16 The Seer (3)

"So, what you're saying is, we help you get him back, explain what I am and all that had happened during the war, then we call it quits? Of course, you also have to give me the name of the person who can help me with my dilemma. Did I get everything correct?" Yllana was sitting on the wooden chair as she examined the little blue girl in front of her.

The little girl was looking straight at the red-haired girl and the dark man with a grim face beside her. She nodded politely and smiled. "However, you don't need to do much. He is enough to take Midel out of that place." Her pointing finger was directed at Lucien as she sized up the man. She seems to know how powerful he is. "Demon, remember that you must not harm him and get out quickly before anyone suspects anything, alright?" There she was again, addressing him as a demon. Yllana sighed as she looked helplessly at Lucien.

"Wait here." With that, he disappeared without a sound. The room they rented went quiet as he left the room. The little girl cupped her little face in front of Yllana, "Why are you resisting to advance to a mid-common mage?" Her question startled two red eyes across the table. With the door closed, no one could hear them outside. Her eyes were so innocent-looking as she probed onto Yllana's soul.

"I am not sure yet if I want to be a mage."

"Eh? But you are a natural-born mage. How could you waste such an opportunity?! Are you an idiot?" It was ironic hearing such harsh words from a seven-year-old child but what hurt deeper was that she was right on point. Why waste such an opportunity? Not all mages were born naturally to acquire such an innate gift but she was doubting herself. This little girl in front of her knows that she is thinking of going back to be a knight. Yes, she still wanted to go back because she spent all these years being one and if Seer Midel could just give her an assurance that she could still be one, she could just waste away the chance of being a mage. After all, she really doesn't want to be one anyway. And it was her choice, right?

A bitter smile hang on her lips as she bit her lip, not answering the questions that the little girl was throwing at her.

When night came, the door to a remote inn slowly creaked open. Two bodies cloaked in black slowly went inside and sat down on the chairs on the center table. From the staggering walk of one of the two black-cloaked men, one could see how badly injured that guy is. Blood was trickling from the corner of his sleeves and his lips were cracked and paled.

"Thank...you..." his breathing was haggard and his voice was so weak that it was almost a whisper. No one knew that one of the prisoners from the palace dungeon was already outside and being treated. A little blue ball bounced from the inner room and met the two men.

"Where is the bigger idiot?" Lucien glanced around did not find any trace of Yllana.

"She went out to get some food." The little girl ran past him and quickly hugged the wounded man. "Let me see your wounds. I have the medicine we brought from the other city from last week," Her eyes were watery and she was sniffling, trying her best to suppress the cry that was about to break out from her mouth.

"Eh, little Shiiba is now so thoughtful and could take care of me. I have truly been blessed." The wounded man removed his hood and a lump of silver hair cascaded down to his shoulders. his face was full of scars and deep cuts that one of his eyes cannot be seen already.

"I'll leave him to your care then," Lucien just glanced at the little girl who was treating the seer's wounds. This pair is not of his concern. He just wanted to finish their trip so he offered help for now. But they needed to find another location soon before the city lord will find out that they rescued a prisoner.

He still have to ask them why he was held as a prisoner in the palace. But right now is not a good time since the man was badly beaten and needed to rest and replenish his energy. After the little girl treated Midel, Lucien sent them to the one of the inner bedrooms to rest as he waited patiently for Yllana.
