6 5. Basement Secrets

[Prison]

Kelly was walking back and forth, biting her thumb. "How come Father or Mother didn't bother to come and visit me? What is going on?" She thought about it and she gasped. "Don't tell me...they're going to abandon me.? No...no..that can't be."

[Wang residence]

Annie was getting ready to head out. There's a knock at the door. "Come in." She turns around and it was Natalie. It seems like she didn't get any sleep. "Mother. What's wrong?" Natalie walks to Annie and grabs her hands. "Mila. You got to help, okay?" Annie tilts her head in confusion. (Annie: Help your daughter out of your crime? No way.)

"What is it? If I can help, I can try." "I want you to talk to the Prime Minister and tell them that it's a mistake." "Mother. I am sorry. Jenny already awaken up from her slumber. She already told the police everything." "W-What?" "I told her that it must be misunderstanding of how sister got involved in this. I heard they found a few witnesses at the crime scene. They find Kelly standing at the crime scene."

Natalie's hands trembles. "Im-impossible." "Mother. Where was she at that time? Was she already in bed?" "No she was out---" Natalie was shocked. (Natalie: N-No way.) Natalie pulls her hands away and cover her mouth. (Natalie: She wouldn't go there. There must be a mistake.) Annie smirks to see how panic Natalie is. Annie leans in and asks, "Mother...? Are you alright?"

Natalie gasped and said, "I-I'm okay. Are you heading out?" "Yes. Prime Minister wanted to see me." Natalie nods. "Then...off you go." "Yes." Annie then grab her bag and left the bedroom. Natalie dash to her bedroom and call someone. An anonymous male voice answers the call, "Hello?" "It's me. We need to talk." "There's nothing to talk about." "It's about our daughter, Kelly. She's in trouble." He sighs. "Fine. Meet me at the usual spot." "Okay." Natalie hangs up.

"It's okay. With his help, Kelly will be fine. She will be fine." Annie then receives a phone call. "Hello?" "Natalie made a phone call." "Oh? Who is it?" "I run into the system, guess who it is." "Well...it cannot be her parents since they disowned her. The only one she can go to is the father of her child." "Wow. Annie. You're so smart." "What did they talk about?" "I hacked into the systems and Mrs. Wang asks her old lover to meet in order to talk about their daughter's mess."

Annie then said, "Send an anonymous untraceable text message of the location to Mr. Wang." "Got it." "Oh and make sure it is Mrs. Wang who sent it." "Got it, boss." Annie then hangs up the call and head to her grandfather's place.

[Zong's residence]

Annie arrives and sits on the chair, letting out a sigh. Grandfather appears. "Annie." She looks up and sees him. "Gramps." "How is everything going?" "Everything is going as planned." He nods. "Let me know if you need a hand." "Mm." "I guess you already met your fiancé at the party?" "Yeah. I did." "So..what do you think of him?" Annie then speaks in a honest manner, "Gramps. Right now I want to find Mila's killer. The engagement can wait." "I understand."

Annie grabs her bag and left the mansion. He sighs. He looks at his side. "Don't you think she's overworking, Mila?" Mila's soul was standing behind Gramps. She sadly smiles. <She's not getting a plenty of sleep.> "She still need your guidance. Leave out some clues for her to solve and find your murder." <...If she knew about the reason why I end up being dead, she will turn this city upside down..you know that, don't you, Gramps.> Gramps sighs. "...Watch over her, Mila. They will make a dirty move on Annie." Mila nods and disappears.

Annie then arrives at the station. She went to visit Kelly in prison. Kelly was notified that a family wanted to see her. She didn't think Mila would come here to visit her. Kelly scoffs. "It's just you?" Annie just smiles. "How are you?" Kelly ignores her. Annie then speaks up, "Things aren't looking too well for you, Kelly. Why not confess."

Kelly looks at Annie. Annie leans against the back of the chair as she cross her arms. "You...who are you?" Annie smirks. "What do you mean?" "Mila wouldn't talk back at me." "Is that so?" Kelly furrows her brows. Annie asks, "Why were you at the crime scene, Kelly?" Kelly flinched. "W-wha?" Annie leans in and said in a low voice, "You were watching, weren't you? Once he shot me twice, he left. You walked over to the car. You were holding a gun, pointing at me. You pulled the trigger."

Kelly trembles. Annie continues, "You reach out and see if I'm dead. You think I'm a goner so you quickly left the scene but, Kelly, you totally forgot about the CCTV. Every single move of yours were recorded and sealed." Her eyes widened. BAM! Kelly bangs on the table. "Impossible! I-I already taken care of the cameras, there's no way you can restore those footage."

Annie leans back and smirks, "True, we couldn't." Kelly was confused. Annie pulls out a recorder out of her pocket. "Thanks for confessing." Annie turns around and was about to leave. "Y-You...just what are you?" Annie shrugs, "A person coming back from the dead, collecting your family's sins."

"W-wait. Let's make a deal." Annie stops and looks at Kelly. "What kind of deal?" "I tell you anything you want, in return I want my freedom." Annie chuckles, "Freedom? No can do." Kelly said, "Didn't you ask me if I ever gone to the basement?" (Annie: Basement?) Kelly continues, "I did once. Father was down there with some friends. Father forbid us going down there." Annie turns around. "Mila, didn't you went down there once?" (Annie: Mila went down there once?)
