After returning to Islamabad, Aamiya got busy with her studies as she had a lot to catch up on. She was busy writing something, when Asfand came into their room one evening.

He went to her and gently patted her head, “Assalamualaikum, Doll.” He greeted and took a seat beside her. Aamiya leaned into him involuntarily and returned the greeting. He placed a kiss on her forehead, then one down on her nose. Aamiya closed her eyes in bliss. She knew that he would kiss her lips next. When she didnt feel anything for a while, she opened her eyes in confusion.

“Can I kiss you? Do you want it?” Asfand asked, his breath fanning her lips.

Aamiya reddened, she should’ve known that he wasn’t going to kiss her without being sure of her feelings. She nodded her head and gave his chin a small kiss. Before she knew it, Asfand was on her lips. He kissed her softly, licking her lips, sucking them. Aamiya placed her arms around his neck and pulled him closer. His touch was something she would never be able to deny. It calmed her, made her feel good.

A month later,

One evening, Aamiya was sitting in the living room, waiting for Asfand to come home. A lot had changed in the past month, she welcomed his touch and kisses. In fact, she was glad that she could reach for him whenever she wanted.

She could demand his affection, sit on his lap, sleep beside him and do all without needing an explanation for herself and others. Asfand hadn’t asked her for more, and so the question still remained

“Did she really love him as a girl should love her husband?”

She was lost in her thoughts, when she saw her father walking hurriedly towards her, with her mother trailing behind.

“Aamiya, get up. We need to go to the hospital.” Her father spoke quickly.

“What happened, Dad?” She asked, standing up.

“Asfand has gotten into an accident. We need to go.” He said, making her heart stop for a moment. She looked as if she was about to faint.

“Aamiya, don’t worry. He is safe.” Her father assured her and pulled her towards the door.

Aamiya was weeping continuously. The doctor let her enter his room directly because Asfand wasn’t in a bad condition. His head was injured, along with his arm and a few bruises were scattered here and there. The doctors were closely monitoring his head injury.

Asfand was already bandaged up, when he heard the door opening. He opened his eyes and saw Aamiya standing in front of him, her face wet with tears.

“Come here, baby.” Asfad spoke softly. Aamiya walked to him quickly, placed her head on his chest and sobbed uncontrollably.

Asfand used his good hand to stroke her hair and soothe her. “My doll needs to stop crying.” Her tears cut him more than his physical wounds.

Aamiya looked up at him, “I can’t lose you. I love you, Asfi.” she said. Asfand couldn’t believe his ears. He wiped her tears and hugged her close to him.

Driving over, it was clear to Aamiya that it was either Asfand or no one at all. If she was the heart, he was the beat. She was nothing without him.

“You are my everything.” She said and pecked his lips. Asfand sighed in content. He loved that Aamiya never shied showing him affection.
