538 Ivan: What a Surprise!

Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios

Ivan suddenly remembered that the old professor had been ambushed by Voldemort's Horcruxes and did not seem to have long to live.

So the biggest obstacle is actually non-existent, and I can become Minister for Magic?!

Ivan gasped, tossing and turning in bed, unable to sleep, as all kinds of emotions rushed into his mind…

Why would a third-year wizard suddenly want to rule the British wizarding world?

Early the next morning, Ivan woke up, washed up, and went downstairs to eat, yawning and sleepy.

He had spent the entire night thinking about it and was torn, but he decided that he was not cut out to be Minister for Magic.

In contrast, he preferred to study magic alone and leisurely, rather than sitting in his office every day dealing with a mountain of government affairs and scheming against his political enemies.

They couldn't just take over the Ministry and make a Minister for Puppets, could they?

Yvonne smiled at the thought.

The so-called rule of the wizarding world was just a figment of those people's imagination. Things were not even set in stone yet, and he was the one who first started worrying about whether he should be Minister for Magic. He was just asking for trouble…

"Sir! Over here, please!"

Ivan had just reached the lobby when he heard Dobby's voice.

He looked up and saw that the house-elf had very gallantly pulled out the chair next to the table, and that Alicia and Douget had already sat down and were waiting for him.

"Did you not sleep well last night?" Alicia asked with concern when she noticed Ivan looking sleepy.

"Well, I was thinking about something…and I went to bed a little late." Ivan yawned and sat down where he had been pulled away.

Dobby duly brought a large breakfast to the table in front of Yvonne, and then busied himself with the cleaning rags, looking very energetic and ready to clean the room again.

Ivan glanced at it, understanding that Dobby was trying to impress Alicia, and smiled at her.

"What do you think of Dobby, Mom? Is he any good?"

"Of course, I'm very pleased…" Acacia was generous with her praise, but she was not used to such a life.

This morning, when she woke up to cook, Dobby stopped her.

The house-elf refused to let her do any of the chores, and was always so agitated, if she hadn't stopped Dobby from banging his head against the wall…

Alicia, who knew a thing or two about house-elves, naturally saw this as Dobby being "competent", so she let him be…

Dobby, who had been praised by Alicia, worked even harder, wiping the hall clean with a cloth and then going on to clean the other rooms.

"Now that you have a house-elf, you're a wizarding family with a bit of history," said Doggett after Dobby had left the hall.

Despite the fact that house-elves were considered lowly by wizards and were no different from slaves, they were extremely loyal, proficient in all life skills, and no less skilled in magic than an adult wizard.

Normally, only a powerful pure-blood family could have a house-elf as a slave…

Ivan shook his head and retorted, "Dobby and I were only hired men. If he ever wanted true freedom, I wouldn't force him to stay. Besides, the way to judge a family's heritage is through the knowledge they have."

Such an easy life was too rotten!

Easily sapping one's fighting spirit…

No wonder Malfoy was so arrogant and delicate. He must have been spoiled rotten.

Yvonne sighed to herself as she took a spoonful of Dobby's porridge and ate a few pieces of sausage and grilled tomatoes.

Doggett pursed his lips. That was true, but he still wanted a house-elf who could be cared for and who would care for such trifles…

Dougett didn't argue with Ivan, and his face grew serious as he changed the subject. "By the way, I forgot to ask you yesterday. Do you hate pure-blood wizards?"

"No!" Ivan said, shaking his head. "I don't think there's any difference between a pure-blood, half-blood, and a Muggle family!"

He was not blindly anti-pure-blood, nor was he as radical as Lord Voldemort in his belief that certain wizards he despised should die.

According to Ivan's knowledge, some pure-blood families were no different from ordinary wizards in that they made their money through craft and skill.

The Lovegood family, such as Luna's, earned their living expenses by running newspapers, and even had trouble with newspaper sales.

"That's good!" said Doggett, relieved. He could understand Ivan's message, of course. Ivan was not against pure-blood, but privilege!

This meant that some pure-blood families were still friends, not enemies!

"Why do you ask, Dean Dougett?"

Having seen Burke's imagination, Ivan learned the hard way that one should always try to get to the bottom of things, so as not to get screwed over.

"I should have told you before that the wizarding market is controlled by six pure-blood families. The Nott family is the most powerful, but it's only one of them…" Doggett explained to Ivan. He wanted to persuade a pure-blood family to act as a spy, so that their attack on the wizarding market would go much more smoothly.

"Are you sure it will work?" Yvonne frowned.

"Of course! You don't know the pure-bloods. To put it bluntly, they're no better than fence-sitters! They tried to fight back because they had the advantage of numbers, but things are different now!" sneered Doggett.

"So which family are you going to lobby?" Ivan asked.

"The House of Rosier! I had previously spoken to the head of the house in an attempt to persuade him to join us in the rebellion. It was a failure, but the elder Rosier hesitated for a moment before replying, and if he had realised that he had no chance of victory, he would have surrendered before anyone else!" Dagget explained.

There was such a thing as a double-cross? Yvonne looked at Doggett in surprise, and when he confirmed it, she continued.

"How long will it take you to talk him down? How confident are you?"

"I'm eighty percent sure you'll be able to meet him in two days at the most," said Doggett confidently. The wizarding market had lost nine wizards in one fell swoop, and the balance of power had been thrown completely out of balance. He was confident he could convince the man.

"Good! Then I'll meet him!" Ivan agreed with a nod. It would be better to occupy the wizarding market with as little damage as possible.

With a spy, they might be able to catch the other party in one fell swoop, lest some escaped and harass them in the future.

With Ivan's permission, Doggett appeared to be in high spirits, and after a quick breakfast he left the shop.

Ivan, on the other hand, treasured his time with Alicia, and spent the morning chatting with her without doing anything.

It was not until late afternoon, when Ivan remembered that he needed to hold a funeral for Elver Grint, that he asked Dobby to prepare the necessary items, and used a communication-magic tool to get everyone together again.

Ivan was standing in the doorway, waiting, as the space in front of him distorted and figures appeared.

When the last of them arrived, Ivan checked the time. Ten minutes had passed…

This speed caused Ivan to frown. This was not the time to eat or sleep!

According to his understanding, wizards could use Apparition to perform Instant Transmission, and with the exception of certain emergencies, everyone should have arrived at the scene as soon as he notified them!
