18 Chapter 18 Mistake?

"How is your work?" asked Tang Moyu. "Everything is fine," replied Tang Ning.

"Where do you work again?" "I'm a nanny of a pair of adorable twins," she replied and Moyu nodded before saying," Alright. I called to talk to you about something." "You can tell me anything," she said. "Uh, Feng Shufen is back from the States. He's currently in Shanghai," she said and when she didn't see the surprised look she was expecting, she asked," You already knew about it?" "Yes," she replied. Her lips set into a thin line and she said, "So, you two already met." "No. Not at all. We just spoke on phone," she answered.

"Wow. So then, are you two getting back together? Or you're already together now?" "No Moyu. That won't happen," she said. "Why?" she asked. "Because I am not ready for a relationship and most of all, I don't want to complicate our relationship any further," she said. She took a while to say, "I will choose to believe you. Listen Ning, you've always wanted me to change for the better isn't it?" she asked and she nodded.

"If that is the case then, I will do it only if I have the man I want." "I don't understand," she said.

"What I mean to say is that, don't come between Feng Shufen and I like you did in high school. Will you do that for me?" she asked.

"Is this what you wanted to speak to me about?" she asked back. "Yes," she replied.

Tang Ning was so disappointed. She had thought that she wanted the two of them to settle their differences. "I understand and you should know that I have no intention of being with him. I have priorities." "Are you sure?" she asked. "Yes," she replied.

"Okay thank you. And most importantly, remember to keep your distance from him," she said and Tang Ning nodded. "We shall see how true you will stay to your word," she remarked.

By the time Tang Ning left her room, she couldn't hide her disappointment. She walked to her father's room whom she found heading to the shower. "Have you talked to her?" he asked. "Yes," she replied. "And? How did things go?" he asked. "Fairly. Father, let me go back," she told him. "Alright. Travel safely," he said and she nodded.

In the night when Tang Ning was laying on her bed, she realized how empty the house felt without the twins in it. She couldn't wait for them to come back. Just then, her phone rang and she saw Feng Shufen calling her. "How has your day been?" he asked. "Good," she replied. "Tang Ning, I want to see you," he said. "That won't be possible. I told you that I'm always busy at work."

"Not even on weekends?" he asked. "No. And, it will be best if you stop calling me."

"Why? But, did I do something to hurt you?"

"No. I just don't want to be bothered. Feng Shufen, you literally have everything you need. Just move on with your life," she said before hanging up.

When she got off the bed, she walked to the bathroom to take a shower. A while later, she came back wrapped in a towel and she got the drier then started to dry her hair. After, she walked over to the drawers to get her undergarments.

Jing Yue who had just arrived home opened the front door and made way inside the house. This was his first time coming back home ever since the twins were taken. He greeted the butler who offered to take his brief case but he told him that he was okay.

As he was yet to take the stairs, he heard some noises and giggles in the next room which was supposed to be the room for the twins' nanny. He wondered who she was talking to when the twins were not home. Was she with someone in her room? He decided to walk over and take a look.

Finding the door slightly ajar, he slightly pushed it and looked inside where his eyes met the most unexpected sight.

The woman was in only her underwear as she was rummaging through the drawers while speaking on phone.

His eyes became glued to the sight and his legs could not move away. One could never imagine that under the big sweater pants and shirts she wore was a slender and curvy figure. Her skin was spotless and it looked soft and smooth to the touch.

"He is still as kind as he was in school," spoke Daiyu on the other line. "Yeah. He has always been kind," replied Tang Ning who was searching for her comb. "But I think that he treats me nicely because he wants my help in pursuing you," she spoke. "Then enjoy the moment," she replied and then landed on what she had been looking for then closed the drawers. "You're so cruel. So, are you serious that you're not giving him a chance?" "I am more than serious," she replied as she turned to walk towards the closet. "Why?" she asked. After getting her night wear, she said, "Because I don't- " She couldn't complete her statement when her eyes fell on the door and the next moment, she dropped her phone on the ground.

Her hands instinctively covered her breasts even though she knew that it was too late.

It was then did Jing Yue realize what he had done. He didn't know what to do or say to her as she looked at him questioningly and scared. In the end, he pulled the door to shut it before walking away.

Tang Ning wore her PJs hurriedly before running to lock the door. She then sat on her bed contemplating what just happened. She was so scared and her heart was racing.

She didn't know what to think. Her boss didn't look like a jerk but there was no explanation to what he did. He was clearly watching her naked and she couldn't tell at what time he had come to stand there.

She cupped her face with both her hands.

Was it a mistake taking up the job?

But he looked like a honourable man, she thought. She then remembered her phone and walked to it. Luckily, nothing big had happened to it and only got a scratch.
