46 The chamber

The rhythm of school life settled in, the study group was back in full swing, and we saw some other years starting similar groups. The Slytherin left my friends and me alone now, which allowed me to continue my morning exercise, and I was looking good if I didn't say so myself. Subtle muscles could now be seen on my boyish frame.

I was just finishing up my routine when a beast of a song came on my workout mix. So I stopped in the entrance hall to listen and sing. • Metal Health by Quiet Riot •

♫Yeah!♫

My voice echoed in the empty hall.

♫Well, I'm an axe grinder

Piledriver

Mama says that I never, never mind her♫

I started to dance up the stairs, just following the rhythm.

♫Got no brains

I'm insane

The teacher says that I'm one big pain♫

I was busting moves, not carrying who I saw or where I was going.

♫I'm like a laser Six-string razor

I got a mouth like an alligator

I want it louder

More power

I'm gonna rock it till it strikes the hour♫

I got off on the fourth floor and proceeded down a hallway, banging my head.

♫Bang your head

Metal health will drive you mad

Bang your head

Metal health will drive you mad, all right♫

I twirled and came face to face with a portrait who was smirking at me.

Taking my headphones off I looked at the portrait, it was a man with a lute with a raven on his shoulder standing in an empty filed.

"Bout time," the man said.

"Bout time arr", mimicked the raven In The originals voice.

"Quite Sammy, I need to talk to the you minstrel" the man.

"Err, how can I help you?" I asked the portrait.

"Oh its not you that can help me but me that can help you" the man said.

"Okay..." I said.

"See you awoke me earlier this year, but it must been the end of the school term or something because you went away for months and didn't seek me out" the man said an annoyed tone.

"I awoke you?" I asked, confused.

"Yes, when you played that excellent piece of music that was so entwined with magic." The man sighed. "Sammy and I were over the moon. Finally, a minstrel had come to Hogwarts."

"arr Over the moon" crowed sammy

"Okay, what now?" I asked.

"Well you get to find my legacy" the man said.

"And who are you?" I asked the man.

"The great minstrel, the wizard of music, the plucker of hearts, the wooer of woes." he paused and looked at me to see if I knew who he was. "Johan Gaulder".

"Sammy the Squarker", the raven introduces himself as well.

I blinked at him. "It's nice to meet you, Johan and Sammy. I'm Eddie Carter."

"Well met young minstrel now follow us" he said then pranced into the field behind him, the portrait opened revealing a hidden passage.

I shrugged and followed. The passage led to a chamber about 20 ft by 20 ft. black walls in a hexagonal shape In the middle of the room was a podium with a book. Another portrait with Johan and Sammy, the raven, was on the other side; this time, they seemed to be in a tavern.

"Welcome to the first chamber, here you will find the key to the second chamber" Johan said very mysteriously.

I looked at the book -the Minstrel's Tale by Johan Gaulder-. "So, read the book?" I asked him, "yes in there you will find the answers" Johan answered.

I read the first few passages.

"What house are you in?" asked Johan

"Slytherin" I answered

"Arr Silly Snake", Sammy Crowed in the boisterous voice of a man.

"Oh, Salazar's house that's interesting" Johan said "is the whole thing about teaching muggleborns a waste of time and dangerous, still going on?"

"What?" I asked.

"Salazar used to say that if we taught magic to the muggle-borns, the secret would get out. And plus, they couldn't read or write, so he found it a frustrating waste of time," Johan said.

"Wait, I thought it was about worthiness." I said, confused, "That only purebloods were worthy of learning magic."

"What!" Yelled Johan. "Please tell me you don't believe that?"

"No, but that's what everyone believes Salazar believed", I stated.

"What are they teaching you?" Johan said in disbelief. "Salazar was a paranoid wizard who always believed that muggle-borns would betray the wizarding community", Johan explained. "Sadly, Salazar was proven right twice, once when a muggle-born destroyed a town, exposing himself as a wizard. The other time, a muggle-born betrayed the magical community and named names. Dirty blood traitor, but apart from those two people, more muggle-borns have done great things." Johan spat.

"Blood traitor?" I asked, Johans words didn't make sense 'how could a muggleborn be a blood traitor?' I thought.

"Yes, he betrayed the magic blood by handing over wizards", Johan explained.

"Well the purebloods twisted that" I said with a snort.

"How?" Johan asked

"Blood traitor now means any pureblood that likes muggles or muggle-born,", I said, still reading the book "Pretty much anybody that is against their pureblood supremacy bullshit."

"What's that?" Johan asked.

"Oh, that purebloods have the right to rule because their blood is pure, and muggle-borns are stealing magic that's rightfully theirs. They follow a dark lord, actually the last descendant of Salazar himself." I said to Johan.

"Really." Johan had his interest piqued

"Get this, tho the dark lord is a half-blood born from his mum using a love potion on a muggle", I laughed.

"Ohh this would make a good Ballard" Johan said with glee I looked up and saw he had a quill and parchment.

"Nope, the story's not over yet, and I will compose the song myself. An epic to describe the heroics I will witness in my life." I said, looking at him sternly.

"Sure, kid, anyway, take the book and go", Johan said, looking slightly put off. "Breakfast will be soon"

"Anyway thanks Johan ill be back" I said as I left.

"Fair, well, young minstrel." Johan started to play some music on his lute.

♫Bang your head,♫ Sammy sang with my voice.
