Recap of the Previous Chapter —

The chapter started off with a POV of Rian Johnson, our resident fanboy. After that advice from Mark at the Comic Con and speaking with him on 3 different occasions. Rian decides to fully pursue his dreams of becoming a writer and director, he reads books of the topic and even signed up for the Marvelous Comic Artists Workshop.

Then we see him reading the second issue of Naruto, he appreciates the vibrancy of it and identifies the storytelling method that Mark used in the 2nd issue. There he sees Naruto be attacked by a giant snake and is then saved by a hooded old man who is later revealed to be Mark in the Narutoverse.

He reads as the two have a conversation, and after Naruto gets Mark to agree on training him there is a small training montage.

Then we see Mark, Johnny, River and Salma backstage on the set of the Late Night Show with Johnny Carson. They are joking around when they get called in for their appearance.

The scene then shifts POV's to multiple people from a group of people in an orphanage funded by Mark, to his Inner Circle, to Sofia and her friends, to Harold - head of the PR Department at Disney.

We then see Mark charm both audiences on set and those watching him on TV. A lot of secrets are revealed but nothing that damages Mark's public image and only serves to enhance it. The show then came to an end with the host wishing Mark luck for Knives Out's premier.

~ 3rd Person's POV ~

.

Date: 6th September, 1990.

.

Location: At the Mann's Chinese Theatre.

.

Time: 03:47 pm.

..

.

The day had arrived, the long awaited premier day of a movie that half of America was eagerly waiting to watch. It was 6th September and they had camped outside the ticket booth from last night just to get these tickets.

It might sound crazy to some but these were die hard Mark Spector fan's and they were here to support their idol's transition into a new career. While most fan's would be angry or upset at their favorite author for not prioritizing his job as an author.

Most of Mark's fans were some of the most patient, yet passionate people there are. The reason for this is because of Mark's writing style, him taking his time with the character development, world building and such things really cut out the stupid and irritable people from his fanbase.

This was not even on purpose and something Mark only found out when he went to the NYFA and talked to more people to get opinions about his book's. Never revealing himself as their author but it allowed him to see what wholesome community he had accidentally created.

It was these fans that now stood outside the Chinese theater in an orderly manner with small banners to show their appreciation, love and respect. They were eagerly waiting for Mark's arrival on the red carpet, to see him live and maybe even share a few words.

As they were waiting for Mark's arrival they saw quite a few big Hollywood celebrities walk the red carpet. They gave a small interview to the media assembled here and then entered the theater hall.

They saw - Patrick Swayze, Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford, Richard Dreyfuss, Jodie Foster, Martin Scorsese, Robert Redford and many more that they couldn't identify.

While waiting for their idol, they also got provided with cold drinks by the staff of Eidolon that were in-charge of maintaining the crowd. They were being asked if they needed water or anything else and even told that Mark would only be a few more minutes.

Mark was reclining in the back seat of his, never had he been more glad about choosing the sound proofing and the extra spacious leg room option for the back.

As before him, knelt, his most loyal pet, lost in a haze, slavishly giving him the best blowjob of his life was Evelyn.

He felt like she might just suck the soul out of him, "Eva, augh, dear. Here, let me help you." he said as he grabbed her head by the sides and started deepthroating her but at a slow pace not wanting to ruin her painstakingly applied makeup.

"Augh, you look so perfect like this my love. At such peace with your proper place in life, on your knees, sucking my cock like a good little pet." he said slowly grunting as he thrust her face on his shaft in between every word.

The sound of her slurping and choking on his shaft filled the backseat of the car. His hands stroked her silky scarlet hair and guided her head up and down on his dick as he reassuringly whispered.

"I'll take care of you, sweetheart. Every day. And you'll take care of me every day, too. I have decided to grant your request to live-in with me, pet."

"Suck my dick, darling, and taste the cream that you've grown to love.Your new home is right here." He said as he pulled her face deeper onto his cock and held her face down as she started gagging, forced to deepthroat him.

"Your home is right here – on your knees every day, with my dick in your mouth." As she gagged, he could feel her throat muscles flexing on his cock, sending a wave of involuntary clenching up his shaft. It was fantastic.

