How it began

2years ago

The autumn breeze blew gently as the clouds hid the sun, slowly announcing to the citizens of New York city that the day was slowly coming to an end.

Normally, all New Yorkers were already rounding up their work for the day, and already looking forward to the rest that they will need in their sleep, but this time was different, for a particular person. This was the day that she finds out everything that her fiancé has been keeping from her.

Today was the day, when she finally heard the truth, she knew that what they had was a lie and what pained her was that, she believed that all those moments were real, till she found out something, that she wasn't supposed to find. A letter from Jason,

Who the hell was Jason, and why is his letter of resignation so damn important that Ryan had to save it. And she noticed that this was the same piece of paper, that Ryan, reread every fucking night. Today was the day of confessions and now she was going to get it all, even if it breaks her apart.

She sat in the car, in silence as tears silently rolled down her cheeks. She raised her right hand to clean it as she glanced at the driver, on the other end, her heart code, her lover, her CEO.

He sat in his seat brooding, his jaws set in the lock, as he slowly ground his teeth, focusing his attention, on the road in front of him. Not once, did he glance sideways, to ask why she was crying, probably because he knew that he was the cause of it? And neither did he volunteer to wipe her tears, because he knew that the act wasn't from his heart and it would hurt her even more.

Truthfully, he didn't give a damn about her, she had it all, money, class, fame, power and the fact that they are betrothed didn't make it any easier for him to swallow, he already knew the damn fucking truth and she knew it too. That he never loved her and he never will, so staying with him was bound to bring heartbreak and suffering, so why on earth did she still stay, well, as they say, love is blind.

He tightened his grip on the wheels, as he realized what he was actually doing. He realized that he was taking her there, the same place that his world came crashing down, the place that brought him so much joy and happiness, before tearing him apart and throwing him into a world of everlasting misery. The place where the earth stopped spinning and his world came crashing down. The place he went daily to torture himself, and as a result had bought the land so that nobody else could ever walk there.

That was the place he made his way to, with her. He fought against what he was doing. What he was doing and why he was doing it. He didn't love her so there was no reason why he should reveal his deepest secret to her, but he also had no reason to hate her. Besides he should have told her the truth, about what he hides the most.

The truth, he realized, was a big lump, in his throat, too hard to swallow and too painful to spit out, and that was why he always drowned it with stress and work because swallowing it was choking.

The painful truth, not even his parents knew about it, nor did his best friend Dylan have a clue about it. The truth Jason showed him in such a short period cut the engine as the car slowly came to a rest, he unbuckled his seatbelt, and came out of the car, as Ruby did the same. She knew around and saw that he had brought her to an open space, it looked like a cliff.

I thought he said that he was going to show me the truth, why did he then bring me here? What is the planning? Ruby said in her mind as she took in the scenery.

I want to take you somewhere, are you comfortable walking in that? He said to me, motioning to my heels, that I was currently putting on. Uhmm, oh, I see. No…yes. Pardon me for uttering nonsense, but for the first time today, that was the first thing that he ever said to me.

Ryan kept on looking at me as if I held something from him. Oh, shoot. I just remembered, he asked me a question and I haven't replied to him yet.

I quickly bent down and removed it. It is off, I said, holding the heels in my hand, as I straightened up myself.

In that case, follow me. He ordered as he turned and walked, not once looking back. The climb wasn't that steep, but it sure was tiring. It was on the verge of my tongue to complain, but I quickly clamped down hard.

No way, am I making him hate me anymore. The current hate is enough. I can hold it and not complain, at all.

Just then, he stopped and I rammed into his back, by accident.

Oww, dang it. I said, rubbing my forehead. He was as stiff as bamboo and hard as a wall. I need glasses. I walked to his side and looked. The heels fell out from my hands as my heart broke down into a million pieces. He brought me to the edge of a cliff, where nothing was, apart from the sea before. Was he mocking me? Is this the truth?

I thought and I faced him, saying whatever spilt into my brain, in the heat of the moment.

