."

"Oh? Is it as powerful as Kevin's?"

"...." Xuan pursed his lips for a moment before looking at the Herrscher of Sentience and saying solemnly, "As expected, you have indeed read my memories."

There was an awkward silence that filled the room immediately after Xuan said those words.

Ahh, it was awkward.

"As much as I wanted, I didn't want to, but in the end, it was because of my curiosity." Senti sighed, giving Xuan a glance between her words.

She was simply curious about him.

But then she couldn't help it; it was gnawing on her.

And in the end, "Xuan..."

"What's wrong."

"Currently. Is our world... nothing but a game to you?" The Herrscher of Sentience, in all seriousness, stared at Xuan; in fact, when she asked this question, she had the demeanour of what a Herrscher should act like.

At first, she didn't believe what she saw in his memories, but they were indeed facts, including the parts about the future.

Everything there is true.

"Is that it? Haah, you think too much." Ruffling his hair, Xuan spoke softly as he continued. "Of course not; in that case, wouldn't I also be a game character?"

"I'm more or less in the same position as you; I'm stuck here, in this game world, with you." Xuan said honestly with a smile; he couldn't say much, nor could he baselessly say she's real.

After all, be this a real world or a game world, the fact that he's currently here in this game world, alive and kicking, means he's also a real person too.

He didn't think much about it.

Plus, now he has a chance to chance all the tragedies, so why wouldn't he? Especially since this is a world he loves.

"You can hear my thoughts, right?" Xuan stood up from the bed with a smile, looking at Senti. Maybe he did look at this world in such a way before.

But now, with Senti's words, the realisation hit.

"If anything, blame Hoyoverse!"

"That's right, it's Hoyoverse's fault!"

"It's that evil company!"

Both of them pushed the blame on a certain company for a while to vent their frustrations, mostly with Senti.

But with Xuan's reassuring words, she didn't think much of it anymore.

It's like he said, "He's stuck here with her.".

"Speaking of which, correct me if I'm wrong, I saw some weird images and videos in a certain secret folder on your laptop from your memories; just what is it?"

Senti's cold voice trailed off as she appeared behind Xuan, whispering to his ears, her eyes shining brightly.

"Gulp." With a nervous gulp and chuckle, Xuan swallowed it down. His pseudo-Herrscher brain comes up with countless excuses on the fly.

"Uhm. It's Hoyoverse's fault."

Editor's note:

Eh.... this chapter gave me a headache to say the least. 70 something percent of this chapter was.... gibberish. I tried writing it and giving the mc and Senti more relationship development.

I dunno if this chapter was cringe or not, but considering it's a Chinese fic, i don't feel bad if it's cringe lol.

P.S: I think I'll change the update schedule to one chapter per day except Saturdays and Sundays.

Like it? Good.