"Ah luv ooh, Mastah," she gurgled.

"I love you, too, my sexy pet," He said, with his hand on the back of her head guiding her up and down.

The sound of her wet slurping was the most beautiful music to him in the world.

"You're such a good girl. Such a good cocksucker. Your mouth was made for sucking cock. MY! COCK!" He said grunting and huffing as he rammed his cock and came down her gullet.

He pulled her half way through slightly to fill up her mouth as he knew she wanted to savor his sweet, tangy seed. His pet really couldn't get enough of his shaft and their busy work schedules didn't make it any easier.

Sometimes, Eva would just waltz into his office, while Mark was writing or conceptualizing things he would plagiarize next and she would just kneel down in front of him with no words exchanged and start worshiping his thick shaft like it was just another Wednesday.

After the deed was done and she had cleaned him off nicely with her tongue, she tucked it in and Mark helped her get up.

They fixed their clothing so nothing looked out of place, Eva fixed her makeup while Mark sprayed the car with a muted air freshener.

After taking care of her makeup, she leaned into Mark and hugged his arm saying, "Mark, I can't tell you how happy it made me, when you accepted my request to live-in together. I know it will be just at the office but that's enough for me."

"I am glad. The preparations are already done. You now have an office on the same floor as me with an attached studio apartment with all the amenities."

"There is also a secret doorway that directly opens into my living room." Mark replied as he explained how he will be maintaining their secrecy while still living together.

"Hmm, we're almost there, can you check the back of my dress for me." she said, turning her back to him and lifting her thick booty.

Mark just stared at it for a few seconds, loving how her dress seemed to hug it and enhance its voluptuousness.

He then said, coming to his senses, "It looks perfect." give it a spank, loving the way it jiggled against the palm of his hand.

"Simply a work of art." he said, spanking the other cheek, squeezing them as he murmured to himself. "I will be showing both of them my love tonight."

He then let go and started to wipe and spit that fell on his trousers. Thankfully the material Edna used was non absorbent so it just slid right off, leaving no evidence of their naughty act.

The arrived the venue on the scheduled time, Mr. Kim always manages to get him to his destination on time despite the infamous LA traffic. The crowd waiting for his arrival was in for a pleasant surprise though.

As Marc Spector, he knew the huge fanbase he had amassed but seeing them here, in person was a different experience. The entire square was completely packed with people, a crowd this huge would normally be seen for superstars like Tom Cruise or Will Smith in the future.

But the moment he stepped out of the car and helped Eva out of it as well. The crowd went wild, they were shouting and waving their banners. Yet surprisingly there was no pushing or misbehavior. They just stood in their place as they called out to Mark.

Mark glanced at Eva and said, "I will be with you in a minute, wait for me, okay."

"Can I come with you?" She asked back, not letting go of his arm.

"Sure. Let's go meet my fans." Mark replied and went to a crowd coordinator and asked for a bullhorn/megaphone.

They handed it over after addressing the crowd to maintain order.

Mark with the bullhorn stepped forward but still remained behind the barricade and said, "Thank you. Thank you for coming here. For supporting me and my work all these years."

"It has already been a decade, but we are just getting started. Knives Out is just the first of the many movies I'll be making and I hope my movie does justice to the Knives Out you envisioned in your minds when you first read my book."

"I can't really stay any longer. As I have a premier to host, I hope you guys were treated nicely by my people and if you have any complaints."

"Then please feel free to contact my staff, here at Eidolon we try our best to treat everyone with respect. I hope you all have a beautiful day. Bye."

With that Mark left for the interview area where the news reporters and paps were eagerly waiting for the arrival of the man of the hour, Mark Spencer. They were constantly asking him questions one after the other.

"Mark, who is this lovely young lady with you?" a lady asked, thrusting her mic forward.

"She is my agent and close friend, Evelyn Thorne." Mark curtly replied introducing Evelyn.

Evelyn gracefully curtsied and waved at them.

"Mark, how much do you think your movie is going to make at the box office?" another reporter asked, trying to make himself heard.