Why don't you love me?

Why don't you have fun like a normal person?

You act so distantly, more like a ghost.

I have sacrificed everything to be with you, I have followed you around like a lost puppy looking for its owner, it was very hard and extremely difficult to become friends with you, but I did. Why, Ryan, why? Ruby asked in tears.

Ruby, you wouldn't understand. He replied.

What we won't want to stand : Do you love someone you love? Or she broke your heart? But that doesn't mean you should lock your heart away. I asked you to love me and you brought me to a cliff. She lamented.

He. Ryan corrected.

I don't understand. Ruby replied.

You said you wanted the truth, so that is exactly what I am going to tell you. I brought you here to tell you the story…our story. He died here, he was all I ever wanted. Ryan said calmly.

He?! You are gay? Ruby asked, shocked.

Yes, I am. Sit down, I am about to tell you a story…our love story, then it is left for you to decide. Ryan replied, tapping on a space beside him, gesturing for her to sit.

Ruby sat down quietly, waiting to hear the story of the man that owned her boyfriend's heart.

Have you tried switching it off and on again? Jason asked, looking at Andrew as he turned the computer upside down.

Switching it off and on? Do you guys say that shit? Andrew asked bewildered as Jason rolled his eyes.

Yes, we do say that shit, Andy. Now the fact that I am here, on the third floor trying to fix your computer because you got another virus from one of those fucking porn websites, is pissing me off.

Come on Jason, you know that..... Andrew started but was caught short by Jason.

No, not this bloody time, Andy. Jason aggressively replied "You do not get to give an excuse this time. You don't get a bloody or reasonable excuse, for watching porn on your company computer, you dick headed bison.

Andrew frowned at his scolding words then replied,

You are not as cute when you are angry. He said pulling at Jason's cheeks who brushed his hands off.

Trying not to roll his eyes, or blush at Andrew's word, he replied.

It seems you don't understand the gravity of what you just did. Let's not talk about cuteness, when I am trying desperately to hide the fact from the whole company, that you got a virus in one of their systems by watching porn and also trying hard to not kill you, as it would certainly land me in jail.

How in the flying shit, am I going to remain not pissed off when one of my work buddies and regrettably his best friend continuously decides to ignore the company's restrictions placed on these computers. How are you even accessing porn websites anyways? Jason said, facing the idiot beside him.

Jason said the last part was a little bit loud because his fellow IT guy or girl walked in the room, looking for him since he had spent up to thirty minutes, to catch what Jason had said.

She burst into laughter as we both snapped our heads in her direction.

Jesus on freaking crutches?! Porn! Seriously Andrew your little thing couldn't wait till it got back home huh. Shir said as she burst into another fit of uncontrollable laughter.

Jason almost became medically concerned that she might start choking.

Hey, hey guys. Come on, quit it. I thought that we were all friends and shouldn't criticize any bad thing done by any of us. Andrew said, raising his hands slowly.

He gave Jason a look silently pleading that he should take his side but Jason gave him a fuck you sign that Shir caught.

Tough luck, sugar. She said to Andrew as she patted him on his back.

Andrew rolled his eyes in exasperation and said Why in the...He stopped seeing the look that Shirley gave him. He knew that he wouldn't survive if he said something to piss her off. He gulped and quickly rephrased his question.

So what brings you to my floor, Miss Shirley. Already missing your partner? He asked sweetly.

This dick bag over here? Shirley asked, pointing at Jason.

No thanks, she continued as Jason rolled his eyes.

Then tell us why you came here huh? Jason asked, staring at her point-blank.

Sheesh, so I can't leave the office again or what. Anyways I came here because I have some news about your ball. She added.

What kind of news could you possibly have? I just left the damned office. Jason said.

Well, a lot has happened in the THIRTY minutes of your absence. Shir said, looking back at him.

Should I leave and give you guys enough room to argue or are you going to drop the news? Andrew asked looking from Shir to Jason.
