14 A Wise Man Never Lets a Pretty Girl Wait

Continued...

Nonetheless I was a bit put off when even the great Lieutenant Richards' spidey senses didn't tingle. Either that or he did a good job appearing unaffected.

No fun probing you this time, man.

"Yeah, Innocent? It may be a strong word to throw around these days", he simply quipped with wisdom-ish look on his face.

Yeah bro, like I don't know.

"Pardon me?" I asked.

"Never mind, and don't worry too much about the killer. We are very close to catching him. You could even say we already got him", he replied. Though I'm quite sure I know who he's talking about but the look on his face gave away the subtle hints of peculiar.

Well, who gives a shit; just do what I designed for you to do, little puppet.

"Well that's a relief. Can't help but commend you of your good work, lieutenant. I must say that was quick. You trying to set some kind of record or something?" I said jokingly. Nothing wrong in me trying to probe him for a little inside info; he's been doing it to me, ever since he got here, hasn't he.

He chuckled a little. "Not really, we are just doing what we are entrusted to do, and paid."

Dubious fuck9r; wouldn't let loose even a little.

"Alright then; it was nice seeing you today, lieutenant. If you don't need anything else; I have a lunch date to get to. A wise man never lets a pretty girl wait for him too long…if he wants to live to see another day, that is." I winked with a smirk making his subordinates laugh; he simply chuckled with a nod.

I'm all done here; playing with him wasn't as fun as I initially thought it would be.

In the start he was clearly doubtful of me but later in the conversation I could tell his suspicious personality around me shifted and now he doesn't seem to catch on my words as much anymore; even when this time I'm actually playing dangerously bold; you know as they say, go big or go home. Although, it seems I may have done a fairly good job into convincing him against whatever suspicion he had of me, for no apparent reason, of course. It's not like I left any stupidity behind that pointed my way.

"We'll take our leave now", they turned around to leave and I sat back on my desk. He was the last person who was walking out the door when he stopped to look back. I immediately lowered my gaze on the papers in front of me. Don't wanna be considered a creep, you know.