"I am sure of the exact number but I would say around $20 million." Mark said, thinking carefully.

"$20 million on the first weekend is a good target." another reporter butt in.

Mark didn't correct them though, as $20 dollars was his estimate for the first day of screening.

"Mark, are you currently in a relationship? A female reporter asked, trying to dig up some gossip.

"I don't see how that question has any relation with the movie that we are here for premier of. Please try to keep your questions professional, I don't like being asked for such private details about my life, Ms. Hale." Mark politely rebuked her for asking about his private life.

"Last question." Mark said in a stern tone.

"Mark, we heard rumors about you changing a part of the ending of your film after the test screening." A young man asked with a bright smile.

"Good question, I don't know how you got that information but it's correct. A small scene has been altered but the ending stays the same."

"I realized it after the test screening when I talked with some fans. They all told me how a particular scene felt incomplete. So I had to make it happen."

"We had already shot the scene so we only swapped it out after editing it to match the rest of the film." Mark said, then he raised his hand to look at the time and said that will have to leave now.

.

..

.

At the scene Eva was amazed to see so many celebrities and asked him how he managed to gather so many stars for his premier. Mark tapped on mask-covered nose and cheekily replied, "A magician never reveals their secrets."

They went inside the hall and were guided to their seats, Mark besides Steven and George on his right and Eva to his left.

He asked about how life was going, Steven jovially replied that the budget was passed and pre-production was finally underway.

Whereas Lucas replied dismayed that he didn't really get any good ideas for the next episode of the series.

He explained how the trilogy was already over and he thought about doing a prequel to expand the story and the universe but couldn't find a good way to start.

"You're overthinking it George, don't think too much about it." Mark replied with ease.

"Just imagine what story you want to tell and put it to paper, don't let your thoughts hold you back."

"No matter how bizarre or stupid your idea might sound at first. You can always work on it and make it into something worth showing to the public." Mark said and then handed them a bucket of pop-corn.

"It's starting soon let me know how you like the ending now. I changed a small part of it." Mark said as he looked forward at the screen and the movie began to play.

.

..

.

The two liked the new ending better and the audience even gave them a huge applause and standing ovation. Rest of the event was a quiet affair, Steven invited them to a party but Mark declined saying that he had some work to catch up on.

It really was a lot of work to prepare Eva's final hole for himself but he had the whole night and a beautiful devoted pet at his mercy.

To say that he thoroughly enjoyed himself would be an understatement, but what came the next day was even better but in a very different way.

It was a system announcement.

[Congratulations, Mark, a new achievement has been unlocked.

Achievement: The First Film.

Objectives:

1. Must either be the Producer, Director or the Screenwriter of the film.

2. Must be theatrically released.

Reward - 10 HP and Knowledge Script containing the knowledge of creating 5 manga/anime of your choice.]

But, wait, there was even more.

[Congratulations, Mark, a hidden achievement has been unlocked.

Hidden Achievement: Versatile Superstar.

Objectives:

1. Must be known in the public to be competent in various fields of work.

2. Must serve as the director, producer and writer in their first film.

Reward - 20 HP and a small passive boost to learning new skills and improving existing ones.]

Mark had asked Vani how big of a boost it would be and she told him that he would learn new things 20% faster and improve his old skills 10% faster. Overall, Mark was pretty satisfied with the new boost.

It would make learn new things much faster and this would serve as a motivator for him to try out new things and experiment more often.

But that wasn't all when he phoned in to ask about the Thursday night box office, which was actually the unofficial first day of a movies box office.

He got another pleasant surprise, Knives had raked in $6.9 million in just the single night of it premier. This number would be then added to the Friday's box office to make the official first day box office of his movie.

With it already reaching 9 million dollars, Mark thought that he might have been too conservative with his estimate of $20 million for the first day.

With the way things looked now, Knives Out might even be able to break $30 million on the first day of opening.

.

..

.

Meanwhile the studio executives of Universal were happy with a successful new release and were eager to see how far the film could. Mr. Meyer the CEO had asked to notified all developements regarding Knives Out.

