1 The Disunited Archipelago

West of the continental landmass was the Strait Of Jahel.

The Strait Of Jahel was a very profitable trade route as it connected sailors with many expensive resources such as oil and metals which made it the most frequented sailing route for sailors on the continent.

And directly west of the Strait was a giant archipelago called The Archipelago Of Jahel by the sailors. The archipelago was composed of a few hundred islands, though it would be better to describe it as a mini-continent.

The Archipelago had beautiful beaches and an array of unique climates not foumd anywhere else in the known world. But most importantly, it had fertile land that was suitable for all types of agriculture and metals renowned for their durability when making weapons.

Very soon, the archipelago started attracting people from all over the continent and this made the archipelago the most cosmopolitan place in the Known World.

But as the islands started becoming very populated the people started closing their doors off to outsiders and this allowed the island's new population to form their own culture different from that of the continental mainland. And the discovery of magic within this Holy land further strengthened this notion of unique culture within the minds of the New Islanders.

As the New Islanders settled and consolidates their presence on the Archipelago, it was also discovered that 72 Gods ruled over this heavenly land and the spirits that resided within it.

These 72 gods liked to mind their own business a lot so they rarely interfered with the people and they only did so when there was a major conflict between the ethnic groups in the islands and sometimes helped them when there was an environmental crisis on the islands like a lack of rain or giant swarms of invasive insects.

Due to this peculiar trait that they had they were refered to by the people as The 72 Old Gods, just like calm grandparents who helped their grandchildren develop.

And this cycle of peace continued for trillions of years as the nations on the islands developed into a formidable united federation called the "United Isles of Dreamland(UID)"with a complex government system and coexistence between the countless ethnic groups. The UID' capital was a city on the eastern coast of the island called " Holy City: Darussalam(House Of Peace)".

This seemingly perpetual cycle of peace ended with the decease of The 72 Old Gods and the rise of The 72 New Gods.

At first, the 72 New Gods were very similar to the Old Gods and ruled the archipelago with peace and love for it's residents, but as time went on, they started demanding more and more from the humans and anyone who didn't collaborate would bring tribulation to the entire population.

As humans were creatures who liked blaming the faults of individuals on entire populations the ethnic groups started blaming each other for these tribulations and this ultimately led to the dissolve of the IUD and the creation of disunited fascist states and kingdoms.

The 72 New Gods, or the Mad Gods as they are now called, elected kings to the thrones of these new kingdoms and gave them divine right to leadership, restoring an ancient system where monarchs had every right over the people in their respective land.

During the worst ethnic conflict the archipelago had ever seen, instead of helping, the Mad Gods each teamed up with their elected kings(rule under the Mad Gods was very patriarchal, so i doubt they would allow a female to take up the throne) and fought among themselves to death, leaving behind an arid wasteland with only a few islands unharmed.

After this conflict that almost destroyed the archipelago, the humans didn't want to have anything to do with gods, so they destroyed any spirit that proclaimed itself to be a god before it got it's powers.

Some parts of the archipelago recovered from this war but the rule of the Mad Gods still had a permanent effect on the coexistence of the different ethnic groups here, and it created this disunited land with hundreds of small kingdoms and tribes.

For all this time, up in the sky, someone was watching everything.

It was the Godqueen of the archipelago, an existence far surpassing that of any god who ever crossed the archipelago, but, ironically enough, she couldn't use her divine powers to affect the world directly so she was forced to watch her children( every lifeform on the Archipelago) go through immense suffering.

She wanted to see the islands go back to the way they were before but no one on the islands had any thoughts of uniting back.

The Godqueen couldn't affect this world with her powers, but that didn't mean she couldn't do it in other worlds, so she thought of summoning someone who would save the archipelago.

" Maybe they would do it, do something i wasn't able to do. Maybe they would make the archipelago prosperous like it once was and turn it from a wasteland to the beautiful Holy Land it was in the past" The Godqueen sighed in regret.
