Chapter 2 Looks can be deceiving

Seeing the little girl hesitate to come with her, she squatted down and looked at her to say," Come with me and I help you. Do I look like a bad person?" "Daddy told me that sometimes looks can be deceiving," she said.

Tang Ning realized that it was the second time she was speaking about her father and she wondered whether her mother was the type that didn't pay attention to her children. "Your daddy was right about that but I only want to help. I promise to take you where they are," she said.

"Okay," responded the girl and Tang Ning got hold of her little hand, walking at a gentle pace. She has always had a strong affection for kids and family.

"What have you come to do at the mall?" she asked as they walked, trying to create a conversation. "We came to buy dolls for me and toys for my twin brother," she replied in her soft voice.

Reaching the children's toys section, Tang Ning looked as they walked around.

After several rounds of walking in the same place, the little girl stopped and said," I'm tired." Tang Ning squatted and said," I think your brother and nanny are looking for you too, that's why we can't find them. But don't worry, I won't leave you okay?"

When she nodded," We should go back and wait at the place where you left them," proposed Tang Ning and she stood up then carried her so that they could go back.

"Huan!" Tang Ning heard a voice and she turned to see an elderly woman and a young boy as they made quick steps to where they were. She placed the girl down and she ran to meet them.

She saw the woman inspecting the girl as if to check if she was hurt. After, she got the girl's hand and walked to where she was. She noticed that the woman had traces of grey hair.

"Who are you Miss? And where were you taking her?" she asked. "My name is Tang Ning. I wasn't trying to take her anywhere. I was only helping her look for you," she replied.

The woman didn't look convinced and she looked at the little girl then asked," Is it true Huan?" She nodded her head and said," En. The pretty auntie was only helping me to find you and Juan." "Where had you gone to?" she asked her. "I was following a panda and it disappeared," she said sadly. The woman turned to look at Tang Ning and smiled apologetically before saying," Forgive me. You know, I have to be cautious because anything can happen. Thank you for helping her."

"You don't have to apologise I totally understand. They are very lovely and adorable," she said as she looked at the twins, where the boy was trying to wipe her sisters already dried tears. "Indeed they are. The girl is Jing Huan while the boy is Jing Juan," the woman said before adding," I am Ms Fang." "It is a pleasure meeting you Ms Fang," replied Tang Ning.

She nodded before looking at the girl and said," Huan Huan, don't wander off again without informing me okay?" She nodded and the woman added," Thank the auntie and bid farewell to her."

She walked to where Tang Ning was standing and craned her neck, gesturing her to come down.

Tang Ning squatted and the girl leaned forward before placing a kiss on her cheek and she said," Thank you very much pretty auntie. Bye bye pretty auntie." "Bye," she replied and the woman smiled at her before getting the two kids and they walked away.

Jing Huan kept looking behind her as they walked and Tang Ning kept smiling at her until they disappeared.

It was after they left did she remember that she had an appointment and she looked at her wrist watch. Her eyes widened when she realized that she was running late and she quickly ran out of the mall.

As she stood at the roadside waiting for a cab, she felt her phone vibrating in her purse and she got it. Seeing that it was her friend, she quickly answered and said," I'm so sorry I know that I'm late but I'm on my way." "Hey relax. I called to inform you that the interview has been scheduled to tomorrow," she informed.

"What? Really?" she asked. "Yes. Be prepared," she said before adding," I will call you back, bye." When the call ended, she released a sigh of relief at the thought that she was not doing the interview today.

Now that she didn't have to do the interview today, she walked back to the mall to look for her father's gift.

When she went back home, she walked to her father's room first thing and found him taking a nap. Heading to the kitchen, she started preparing some food for them.

When she was done serving food to her father and ensuring that he had taken his medicine, she went to her room and lazily laid on the bed.

She then remembered something and sat up, getting her PC. She looked at the business card given by her friend and she typed in Jing Yue. She wanted to get a little knowledge about him and see if he had any similarities with her previous boss who was a jerk.

Unfortunately, all she could see was information on Jing Conglomerate and nothing personal, not even his pictures.

She searched for the pictures of his children but nothing was displayed neither the pictures of his wife. She sighed in defeat and closed the PC before laying back on the bed.

Mayhap she will be seeing them tomorrow in person.
