19 Little Experiment

"How are you feeling after watching your friend die?" Looking at these two conniving individuals made Thomas' blood pressure rise.

The question came out of nowhere, stunning Kara a little. She didn't think the Commander would openly ask a question like that.

Looking for a reply, Thomas waited as she came back to herself.

"Umm...yes, I-I was heartbroken. I didn't think that you would eject her." Kara knew her answer was lacking. Caught unaware she didn't have time to prepare as she did at the docking station.

An eyebrow lifted, Thomas looked at Kara in blatant contempt.

"Oh!? You didn't think I would eject a person who lied, endangered the passengers of this fleet and stole a ticket from another individual...? Then what should I have ejected someone for?"

Shaking his head in laughter, Thomas caused Kara's face to flame bright red.

"Sir, we are just as shock as the rest of the crew...Kara has interacted with Lila more than anyone else, so she feels closer to this loss deeply..." Pace tried to save Kara from her embarrassment.

Pace's words stopped Thomas' laughter, leaving the once again in silence.

"Yes...It's true you are close to this matter."

Picking up one of the small bottles of greenish fluid, Thomas held it up to his face and examined the liquid.

This liquid was one of the best-kept secrets in their government even the former president didn't know about it.

Pace and Kara looked at one another, realizing this meeting isn't going how they thought it would.

"Sir, umm...the reason you called us here?" Pace asked after seeing the Commander getting distracted.

"Hmm?..." Breaking eye contact with the bottle, Thomas once again gave them his full attention.

"Looking at your faces, it seems your happy after killing your friend." Thomas' voice was so casual that the statement was almost over-looked by both Kara and Pace.

When they finally realize what he said, they felt their hearts drop to the floor.

"Sir, I'm don't understand what you mean?" Kara thought she might have heard wrong.

When Thomas' eyes swung her way, she felt her whole mind opened up for his inspection. Sweat and tears poured down her face, and her breathing sped up, she couldn't understand why she was feeling this way.

Pace watched Kara fall apart, he called out to her, but all she continued to do was stare at the Commander. The temperature in the room was rising with every second, to the point where it was hard to breathe.

Unable to take this anymore, Pace walked to Kara and grabbed her arms, shaking her out of her stupor. With the connection broken between the two, Pace could felt the room returning to normal.

Coming out of her trance Kara spun around looking to see her surrounding. Realizing she never left the room, Kara was stunned to her core. She could have sworn she was trapped in her sleeper cell.

"Wha...What just happened!?" She looked at Pace for answers.

"You blanked out...I called and called you, but you didn't respond. I had to shake you to wake you up." Observing Kara, Pace tried to figure out what the hell was going on!?

Desiring to torture Kara a little more, but having the connection broken led Thomas to bring them back to the topic at hand.

"You've been stealing Lila's work since elementary school... You even made a name for yourself on someone else's work. Then, when it got to be too much, you framed her for the theft and had her killed. Have I gotten everything correct, Kara...?"

Walking to the front of his desk, Thomas leaned back, still holding the bottle in his hand.

"Well, I don't really need you to answer what I already know..."

Signaling the two soldiers, they restrained Kara and Pace.

"What is going on!?" The two soldiers subdued the two, making them go down on their knees with their arms restrained behind their backs.

"We are going to try a little experiment." Thomas passed the bottle in his hand to Jun.

"Why are you doing this?" Eyes watery, face red, Kara lefted up her head to look at the Commander.

"Do I really need to explain why this is happening to you?... Oh! Well, maybe I do? Considering your not as intelligent as I thought you were..." The tone of Thomas' voice made Kara's and Pace's skin crawl.

"We didn't d-" Pace choked out.

"YOU STILL DARE TO LIE TO ME!"

"I'm sorry...I'm sorry..." Kara kept apologizing over and over again, and Pace was too scared to lift up his head again.

"I sacrificed a genius because of you two. You are now mine...You will eat, sleep, and shit only when I say you can...and right now, what I want you to do is swallow this..." Thomas pointed at the bottle in Jun's hand.
