7 Chp 7 : Revelation?

After Mary made a call to her acquaintance, they have agreed to meet next Monday at a café in Beverly Hills "I have made an appointment with them and we will meet your agent to discuss the agreement first. If that agent suitable for you, then we will sign the contract."

Hearing that, Al just agreed to her " Okay Mary, you're my manager."

"No, I am not." Hearing that, Mary just disagreed. " We also need to find you a manager or personal assistant in the future. I can't always 24/7 beside you, I got many things to do."

The next day, they go to the Blue Mountain Café in Beverly Hills. When they arrive, they ask the waitress for someone who came from CAA, so she took them to table number nine.

That surprised Al, he thought they will meet an old guy, and also this made Al doubt the CAA's sincerity.

"Hello, good morning, you must be Mary. You are really beautiful as she said, Miss." The man smiled. "Thank you very much, Mr...." She paused a second.

" Oh, I forgot to introduce myself." The mas stuttered. "My name is Ari Emanuel, an agent from CAA."

'Ari Emanuel? Where did I hear that name?' Thought Al.

Mary was surprised to hear that and ask, " Are you sure, you look young." He just smiled and said, "I take that as a compliment then, but in fact, I was just graduated as an agent trainee back then and an older agent recommended me to take this client."

"WHAT!?" Hearing that, Mary was more surprised. " I thought they recommended me to an older and more experienced agent, I heard so many rumors that CAA is serious about treating their customer, not send an inexperienced agent to do this work!" Mary said angrily, and her hand cupped to fist seemed to want to smash the table.

Heard that, Ari feel uncomfortable and sigh. So he decided to tell Mary the truth, "The truth is Miss, the agency not so bright as you see outside. The competition inside of each agent is very harsh. The old geezer only cares about the big name and for us such a small agent, we can only search for newcomers and B or C grade stars. And also, once our client reaches an A-list, they start poaching them from us." He said with an awkward smile.

Hearing that, Mary began to calm down and feel a bit pity for him. "Okay I will believe you but I just want to ask that are you capable of handling things."

He smiled and said with confidence "Don't worry miss, although I'm new, I'm the best of my peers, I became a trainee for 4 years since I was 15." "You are 19 this year?" She asked.

"I'm 20 next month, in fact, many of the agents have been like this. They start at a young age. Only the one with a good connection can become a top agent in their 30s." He said.

Al who was just listening and became a spectator finally spoke "Don't worry Ari, you just got a jackpot. Let those old geezers regret this. As long as your performance satisfies me, we can corporate and I won't be poached by them." He said while he smiled.

Ari heard that and surprise to see a kid saying that, he smiled and said: "Oh you must be my soon to be client, I didn't catch your name before and why do you say I hit the jackpot?" He said while he was confused.

"My name is Alphonse Brant, Ari, and why did I say jackpot? First thing first, I need to know your ability. I heard that there is an audition for Steven Spielberg's new film and I want to know that if you can give me an audition opportunity for that film?"

Heard that, Ari and Mary were surprised. For Ari, he never knew a kid that far from Hollywood circle knew that and for Mary.... her face turned gloomy and said, "Kid, did you hide something from me again? How did you know that?"

Mary knew he knows something that far from his age and always pranking her since their relationship becomes better. But Mary also curious about how Al got this information.

"I got my own source," He just smirked when he said that. To annoy Mary was the thing he likes to do the most.

"Suit yourself, Al," Mary said while shaking her head.

They turn back to the previous topic. Ari smiled and told Al, "I can do that, I can set you up for an audition for Spielberg's movie. As you know, he is one of the big names in the Jewish community and my parents also got some reputation there, so maybe they can give me time to meet Spielberg. As for passing the audition, I don't have those power yet and it depends on your performance. But I'll make sure you get that role!"

Ari said those things passionately, while he feels excited that the first client he got want to eat a big cake for his debut.

As you know, how many child celebrities made money for their agent. Except you are a big star like Macaulay Culkin, Olsen Twins, or Drew Barrymore, the child star only can make money from advertisement or just modeling. It's hard for children to enter A-list stars.

That's why some child star was a pit for the agents, only trainee, outcast, or bad reputation agent who handles them.

Al was glad that Ari could give him those audition, and also an agent with a strong backer. He asked, "Can we trust you for this information, Ari?"

Ari was confused at first, but he said "An agent is the closest person in business for his client, Mr. Al. It against our code of ethics to spread gossip from our clients."

Back to topic, so Al decided to tell him "Do you know who wrote the <Jurassic Park> Ari?"

He answered, "I heard his name was Al B. Ephron, from his name I think he is of Jewish descent or maybe Nora Ephron's relatives. Why you aski....."

He realized something important

Alphonse B. ?

B? Brandt?

'Oh My Shit'

Then he awakened and said "When can we sign the contract??"
