19 Gary Kim

"Who dares-", Lucy snapped. Only at such crucial time would people come and bother her.

Aubrey didn't waste any time as he pulled Lucy in his arm, dragging her to the guest room. He took out a note and gave it to Lucy. She took it despite being confused for his quick but sudden action.

(I will stay here and lock the door. You entertain the guest for however long you want.)

Lucy turned to look at him.

"Will you be fine?", she asked.

He nodded.

"In that case..", she beckoned him to stay and wait. She disappeared and then appeared a minute later. Lucy handed him a box. He took it while raising a brow. Not knowing what was inside.

"I hope you're familiar with a PSP. You can play this if you're bored. I've stop playing with it a couple of years ago. I wish it's not broken or anything.", she smiled.

Lucy went to the door, and she turned her head back to Aubrey. She waved at him before going outside of the room.

Gary was waiting patiently for Lucy to open the door. At times like this, she was usually still sleeping when she had days off.

Lucy opened the door hesitantly, enough to make Gary wondered what happened.

"Hey Lucy, what's wrong?", he asked.

"Hey Gary. It's nothing, you're bothering my sleep again. Go away, you're not welcome here.", she said, she was just joking but he took it seriously.

"Well.. I better go away then-", he turned around.

"Hey! You know I'm just kidding!", she said, placing her hands on her hips.

Gary knew she was joking but he couldn't find himself not getting hurt by her harsh words. He was in love with Lucy since a long time ago. But the poor man never got the chance to confess since the line was clear, she only saw him as her cousin, nothing more.

Her words were rough when she talked to him. Like how friends talk to each other. She didn't even miss him when they didn't get to meet often. Contrary to Gary who always thinks of her whenever she was not around.

"What are you doing? Come inside.", she walked ahead, leaving the man behind.

Gary stepped inside the house. It was the same as before. The interior was simple yet full of colors. As expected of a psychologist.

"I brought you breakfast.", he said, walking to the kitchen and placed the plastic bag on the dining table.

"Huh? I've eaten breakfast. You're just late.", she spoke in a nonchalant manner.

"You've eaten? That's rare.. weren't you usually wake up late? You said I disturb your sleep.", he said, getting confused.

Gary turned his head to the kitchen counter, he saw two servings of a meal, yet to be washed. Lucy cursed when she saw them too. She forgot to put them away..

"You ate those two plates?", he asked, genuinely curious. There was something wrong here. He noticed how she was vigilant around him, like she was hiding something.

'How can't I act like usual?!', she shouted in her mind. She was hopeless. Now he became wary.

"Are you hiding something from me Lucy?", he questioned her.

Lucy couldn't afford to lose in her acting game, so she took a deep breath and she relaxed her posture. Thinking about the worst outcome if she was to be busted, She shook her head.

'I'll settle this quick and go to Aubrey.', she thought, recollecting her confidence and smiled towards her cousin.

"Dear cousin, what makes you think you have the right to ask me such question?", she pointed a glare to Gary's way.

He became silent. Why was he asking that kind of question? As if he had found Lucy cheating on him when they were barely in a relationship.

"Sorry, nevermind that.", he looked away. He was disappointed to see that Lucy didn't feel anything when she said those words to him.

"At least you're clear on my line. Well, how's the hospital?", she took a seat on the couch. Not minding his gloomy expression.

"As usual. Mia's department was in havoc. Many people hurt their teeth this time. The clinic was full.", he explained, also taking a seat on the couch.

"Is that so? Poor sister.. how about aunt Annie? She continued her job after the business trip right? That was a long one..", Lucy took a water bottle that was always on the table in the living room, she gave one to Gary and took one for herself.

"Yes, she's busy again. I told her to take at least a week off but she refused.", Gary smiled wryly, he looked worried.

Lucy saw him getting worried for his mother but she didn't have a way to comfort him.

"Aunt Annie is our president, she's a responsible adult who takes her job seriously. We just have to support her, right?", Lucy put a smile on her face. She really looked up to her aunt.

When she discovered her passion for psycology and wanted to pursue it more seriously, aunt Annie was the first to ever supported her. Her parents both wanted her to become a general surgeon but she didn't want to. Becoming a psychologist was a compromise she made when she was force to be a doctor.

"Don't worry, aunt Annie is still young. She's able to make it.", Lucy said.

"Yes..", Gary faced Lucy. He was missing this woman just a while ago.

"Or if you're that worried, then you should take her position as a president.", she teased Gary.

Gary Kim was more than qualified for the position. He was the only male heir in the Kim family who was the most close to the title. Many of their relatives were too far for the line.

"Grandfather would love to see you succeed your mom.", Lucy said, she gulped down the water.

She knew aunt Annie was just working hard to make herself busy. She lost her husband in the car accident around ten years ago. Since then, she would always busied herself and in return, flourishing the hospital as the number one private hospital in the country. But only few knew of her loneliness and suffering. Her husband, who was also a doctor, couldn't be saved as he died on the spot at the scene.