Mark and him had come to an agreement about how many screens will be alloted to the movie and how high the average earning per screen needed to be for him to urge the theatre chains to avail more for Knives Out.

By looks of it he would have to make some calls very soon, but it was still too soon to judge the real test of a successful movie was the first weekend box office collection, after all.

But the A+ grading by the audiences in the CinemaScore surveys did give him quite the confidence in Mark.

Whereas Disney and rest of the big 5 of the rival studios had already changed gears they were building towards launching an expansive smear campaign to bury Knives Out with false statements and information after not being able to dig up much.

.

..

.

The public had absolutely loved the movie, with Knives Out being a refreshing new take on the old but still beloved mystery crime thriller movies. Salma Hayek had raised her status from barely a D-list actress to directly a B-lister category.

Johnny especially had made a mark on the hearts of every veiwer with his charming performance and style. The whole look of the house, the decor, the background score, everything as whole just coming together in harmony to create a beautiful picture.

The reporters on the news were raving about how it might even cross $30 million in the first weekend. And then the friday box office was announced -

Knives Out: A Murder Mystery. First Day Box Office Collection - $20.2 million.

And everyone sucked in their breaths as they heard it. Within just a single day of opening, the film had earned over half the Box Office to match its budget.

Many so called experts so TV guessed how it was because of the huge $10 million dollar marketing budget.

Some said it was because of the book's immense fan following, other's said it was the affect of the three big Hollywood Director's endorsing Mark's film.

But one thing they all unanimously agreed on and stated on TV was that Knives Out simply couldn't continue at this momentum and saturday would most like show a huge drop in box office.

But Knives Out and the movie-goers gave resounding slap to the statements given by all the experts as the announcement of Saturday's Box Office Collection - $16.3 million.

It was a drop of less than -20%. This low of drop really made the industry experts question themselves, how was it possible.

Well it was the combination of all the points they laid out before.

Being endorsed by the 3 biggest director's in Hollywood, having a huge fanbase of millions of people and spending $10 million on just publicity. That $10 million was a lot as most movies in the 90s didn't really pay much attention to publicity and marketing tactics.

The previous estimate of a $30 million weekend box office had been shattered with a day still left.

Now the experts were afraid to even guess the weekend box office of Knives Out and declined to even appear on TV but there was never a lack of fools in the world and some lesser known people were invited on TV.

They estimated the weekend box office of Knives out should be around $50 million and they even talked about how good the movie was and how hard it was for them to believe that an amateur director had been the one to film it.

The estimate of $50 million which was already a shocking number was still broken when the Sunday Box Office of Knives Out was announced - $17.4 million.

A miracle had happened, instead of a drop that was normally seen the Box Office collection of Knives Out instead rose up by +6.3% this allowed Knives Out to beat estimate $50 million.

Knives Out Weekend Box Office collection - $53.9 million.

Crowning Knives Out as the Box-office King for its opening week. Beating out movies like Ghost, Presumed Innocent, Postcards from the edge, Flatliners and the rest by a huge margin.

The second highest grosser Ghost had a weekend box office of only $15 million. Everyone could feel the shift in the industry, this movie was a the beginning of something.

This high of a box office earning was almost never seen before and unheard of, this would paint a huge target of the back of Mark and Eidolon Entertainment.

.

..

.

..

.

{Author's Note: Okay so the box office numbers might look low or high to some. I promise I tried my best to keep it reasonable yet slightly exaggerated to show how far Mark had come.

Knives Out's Box Office is actually huge, considering its higher than the weekend box office of Jurassic park 1 that will come out after 2 more years by $3 million.

This was possible due to the combination of various factors.

1. Mark's huge fanbase as Marc Spector.

2. Knives Out being a popular book.

3. Spending $10 million of marketing and publicity in 1990.

4. It's the 90s people love comedy, crime/thriller stuff.

5. Steven, George and Mr. Coppola's seal of approval.

6. The movie actually being very good due to the first class film crew and Mark's Steven Spielberg Template.

Anywhos, moving on, thanks for reading my work. I am entirely motivated by interaction, suggestions and feedback. So please leave a comment or review and I will probably write faster.
